00:00Yesterday was the final day of this Major League Baseball season regular
00:04season or postseason that we will have more than two games on any single day a
00:10quadruple header of playoff baseball with spots in a league championship
00:15series at stake this is why we love the postseason this is why we love October
00:21does Donnie right side say the same a proud Philadelphia Phillies fan after
00:26what happened last night in Queens the New York Mets with Jose Quintana on the
00:31bump against a playoff start by the way in Rangers Juarez who was really good
00:36for the Phil's yesterday had a chance booked as a home favorite New York to
00:41earn a spot in the NLCS for the first time in nearly a decade they were down
00:47one nothing into the home half of the six the bases were loaded for the guy
00:52that if Shohei Ohtani did not exist would win National League MVP that's
00:57Francisco Lindor the star of this Mets organization the player they look to in
01:02those significant stages with the bases juice delivers a grand slam in a home
01:09half of the six to put the Mets in front four to one and to send the Amazons into
01:16the National League Championship Series for the first time since 2015 a memory
01:21DRS for this Mets franchise that will live on forever yeah it was a big moment
01:27there you know you ask your superstars to perform in the biggest moments and
01:30you got that from Francisco Lindor wasn't having a great series ended up
01:33hitting 259 which is okay but the impact of that one swing where they did not
01:37have a single run and turned it into four runs you know the game was over
01:41that point in the bottom of the sixth inning and also the New York Mets could
01:43have more runs than those fourth that fourth spot in the sixth inning the
01:46Rangers Suarez was absolutely buddy in that performance with a lot of key
01:50strikeouts same thing with the Philadelphia they got that one run lead
01:53you knew you needed more out of that there was still first and third with one
01:56out with a runner on third base after that error by Mark Vientos and then you
02:00say to yourself way oh well pop fly to right field and a strikeout and you only
02:05got one run when you could have increased it and certainly turned it up
02:08you saw that crowd which was so electric to start the game at Citi Field was
02:11absolutely dead silent by the fifth inning because nothing was going their
02:15way and you left the door open you bring in relievers that walk guys you bring
02:19in relievers that throw wild pitches you put all the leverage on closers
02:22coming into the game that aren't used to coming in in a bases loaded situation
02:25and you wind up with a grand slam victory there so I want to give credit
02:29to the New York Mets superstars we'd stepped up in the biggest moments when
02:32the Phillies players look shout out Bryce Harper at 333 in that series he
02:36was okay yeah Nick Costas hit 412 in that series everybody else
02:39Schwarber 125 Turner 200 boom 077 didn't even get a base hit hit 0 stop 182 I
02:47mean you got to be kidding March 077 you're not gonna win baseball games with
02:50two players out of nine show up for you that's what happens yeah DRS it is the
02:55case right he swore bomb to start the series on Saturday from Kyle Schwarber
03:01from then he was pretty lackluster at the dish Bryce Harper was the reason
03:07they had scored a run in the game infield was in runners on the corners
03:12Mark Vientos tried to go home lost the baseball on a potential throw but Jose
03:17Quintana has been incredible in this postseason five innings of work two hits
03:22one run scored against him but on what was deemed the error on Mark Vientos and
03:28DRS that is where we gave Philadelphia the edge perhaps in this series or
03:32against any of the teams still standing in the National League on the bump Zach
03:37Wheeler Aaron Nola as good as you will find did not amount into a series win of
03:43course for the Phil's we'll talk about the end of red October and this season
03:47for Philadelphia in the age-old debate of rest versus rust in the expanded MLB
03:53postseason but let's highlight what the Mets have done and Donnie there is going
03:57to be a conversation that New York was playing playoff baseball in the final
04:01month and a half so they were already groomed for these games where their
04:05season could be on the line or an advancement into the next round of a
04:09postseason that is true but the Mets have been the best team in baseball
04:14since the beginning of June 24 and 33 at the end of May nine games below 500 in
04:21fact picked up their first two games in June 11 games sub 500 from that point
04:27the best record in all of the bigs and for a team that has been on an
04:32incredible incredible run the last two weeks to the doubleheader in Atlanta in
04:37the winner take all game three wild-card round in Milwaukee where Peter Alonso in
04:41the ninth inning delivered a three-run bomb for the go-ahead in game winning
04:46runs and then everything that we have seen in this series against Philadelphia
04:50with late inning magic to be down by a run in the bottom of the sixth and have
04:56Francisco Lindor deliver it has been a Mets postseason run that is indeed
05:01magical yeah it is and also the playoff blueprint seems to be now used to be in
05:05the past been right give me a couple good starters here and we're gonna
05:07certainly knock out the other team now it's just make sure you get your clutch
05:11hitting there and it continues because those high leverage situations that are
