00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest forecast for the week ahead from the Met Office.
00:05A mixed week of meteorology to mull over this week with often cloudy skies, some rain at
00:10times but away from the cloudier zones, sunny spells as well.
00:16These cloudier zones brought about by weather fronts which will topple north-west to south-east
00:21across the country.
00:22First couple of fronts there evident on Tuesday morning bringing spells of rain for southern
00:28Scotland and Northern Ireland first thing before the wind and rain push into parts of
00:33Northern England and North Wales by late morning or lunchtime.
00:38However the rain by this stage mostly it's going to be persistent over western hills
00:43and coasts through these central zones with some decent drier weather to the east of higher
00:49ground so north-east England for example.
00:51But grey skies and often damp through this central slice whilst Scotland and Northern
00:56Ireland brightens up on Tuesday afternoon with some sunny spells but also blustery showers
01:00mainly northern and western Scotland where there will be some heavy downpours and some
01:06gusty winds.
01:07To the south again foggy start to Tuesday across south-east England but the skies brightening
01:12by the afternoon and in the sunshine feeling quite pleasant I think 15 or 16 Celsius possible
01:18in the south-east by Tuesday afternoon but fresher feel there for Scotland and Northern
01:24Ireland with those blustery showers.
01:25Skip forward to Wednesday and some small progress with the weather front sinking south
01:31some heavier rain for a time midlands perhaps east Anglia, south-western areas and a lot
01:36of low cloud in this area with some hill fog to start things off.
01:40Perhaps some brighter skies into Kent but further north that's where the brightest skies
01:44will be.
01:45North Wales, northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland again a few showers but mostly
01:48north-west England, northern and western Scotland again a gusty breeze 10 to 12 in the north
01:5413, 14 further south.
01:58And on Thursday, Armistice Day we start off with low clouds some patchy rain and drizzle
02:02some hill fog as well so dull and damp start here.
02:06This zone of low cloud tends to creep north whilst another area of cloud and some drizzly
02:11rain also across central parts will drift north but in between some sunshine northern
02:16England, north-east Scotland and temperatures similar to Wednesday but a change on the way
02:21By the end of the day the wind picks up, rain starts to push in from the west and the next
02:27low appears on the horizon.
02:29Now there's some uncertainty about how far north and south this low will track on Friday
02:34and that will make a difference in terms of how far south the more unsettled weather will
02:37reach during Friday.
02:39But it certainly looks likely that Scotland, northern Ireland, northern England, perhaps
02:43north Wales as well will see some wet and windy weather sweep through during Friday
02:47itself.
02:48A lot of cloud in the north, the rain heavy at times, gales for exposed northern and western
02:53coasts.
02:54But further south actually a brighter start to the day for southern parts of England,
02:58south Wales with sunny spells continuing into the afternoon.
03:0213s and 14s in the south with the unsettled weather further north 10 to 13 Celsius not
03:07feeling very pleasant.
03:09But the low pressure and those weather fronts do move through and so later Friday things
03:15begin to settle down as that low drifts into the North Sea.
03:19And for the start of the weekend this large ridge of high pressure begins to build across
03:23the country and so that will certainly settle things down for Saturday and indeed for Sunday.
03:29I think we'll start off with a lot of cloud this weekend but with that high pressure in
03:33charge most places will be fine and hopefully it will start to brighten up as well through
03:38Saturday and Sunday with a bit more sunshine coming through.
03:41And of course with clear skies at night a greater chance of fog and frost.
