08 August - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather update.
00:02As you may be aware, it's all about sunny skies
00:05and high temperatures this week.
00:06If you're after rainfall, it's not good news,
00:09unless you live in northwest Scotland, where
00:11there will be further rain.
00:12Certainly through the day today, a lot
00:14of cloud here on the satellite image and outbreaks of rain
00:16across northern parts of the Highlands, the Western
00:18Isles, and the Northern Isles.
00:20But south of the Great Glen, it's generally dry.
00:23Quite a bit of cloud across parts of northern Scotland
00:25at times, some patchy cloud elsewhere,
00:28but most places, fine.
00:30Lots of blue sky, lots of sunshine,
00:32lifting the temperatures a little bit warmer than it
00:34was over the weekends, widely into the 20s,
00:38mid-20s across England and Wales, high 20s,
00:41perhaps across the southeast.
00:42A little cooler, obviously, with the cloud and the rain
00:45across parts of northern Scotland.
00:47That cloud and rain will continue into the evening,
00:49perhaps easing for a time before another pulse
00:52moves in overnight.
00:54Otherwise, again, most places dry,
00:55maybe a little bit of mist and fog
00:57here and there through the early hours.
00:59That'll go very rapidly on Tuesday morning.
01:02Temperature-wise, not too uncomfortable.
01:05Some towns and cities staying in the mid-teens,
01:07but mostly dipping down to 12 or 13 Celsius.
01:10But the nights are going to get warmer this week,
01:13as will the days.
01:15Strong sunshine again for most on Tuesday.
01:17UV levels will also be high in most locations.
01:21But a patchy rain over northeast Scotland early on,
01:23that will clear.
01:24The rain will ease across the northwest of Scotland, too,
01:26and may eventually pull away from Shetland by the afternoon.
01:29So most places dry.
01:31Lots of sunshine for Northern Ireland,
01:32southern central Scotland, and England and Wales.
01:35It's just a bit of a breeze across the far southeast,
01:38keeping some coasts here a little cooler.
01:40But it lands more widely into the high 20s,
01:44peaking probably at 30 Celsius somewhere
01:47across the southeast.
01:48Again, a little cooler with more of a breeze
01:50across the far north.
01:51But it does look drier here on Tuesday.
01:53Continued threat of some rain across the far north
01:56as we head through Tuesday evening.
01:58But again, elsewhere, if you're looking for rain,
02:00staying dry.
02:02And in the outlook, it's staying dry as well,
02:05because this air of high pressure is just lingering.
02:08These weather fronts just, at times,
02:10flirting with the far north will continue
02:11to bring the potential for a bit of rain here.
02:13But otherwise, high pressure, more sunshine Wednesday,
02:16Thursday, and Friday, and temperatures
02:18just rising day on day.
02:20So that by Friday, some parts of the south
02:23could be into the mid-30s Celsius,
02:26and that likely to continue into the weekend also.
02:29So yes, plenty of sunshine to come,
02:31not much rainfall to come.