05:14completely going to the bullpen and if I have a bullpen that outplays the other
05:17bullpen you probably have the advantage much more than even a great starting
05:21pitcher which is why it's almost like baseball in reverse over the past couple
05:24years of what we saw for the previous hundred years of Major League Baseball
05:27so the Mets were the better team in the book coming to the series that's always
05:30at the better one through nine if it was a starting pitching who is at the
05:34better bullpen and they lost the series and also reminds us that baseball is
05:37unlike any other sport and almost similar to hockey in a sense where you
05:40just got to get hot once you get to the playoff because these things are so
05:44close and impactful it's not like the NBA where you have LeBron James playing
05:47every minute of every game in a seven game series your best player is Zach
05:52Wheeler he pitched one game out of this you know set that they had in four games
05:56he doesn't pitch every game so the chance for your team to pull upsets in
05:59baseball much easier than a lot of sports. DRS Craig Mish has made this
06:04point he's our MLB insider I think it's rather sound with the expanded post
06:08season it's more so a tournament than a representation of the very long 162 game
06:14MLB regular season Pete Alonso two home runs in four games in this set Mark
06:20Fientos the error that allowed Philadelphia to score its lone run of
06:25the game but 12 of 28 in the postseason batting 429 he has been sensational for
06:31the Mets and again yesterday was the first playoff series clinching win at
06:37Citi Field ever the stadium opened back in 2009 the first playoff series
06:43clinching win in Queens since October of 2000 nearly two and a half decades ago
06:49DRS we'll get your thoughts on the Phillies on the other side but for a
06:53team that was the best in baseball for most of this year certainly at the
06:58All-Star break 28 games above 562 and 34 we'll get your thoughts on how the
07:05season will be remembered for Philadelphia we'll get to the other
07:09NLVS set as well as the Dodgers force a winner take All-Star break back in the
07:14middle of July there was no better team in the bigs than the Philadelphia Phillies
07:1962 and 34 in the final week before the break in Arlington they had just hammered
07:25the Dodgers in an intriguing set for who had pole position in the National League
07:30but Donnie after the All-Star break the Phillies started to struggle they lost
07:3516 of their next 23 games then figured it out down the stretch to hold on to a
07:41National League East divisional lead and earn a divisional crown but ultimately
07:46when all is said and done in four games in the NLVS the Phil season is over how
07:54will you remember the 2024 MLB campaign for your fight as a lost chance because
08:00coming into the playoffs I truly believe roster wise they were the best team in
08:04Major League Baseball not playing great baseball but you thought like maybe a
08:06couple days off they'd get the bats together you saw him probably break out
08:10in game number two and on your way you go that wasn't the case here and
08:13sometimes it is about getting hot at the end of the season but also keep in
08:16mind we don't have that great baseball team that's coming from the American
08:20League I like the Yankees I think they're gonna get to the World Series
08:23because the competition level is quite low it's not as if like okay we got a
08:27grind all the way through Ben and then you meet the Astros as hot as all get
08:30out in the World Series and try to take them down or if I just look at my
08:34Philadelphia Eagles you got to work your way all the way through and then you get
08:36the Patriots in the Super Bowl which they finally won in 2017 I thought this
08:40year was set up for them perfectly because I honestly didn't think the Mets
08:43even though we're hot we're all that good you see the pictures that they run
08:46out there starting lineup you should be able to church on that let me feast
08:49three four or five runs in a game should not be that hard for the sillies lineup
08:53but they just drew dead at the plate and that happens we've seen it time and time
08:56again and credit the Mets for being able to say you know what we have the perfect
08:59pitching of the goal against the Phillies let's throw left-handed junk
09:02sidewinders that the Phillies just can't say hey it's not a strikeout swing they
09:06swung at everything next year there do have to make changes and the Phillies
09:10will keep in mind this if the Phillies didn't make a single change you know Ben
09:13they'd be in the running for the best record in baseball next year in the
09:15regular season because that works that analytical approach swing from the heels
09:19not every night we're gonna get a good pitching performance not every night
09:22we're gonna get a best bullpen performance from the other team and they
09:25probably would win again mid 90s next year but that doesn't work in the
09:28playoffs you need guys that need to have the ability to go station to station and
09:33I don't even mean small ball Ben where it's like hey well I'm gonna punt every
09:36single time we get a guy on first base with no outs to move him the second I'm
09:39just saying if there's a runner on base a productive out means just as much as a
09:43hit in some scenarios here and the Phillies couldn't do that and you saw
09:46that in spades in the series the big hit move the runner over leadoff it's almost
