24 November - National weather forecast presented by Ellie Glaisyer
Transcript
00:00Good morning. Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So, after an unsettled
00:05day for most of us on Thursday, it looks like a bit of a change is on the way as we head
00:09towards the weekend. This cold front across the south of the UK clears its way south and
00:13eastwards, allowing high pressure to develop, but northerly winds across much of the UK
00:17as we head towards the weekend. So, something a little bit colder is on the way.
00:22Back to the here and now, though, and a little bit of cloud around for many of us this morning.
00:26Some outbreaks of patchy rain and drizzle across parts of Wales and south-west England,
00:30but for many of us, it will be a much drier and brighter start to the day. Plenty of sunshine
00:34developing as we head through this afternoon. A few isolated showers along eastern coast,
00:39these perhaps turning wintry across parts of Scotland through this afternoon, but for
00:42many of us, it will be a dry day. Temperatures down a touch compared to what we saw yesterday
00:47as well, generally the mid to high single figures, but with that northerly wind, particularly
00:51across the north and the east, it will be feeling much closer to freezing. Touch milder
00:56across the very far south under that cloud and rain, but generally cooler than what we
00:59saw on Thursday. As we go through Friday evening, those clear
01:04skies will allow temperatures to drop off quite quickly overnight, so a widespread frost
01:09developing as we go into the start of the weekend. Temperatures down around freezing,
01:13particularly across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland, into Wales and south-west England
01:17as well, where we haven't seen much of a frost so far this season. We could see temperatures
01:21as low as minus five or minus six, but generally towns and cities will be holding up around
01:25zero. Just a touch milder as well across those eastern coasts with a slightly stronger breeze
01:30as well to start on Saturday. So for many of us, Saturday will start very
01:34chilly but very bright. Plenty of sunshine around as we go through Saturday morning,
01:39leaving a very crisp autumnal day, plenty of blue skies around. Still a few showers
01:44skirting along those eastern coasts, but these most likely falling as rain and winds will
01:48gradually start to ease as we go through the day on Saturday, so that perhaps just
01:52taking a touch off those temperatures, although not much above those mid to high single figures
01:56again. A bit of hazy sunshine as well developing from the west as we go through Saturday afternoon,
02:01and that leads to the hints of something more unsettled on the way as we head through Sunday.
02:05You can find out more about that on our social media channels, and don't forget to find out
02:10more on our YouTube as well. Bye bye.
