00:00Hello there. Welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05We have some lively conditions outside through Tuesday evening, including the risk of some heavy and thundery downpours.
00:12Here's your warning zone for those thunderstorms extending from East Anglia, the Midlands, down towards central southern England, as well as the southeast.
00:20Low pressure firmly in charge. You can see the air is unstable.
00:24And in fact, towards the north, we do have strong winds.
00:27So we've got a mix of rain or showers through into Wednesday before the air turns colder from the north.
00:33That cold northerly wind streaming down the UK into Thursday with a lot of coastal showers, but some sunshine in between.
00:41The winds then open out towards the south through Friday. At the same time, we'll see some showery bursts across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:47But always the chance through the latter part of the week of some night frosts.
00:52Now, let's pick up on this heavy weather across England and Wales.
00:55Look at this. Some intense bursts here. And in fact, along the coastline, we could see some gales for a time.
01:02At the same time, clouds and outbreaks of rain across much of Scotland and far north of England.
01:06This wind streaming down from the north. So strong winds, gales across the far north of Scotland.
01:11And a little bit of showering can't be ruled out into the early hours of the morning across the eastern side of Northern Ireland.
01:17Here are your temperatures. 6 to 13 Celsius. Much colder over the next few nights.
01:23And certainly a windy start to the day, especially across Scotland as well as the far southeast.
01:28As you can see here, the winds are strong. But we lost a lot of those showers by this point.
01:33In fact, some quieter weather to start the day across central southern England.
01:37It's wet, though, across central eastern parts of Scotland as well as northern England.
01:42That wind delivering showers through the day across Scotland as the intensity of this rain clears eastern Scotland through the afternoon.
01:49At the same time, showers will develop across England and Wales.
01:52Some sunshine in between. These showers not as frequent or as intense as today.
01:58Even so, we could see the odd heavier one.
02:01Getting cold in the wind. Look at this. Temperatures only 9 or 10 across Scotland.
02:04Northern Ireland seeing 11. 14 across mid Wales. 17 down towards the southeast.
02:09And that wind really will be noticeable along the east coast of England, eastern parts of Scotland and even down the Irish Sea.
02:15A stronger wind here.
02:17Now through tomorrow evening and overnight, we lose a lot of this rain and those winds will pick up even further strength.
02:25So gales across the far north with a rash of showers.
02:28By this point, it's just showery rain across England and Wales.
02:31Just coming and going, sporadic bursts as we see some clearer skies across southern Scotland, northern England and in shelter across northern Ireland.
02:39So there could be a touch of frost, particularly in shelter across the far north there.
02:45But certainly a bright start to the day across many areas.
02:47A better day all round relative to the beginning of the week, but cold in that wind.
02:52And again, those coastal showers, which could penetrate further inland across Scotland, even with some snow over the higher ground.
02:59Your outlook then through Friday.
03:01We'll see more clouds come in across western Scotland.
03:03And with that, some showery rain extending further south.
03:06Brighter skies after a cold start, even with a touch of frost as temperatures only arrive around 11 to 13 Celsius north to south across the UK.
03:16And then come Saturday, well, there will be more clouds and also some showers again in the north as well as the west.
03:22Brighter skies further south and east.
03:24But again, it's a chilly old day.
03:26I'll see you later.