09:51like Ben when you get a leadoff double in the playoffs it's like in the regular
09:53season all right good we got a run let's see if we get two in the playoffs so it
09:56feels like man I wish that was a home run because I don't even know if this
09:59guy's gonna get the third base at this point right now that's the struggle you
10:02have the Phillies need changes who knows if they can make them they have an owner
10:06that will spend money but what are you spending it on again I know they got a
10:08come in and hit 35 home runs in the regular season and strikeout in the
10:12postseason what gives better bullpen I don't know DRS you do bring up a good
10:17point though it's not a surprise that when you lose a game in whatever sport
10:22your offensive or scoring production is not nearly as high as in a win but only
10:27five runs scored by the Phil's in the three losses combined in the NLDS now
10:32let's get to the other division set around the National League a heated
10:37rivalry in Southern California where the Padres hammer the Dodgers really
10:42early on in game number three and in game two all day long the Dodgers
10:48returned the favor in game number four Dylan sees oh boy what a bad division
10:53set against this Dodgers team five innings of work he started game one he
10:59started last night eight earned runs allowed in total three given up last
11:04night the Dodgers got on top early Mookie Betts a homer in the first show
11:09hey Ohtani an early RBI another ribby out of bets as well and then Will Smith
11:14and Gavin Lux add on with a couple of two run shots the Dodgers dominate to
11:19force a winner take all game five back in LA tomorrow eight nothing the victory
11:24in game four it should be a good one and by the way Oh first to be eight runners
11:28left on base for the Dodgers you might say oh that seems like a lot but they
11:31went five of nine with runners in scoring position that is phenomenal you
11:35take a look at Padres who didn't score no surprise left nine on base went 0 for
11:39nine with runners in scoring position but this was a runaway right away and if
11:42you again if I would have known and I bet a parlay yesterday on the San Diego
11:46Padres a couple guys to get a base knock or two and also for the Padres to score
11:50three runs and this is why it's tough where I say I lose my edge in the
11:53playoffs the listed starter yesterday all the way up to I don't know noon or
11:57afternoon was knack he ends up pitching the ninth inning in a blowout because
12:01apparently they didn't want to use them and my handicap was based on him being a
12:04bad pitcher so good luck sometimes in the playoffs trying to figure things out
12:08but I know one thing that worked the Dodgers figured out a bullpen plan that
12:11shut up the red-hot Padres at the plate that was pretty impressive Dave Roberts
12:14lives to fight another day yeah he does San Diego blank where they had scored at
12:20least five runs in the opening three games of this series Ryan Brazier gets
12:25the start for LA we'll show you the odds for game five tomorrow night at
12:30Ravine and then go to the AL next the Dodgers force a winner take all game
12:38number five tomorrow back in downtown Los Angeles against the San Diego Padres
12:44eight guys the RS for the richest team in baseball although Shohei Ohtani's
12:49contract not exactly hammering the books at of this current point for MLB
12:55but they go with a bullpen game in eight guys get it done Ryan Brazier gets the
13:00start or at least the opener landed knack closed it out for LA eight zip the
13:07victory Mookie Betts has been sensational Dylan Cease has not been
13:12great Fernando Tatis jr. who has been electric one for four yesterday at the
13:18dish so here we are winner take all game five tomorrow here's the early look
13:22at the line of course we will preview this game the entirety of our Friday
13:27show on TEL the Dodgers open as a minus 144 favorite it's down minus 142 on that
13:36money line you Darvish has been tapped the starter for San Diego DRS TBD as of
13:43right now for the Dodgers might it be eight more guys on the bump for the
13:47Dodgers at the ravine tomorrow night it looks like it because you I mean it's
13:51kind of you can't do this in the regular season with bullpen because you just
13:54blow your bullpen out by the end of April so you sort of stretch it out and
13:58hopefully in the playoffs you have some good bullpen arms because you take a
14:00look at the Dodgers you know Brazier comes in yesterday he's got a four point
14:04nine one era in the playoffs which is quite high the rest of the what one two
14:07three four five six seven players that came in Ben they haven't given up an
14:11earned run in this playoff series which is absolutely incredible it's like all
14:14hands on deck pitching all the way through now if you are going to look
14:17once again a game number five the Dodgers will be a favorite as we stated
14:20just because they're home but also at the right time is you're looking at you
14:23Darvish on the now can he give you five to six innings of quality baseball like
14:27he gave you already in the series that's gonna be key because I don't know how
14:30long you could just rely it gets a good baseball team like the Padres and say we
14:34could just throw bullpen arms and hopefully we get away with it sooner or
14:37later that's really gonna catch up to you you would think you would think that
14:42the Dodgers are going to turn to Yoshi Yamamoto who started game number one but
