Louise Longster speaks after a coroner recorded a verdict of neglect
Transcript
00:00Both mine, the pain of losing Chloe will never go away. She was the best of us, a lover of
00:09life but will no longer be able to experience it. While nothing can make up for the loss
00:15of Chloe, we are pleased with the coroner's findings of neglect as part of her narrative
00:22conclusion. There was a catalogue of missed opportunities in care following Chloe's admission
00:28into hospital. Both mine and Chloe's grave concerns were either ignored or not taken
00:34seriously. Staff failed to identify that Chloe was in serious need of medical attention
00:42and no escalation was made that could have saved her life. Too many families have been
00:48through this heartbreak and needless tragedy. It's been excruciating this week listening to
00:55their disagreement on fact. Justice for Chloe is having her true experience finally heard,
01:03acknowledged and that no child will ever have to suffer again
01:07in the way she did. She should have been safe, she should have been
01:12in the safest place. Lessons must truly be learned.
