00:00Hello again and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. A fine start for most
00:05of us this weekend. Some sunshine, a chill in the air first thing Saturday. Rain arrives
00:10later Saturday in some places, followed by showers in many places on Sunday. A few showers
00:16around Friday evening, but generally overnight they become restricted to western shores.
00:22And then a few clear spells, but you can see some areas of cloud hanging about, so a touch
00:27of frost in places overnight. A few mist and fog patches perhaps for the likes of
00:32south-east England for example. But otherwise, a fine start for many of us on Saturday. Any
00:38mist and fog lingering for the first few hours, eventually it lifts. And then the best of
00:42any sunny spells will be in the east, whilst the cloud tends to thicken further west. The
00:48breeze will also pick up, but it will be coming from the south-west and so a slightly milder
00:53direction compared to the last few days. Temperatures up a degree or two compared to
00:57Friday afternoon. We're looking at 15, perhaps the odd 16 Celsius, given some shelter from
01:02the breeze and enough sunshine. But for Northern Ireland, for parts of western Scotland by
01:07the end of the afternoon, it's going to turn wet. This weather front responsible. It's
01:12running into this area of high pressure which holds on in the east, so the rain does tend
01:17to slow down and really it's Northern Ireland and western Scotland that bear the brunt of
01:22the rain on Saturday evening. The rain then arriving into western parts of England and
01:26Wales after midnight. But it will be wettest across western and south-west Scotland and
01:33there is the risk of some particularly heavy rain in places, for example, Stirling, Perthshire
01:38as well as the Trossachs. So that's something we'll be keeping a close eye on. The wind
01:42will be picking up as well with gales in exposed western locations and with that breeze and
01:48increased cloud, generally a milder night to come compared to Friday night. Temperatures
01:53in many places staying up in the double figures. But it's a wet start to the day there for
01:57central and western Scotland. The outbreaks of rain also affecting western England and
02:03Wales. You can see how the weather front though, this area of cloud here, it turns more showery
02:08heading into Saturday afternoon and really doesn't reach the far south-east. So East
02:13Anglia and the south-east doing well for sunny spells and dry weather. The weather
02:17also brightens up for Scotland and Northern Ireland by Sunday afternoon. The rain here
02:22replaced by showers. Some lively downpours around western coasts in particular along
02:26with this strong gusty breeze. But with the showers, well it's going to be hit and miss
02:32rainfall I think in many places by Sunday afternoon. Plenty of drier and brighter weather
02:36in between and a mild day to come with this south-westerly breeze, 15 or 16 Celsius in
02:41some of the warmer spots. Into the start of next week, it stays mild but we'll see very
02:46changeable weather with some heavy showers around on Monday, followed by some persistent
02:51wet weather in the north-west on Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll keep you updated on all of
02:56that of course on social media. Bye bye.