14:47got roughed up allowed five earned in only three innings we shall see by the
14:52time we reach tomorrow night back in downtown LA now we go to Kansas City
14:57first playoff game at Kauffman Stadium since a World Series run way back in 2015
15:05and it was a good game between the Yankees and the Royals despite the lack
15:10of excitement from the broadcast booth but that's a different story for a
15:15different day the Pinstripes were a road favorite in Kansas City and I guess you
15:20could say the Yankees won more so Giancarlo Stanton gives the Yankees a 2-1
15:25series advantage in the American League division set the Pinstripes DRS
15:30recorded four base knocks as a team Stanton had three including the decisive
15:36in-game winning solo home run in the top of the eighth the Yankees take that
15:412-1 series advantage with a 3-2 win in Kansas City they're supposed to be
15:46Kansas City this is supposed to be a walk in the park for the Yankees like
15:49you know you know me being an Eagles fan a couple years back making that Super
15:52Bowl run you have the bye week then you come and play a bad Giants football team
15:55and erase them and then you play in the NFC championship game and Brock Purdy
15:59gets injured in the first half of that game and you cruise to a Super Bowl
16:01which end up losing here that's what I feel like the Yankees are you couldn't
16:04ask them for a better scenario to play the Kansas City Royals and then
16:07possibly the Guardians and or the Detroit Tigers this should be easy and
16:11it hasn't been for them and this is what playoff baseball is all about you need
16:15guys to step up in the biggest spots you would figure like okay the Yankees aren't
16:18gonna win this series if judge has been terrible judge has been absolutely flat
16:22out terrible and here they are the chance to close out the series with
16:25their ace on the mound tonight sooner than later you hope judge wakes up and
16:28when he does you're still hoping that you're getting good performances out of
16:31Juan Soto in that lineup and Giancarlo Stanton that can sort of buoy you and
16:35say all right until we get everybody in line we can beat these teams that are
16:39clearly just not as talented that's a good win for the Yankees and good for
16:42Giancarlo Stanton because one of those guys that's usually much maligned like
16:45well what did you expect out of Stanton in a big spot of course he's gonna
16:48strike out of course he's gonna hit into a double play he came through big time
16:51yesterday because Aaron judge couldn't come through big time big time three for
16:56five two RB eyes the only other run recorded for New York was on the only
17:02other base not they got in the top of the fifth Anthony Volpe had a single
17:06later in the inning on a Juan Soto RBI sac fly Volpe did score and now we're
17:13going to start to have the conversation around Aaron judge he can do whatever
17:17you would like in regular seasons but when it comes to October as of late oh
17:23boy one for 11 in the three games so far here in the American League division set
17:29of course way back in 2022 after the historic production in 62 long balls the
17:35most we've ever seen in the history of the American League he was 5 of 36 you
17:42tally that up he is 6 for 47 in the last two playoff runs for the Yankees might
17:49he deliver tonight that remains to be seen but the Yanks DRS as we look at the
17:54series odds and of course with an eye on game four it's going to be very
17:59difficult for the Royals to get out of this 2-1 hole they face Garrett Cole
18:04tonight they send out Michael Walker the pinstripes greater than a dollar and a
18:09half favorite on the road in KC if somehow they pull the upset of course
18:13they would have to travel back to the Bronx this weekend to try to win a
18:17winner-take-all game 5 it's why the Yankees are greater than a $5 favorite
18:21to advance the ALCS yeah and they should close them out tonight and it's no shame
18:25on the Kansas City Royals this is an unbelievable season with not a lot of
18:28high expectations to start you found some players that you think it can be
18:32those cornerstones for the next couple years and also playoff experience never
18:36hurts a team heading into the next season but the Yankees were the better
18:39team coming into the series the Yankees should be able to close it out and it's
18:42their perfect scenario on the road who would you want to close it out Garrett
18:45Cole he should be phenomenal I expect tonight and expect the Yankees to move
18:48on the Yankees now a minus 160 favorite to win the American League pennant with
18:54an easy path comes great pressure as well because who will the Yankees see in
18:59the American League Championship Series if they reach that stage more than
19:04likely it's the Detroit Tigers these gritty tides man they do not quit in the
19:09first playoff game in the Motor City in a decade the first playoff win at
19:15Comerica Park in 11 years the Tigers and the six guys that threw on the bump
19:22yesterday post a three nothing win against a Guardians offense that has
19:28stalled out in a big way the runs produced yesterday by Riley Green Matt
19:34Verling Spencer Torkelson finally getting on the stat sheet in the
19:38postseason all recording in RBI Detroit wins in front of the home crowd three
19:44zip over Cleveland I tell you like it's similar to the Philadelphia Phillies you
19:48look at some of these lineups and say this really can't be happening because
19:51you look at Kwan is actually hitting 455 Ben the Guardians in the series after
19:56that Manzardo zero fry 200 Ramirez 111 you have Josh Naylor actually the decent
20:01average of 273 then Thomas 182 Jimenez 100 Brennan zero Jankowski Noel zero
20:07Bo Naylor zero Martinez zero Hedges zero I mean what is it like somebody step up
20:13we're not even asking you Ben like it hey you got to get four base hits out of
20:17ten at bats how about two that'll actually work in the playoffs here they
20:20can't seem to get out of their own way but shout out to Detroit Tigers who are
20:23doing with basically a full bullpen effort but I gotta tell you this let's
20:27just say the Kansas City Rose can come back and knock out the Yankees then it
20:30would be let's just say you know the Tigers going up against the Royals that
20:33is a league baseball is actually running and hiding right now I mean send out the
20:38umpires that can rig this thing to make sure we get a good World Series people
20:42we need this come on the Guardians DRS scored five runs in the first inning of
20:48game one in the land before an out was even recorded they scored two more runs
20:55in the sixth from then they have not scored a run okay against Terrence
20:59schubel we would understand against the six guys yesterday that Detroit throw it
21:04out they call it pitching chaos in the Motor City and it's been working Brent
21:08Herter the 26 year old rookie from Canton Georgia records the win three in
21:15a third yesterday made ten appearances in the regular season it is just insane
21:20what AJ Hinch has this Tigers team doing with the momentum right now in the Motor
21:25City so Detroit will have an opportunity at home today to clinch a birth in the
21:32American League Championship Series to be the first team to do so Tanner Bybee
21:37gets to start for the Guardians minus 118 Cleveland is the road money line
21:42favorite against a Tigers pitcher yet to be named but hey we know it's going to
21:47be Terrence schubel if a game 5 is even necessary all right Thursday night
21:53football to Thursday night baseball 808 tonight in Kansas City Garrett Cole
21:57Michael Walker the line heavily favored here for the Yankees at minus 154 and
22:02seven and a half as a total will it be the worst saying in sports that so
22:07forced the Yankees win or will it be Kansas City tonight I don't think it's
22:15the worst saying in sports I enjoy hearing it I tried terrible anyway this
22:24is how this game goes one you got Garrett Cole now on regular rest off 10
22:28days rest first time he faced him in game one struggled through five innings
22:32gave up four runs allowed seven hits two walks not his best stuff back on
22:36regular rest also on the road this year well he's got a 276 era and opposing
22:40hitters are batting a buck 98 against him now on the other end the Yankees
22:44are facing Michael Walker who hasn't been good in the postseason since he was
22:46with the Cardinals 12 years ago so let's just leave that where it is they got to
22:50him the first time they faced him they have to be better on offense do you guys
22:54know have you seen this the Yankees a suture three for 24 with runners in
23:01scoring position through the first three games in this series there has to
23:04be some positive regression coming but here's the real rope more than anything
23:08if the Yankees don't score first and don't score early I think they're dead
23:12in the water tonight because they're open all for all for as good as it is
23:17it's slightly less effective when you're not pitching with the lead the Yankees
23:21only won last night because to a certain extent I want to say they got lucky with
23:25John Carlo hitting the home run because if he doesn't hit that home run I think
23:28the Yankees lose that game in action I genuinely do they have got to find a way
23:32to manufacture runs and it becomes a more and more of an issue that I have
23:36exactly one less hit this postseason than Aaron judge so at some point in
23:40time somebody in this lineup has to find a way to manufacture a run and I think
23:44they do it tonight a late a half run with the Yankees in the first five Cole
23:48should be good Walker should be bad somebody should be able to get a hit with
23:51runners in scoring position this is the moment right if you want to be a World
23:56Series contender with an easy path comes a lot of responsibility power and
24:01pressure this is the moment to match the significance of the stage to your points
24:07you know it was Willie G and Carlos Stanton getting a 3-2 win over the
24:12Royals three of the four hits for the Yanks last night to the three RB eyes
24:17over six with runners in scoring position and they had a lot of base
24:20runners maybe not all of them in scoring position but they drew nine walks last
24:25night eight in game one five four in game two 22 walks patients at the plate
24:32from the pinstripes in three games it has to matter and number 99 El Capitan
24:40you got to be better than one for 11 in this postseason I love it to know
24:45because you're such a diehard fan that you're angry at how bad your team is
24:49with one win away from a spot in the LCS that's fandom that passion that's
24:56Mark Zitto thanks for being here and it's a Thursday in October it's a
25:00doubleheader of ALDS matchups with spots in the league championship series on the
25:07line first in Detroit then in Kansas City the home team the Tigers have a
25:13chance to clinch a berth in the ALCS first then the road team the Yankees
25:18with their ace on the bump a really good chance according to the odds
25:22makers to clinch a spot in the ALCS tonight to help us get ready for all of
25:28that and look back on a quadruple header of action from a Wednesday it's our MLB
25:33insider and the host of Newswire starting at 11 a.m. Eastern Time that is
25:38Craig mesh Craig as always we appreciate the time thanks for being here on the
25:42early line of course good morning guys very fortunate here in South Florida we
25:48avoided a lot of the things that you saw with Hurricane Milton but no
25:52question place that I used to live in Sarasota and the west coast of Florida
25:57my thoughts are with everybody there today I know that there's a lot of
26:01damage a lot of closures and you know certainly hopefully they can clean
26:05everything that happened up on the west coast of Florida soon yeah we certainly
26:10send all of our thoughts to that area as well we all saw from a baseball
26:15perspective what happened to the trough last night the roof completely ripped
26:19off we hope everybody is safe in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton that
26:24continues this week all right Craig let's get to what we saw yesterday in
26:28Major League Baseball it is time to touch them all it's the Daily Bases
26:36the first five claimed of four in a league championship series who else but
26:45the New York Mets back into the NLCS for the first time in nearly a decade since
26:512015 a grand salami off the bat of Francisco Lindor in the home half of the
26:57sixth it was the difference it was a playoff memory forever for the Amazons
27:03last night four to one win in game four against Philadelphia Craig a lot has
27:08been made about this New York Mets team off to a dismal start 24 and 33 at the
27:14end of May but since the start of June no better team in the bigs what did the
27:19New York Mets figure out early in the summer to be the first team into the
27:23league championship series this season they figured out how to hit in the
27:28biggest spots of the game I don't know that to me is about it they've gotten
27:32some better pitching for sure and I has done a great job for them and now is
27:35going to be a major factor in the national championship series whoever
27:38they face off with whether it's LA or San Diego but it's just been timely
27:42hitting Ben I mean look they're down to their last out Pete Alonso hits a home
27:45run you know they're down and and Lindor hits a home run they're down with
27:50Vientos hits a home run I'm not saying they're lucky by any stretch but they've
27:53just had some really big hits in the last month or so of the season and
27:58that's really what's gotten them there and on the Philadelphia side I really
28:00don't know what to say they had a great regular season for those of people who
28:04watch at the beginning of the year I picked them to go to the World Series so
28:07I'm just as stunned as everybody else they're making a lot of their bullpen
28:10today let's be honest you score one run you do not deserve to win that's what
28:14happened to the Phillies yesterday exactly Philly's not a great plate
28:17appearance you get those clutches from the New York Mets that equates to
28:20victories and also how about this one Craig eight to nothing last night the
28:24Dodgers you better thought Clayton Kershaw back five years ago was on the
28:27mountain yeah the Dodgers needed him to save off elimination not the bullpen
28:31the bullpen was fantastic and that rowdy crowd out there at Petco the Padres no
28:37runs it heads back to Los Angeles what happened last night why were the Dodgers
28:41able to step up with that easy victory yeah look you know they they set the
28:45tone early with Moogie Betts and just kept the ball rolling there so to speak
28:49and they really did a nice job piecing together all of those pitchers that they
28:53used in the game yesterday and so Donnie the thing is is you know look the
28:58Padres were minus 150 in that game people forget that yesterday it was
29:01probably one of the biggest upsets of the postseason in one individual game
29:04and now they head back to LA and certainly they're gonna have I would
29:09think a much better pitching situation in Game 5 where their favorites here of
29:13minus 140 or above and I think this line will probably climb a little bit very
29:18close game to call I can't wait to see this one because I know what the
29:22emotions are gonna be in that stadium in Chavez Ravine. Oh it is going to be
29:26an intense atmosphere to say the least a winner-take-all fifth
29:32game in the NLDS between the Southern California rivals Craig quick follow-up
29:36for me before we go over to the AL who are your sources telling you might start
29:40Game 5 for the Dodgers might it be Yoshinobu Yamamoto? I mean Yamamoto is
29:46gonna pitch in the game I mean they're gonna have to pitch him I don't know Ben
29:49if it'll be in the first inning the third inning the fifth inning or
29:51something but they didn't get this far to not go all-in on this final game of
29:55the season and believe me there is a ton of pressure on this organization to get
29:58by you know look in the end in the end guys let's be real if they lose in the
30:03National League Championship Series and get past this it's still a deflating
30:06season for them but it's a disastrous season if they can't win a Game 5 at
30:10home against their division rival I would expect all hands on deck for this
30:14game and then they'll just worry about the Mets when they worry about the Mets.
30:18It would be a devastating loss Craig to the Padres who would bounce the Dodgers
30:22in the NLDS for a second time in the last three years three consecutive exits
30:27in the division series for the Dodgers if they lose tomorrow night they are the
30:33home favorites of course speaking of pitching advantages this is what you
30:37want if you're the Yankees Garrett Cole on the bump as a greater than dollar and
30:42a half favorite albeit on the road to earn a spot in the American League
30:46Championship Series will the Pinstripes punch their ticket with Cole on the
30:51mound tonight they may but there's no way I'm laying this kind of juice with
30:56the Yankees in any game right now in the postseason I think this is gonna be a
31:00really close game right down to the wire I mean you tell me that this game can't
31:04be 2-2 in the seventh inning and Cole comes out of the game and then who knows
31:07what the bleep happens at that point so I'll ride the under here at seven and a
31:12half I think that again you'll see a lot of pitching changes a lot of matchup
31:16based issues I think going on and and look the Yankees have barely outplayed
31:21the Royals in the series like by like one run I think this is going right down
31:26to the end anybody's ballgame here I think tonight but you know obviously the
31:30pressure is gonna be all on the Yankees the next two games if they don't win
31:33this one tonight and have to go back to Yankee Stadium tough scene first first
31:39up in the Motor City though the Tigers the first chance to earn a spot in the
31:43ALCS however the Guardians and Tanner Bybee a road favorite tonight in the
31:49Motor City Craig will we see game five back in the land or is Detroit on to the
31:53ALCS I think Cleveland wins today I do think we see a game five yes I do I
31:59think so these these series have been closest at some point Cleveland's gonna
32:02hit I think it probably is today and then it's scuba game five should be fun
32:06and then it's scuba game five in Cleveland where the Tigers were a road
32:10favorite earlier this week thank you for your time it all comes down to this
32:19a doubleheader of American League playoff action today in October two
32:24spots at stake in the American League championship series first in Detroit can
32:30the Tigers hold down the Guardians offense with pitching chaos once again
32:36to earn that spot in the ALCS it's not exactly pitching chaos in the second
32:42game of two tonight in Kansas City it's trusting in your ace Garrett Cole and
32:48the Yankees a greater than dollar and a half favorite in Kansas City against the
32:53Royals to earn a spot once again in the American League championship series minus
32:58154 DRS the updated money line price in favor of New York albeit on the road
33:04inside Kaufman seven and a half is the total is it correct is the natural
33:11thought the ace Garrett Cole is there it's too much for Casey to handle and
33:15the Yankees are going to be in the American League championship series when
33:19the night is through this is why you have Garrett Cole was why you pay him a
33:23lot of money you expect him to win in these type of atmospheres on the road
33:26closeout series to move on to the league championship series you take a look at
33:30his last 30 days 96 batters he faced he's been pristine a walk a walk
33:34percentage around 6% which is great how about the ISO 047 against how about the
33:39weighted on base percentage 231 against that's fantastic let's expand it out now
33:43to 60 days and take a look at some analytical numbers Garrett Cole's at 54
33:47and a third innings pitched here in ERA 2.15 and XFIP of 3.73 that's been
33:52fantastic but as I say that you take a look at Michael Walker he's been pretty
33:56good Ben over his last 52 and two-thirds innings over the past 60
33:59days his ERA 2.91 his XFIP number 3.86 you see that 7 a.m. I like the under
34:06yesterday and it stayed I think the under is a plate again today if I had to
34:10pick the side which I do like the New York Yankees was calling them out I just
34:13think they have a little bit more firepower than Kansas City I would lay
34:16that minus 156 price but more importantly you take that light juice at
34:19the 7 and a half minus 110 you bet that under I don't think we get eight runs in
34:23a closeout situation all hands on deck for Kansas City I think we get a good
34:27pitching performance on both sides this game stays under the total and the
34:30Yanks head in to the American League Championship Series and frankly Casey's
34:35bullpen has been sensational throughout this postseason and in a series without
34:40a ton of offense against the Orioles it was the bullpen delivering we saw that
34:44for Casey in game two in their only win in this in this series in the Bronx
34:50Garrett Cole did start game one got roughed up a little bit allowed three
34:55earned runs of course the Yankees did come back to win that game MJ Melendez
35:00took him deep but as Donnie said this was a 10 that was a 10 day rest period
35:05for Cole this is why you have Garrett Cole these are the spots with great
35:10expectation comes great responsibility and when your path is seen to be
35:14favorable you must capitalize that's what the Yankees have tonight to earn a
35:20bid once again to the American League Championship Series quickly DRS before
35:24we get to Detroit Aaron judge one for 11 so far in this postseason in the most
35:31recent postseason for the Yankees he was 5 of 36 he has not been great at the
35:37disc he's minus 250 to record a base knock tonight is that even worth playing
35:42the juice I mean they're pitching to him now right they're probably not even
35:46avoiding him like you probably would think because he's been so bad in the
35:49playoffs as of late it's like all right we'll challenge this guy and he'll still
35:52be able to get himself out I'm not one of those guys look tonight Aaron judge
35:56is night you got to be in good form for me to bet you like I'm not the type of
35:59guy that goes well as I saw is that Oh 25 and has waited on base percentage at
36:03189 tonight's the night he breaks out I'm staying away from all Aaron judge
36:06wages I am yeah listen I cannot fault you DRS in that expectation all right
36:12now let's get to the Motor City the Tigers a slight home underdog against
36:17Tanner by B and the Guardians can pitch in chaos for the Tigers continue in this
36:23set and in this postseason to earn a spot in the American League
36:27Championship Series or with by B on the bump are the Guardians the correctly
36:31favored side yeah let's focus on the Detroit Tigers who's a throwing out
36:35tonight's Reese Olsen you take a look at this last 60 batters that he's faced
36:38over the past month and great numbers 111 ISO 277 waited on beach percentage
36:42but let's break it down a little bit further been on the season 266 batters
36:46he's faced as a right-handed pitcher against left-handed batters a 121 ice
36:50you want to wait it on base percentage of 310 in his last 30 days he's faced 38
36:54batters that were left handers a zero ISO and a way to don't base percentage
36:58of 256 you say why is that important daddy why you break it down the left
37:01hand side well tonight anticipation for lineup Lane Thomas right-handed batter
37:05that is it everybody else will be left-handed batters for the Cleveland
37:09Guardians so you're going to take a look at Reese Olsen has been phenomenal
37:12against lefties that might be an advantage so instead of me actually
37:15taking a side or a total I'm actually looking more at hit props and RBI props
37:19from a Detroit Tigers perspective Tanner Bobby struggled with left-handed batters
37:23the first two batters in the lineup today Meadows and Carpenter 222 ISO 345
37:27ISO back-to-back here one of those two guys will get an RBI tonight that's the
37:31way I'm betting this one bet on to MLB playoff action we start in Kansas City
37:36between the Yankees and the Royals Tom New York sends out the ace in Garrett
37:41Cole to deliver a win and a trip to the American League Championship Series is
37:47it as simple as that tonight inside Kauffman Stadium I think it has to be
37:51given the way this series has gone we're seeing a handful of runs and then like
37:57you guys said in the previous segment the bullpens are legit good right we
38:00have seen some really locked down pitching for both teams a clear lack of
38:04offense judges doing nothing Bobby Witt is doing nothing in his first hit series
38:08last night I think it's reasonable to take Garrett Cole over four and a half
38:11strikeouts I think that's fine Micah Walker you could again go with the
38:15under it was pretty heavily juiced last time I saw it I think my favorite prop
38:18for this would be buying into a little bit of PvP which I'm certainly not big
38:22on batter versus right now be Tommy fam to record two plus total bases at plus
38:26175 he's great success here right again about PvP is a small sample size
38:32there's a lot of variance to it there's a lot of noise when comes to baseball
38:35statistics but it's a do-or-die game fame has been good this series and he
38:39kind of has Cole's number how about this let's flip it over to Cleveland and
38:43Detroit you see that favorite here for Cleveland on the road trying to stave
38:46off elimination and an ultra low total of six and a half by B versus Olsen what
38:50are you thinking here Tom this game has to be the under right I would be
38:55interested in taking Cleveland and their team total I would have to double check
39:00what is I assume it's two and a half or three and a half because they have not
39:03been scoring any runs Jay Graham has been extremely quiet at the plate but
39:06again their pitching has been legit good they're given by three runs if you're
39:09giving up three runs in a play game you think your team should be live at any
39:12given time so I play your props I think are extremely hit-or-miss I know Donnie
39:15you spoke about them in the previous segment but nailing down one player is a
39:19little bit much I will side with a good pitcher on the Cleveland side of things
39:23and that is why the Guardians are a road favorite more than likely the Tigers
39:28would be a road favorite if a game five is necessary and Terrence schubel gets
39:33the star
