00:00The Bacuna Eskwela Program of the Department of Health and the Department of Education
00:04has now reached its target of vaccinating more than 3 million students in Benidorango, Italy.
00:14It's time to vaccinate again.
00:15After a few years of being suspended due to the pandemic,
00:18Bacuna Eskwela has again opened to grade schoolers.
00:21DOH and DepEd partnered to vaccinate the 3.8 million students from grades 1 to 7 across the country.
00:28It started at Dr. Albert Elementary School in Manila.
00:32Its target is to lower the number of children who are sick.
00:35So even if their children cry,
00:37their children will be approved to be vaccinated for free
00:41against tetanus, rubella, diphtheria, and tetanus.
00:44According to the DOH, from January to December this year,
00:48the list of cervical cancer cases is at first,
00:50where there are less than 8,000 diagnosed cases and more than half are dying.
00:56This is followed by tigdans and rubella,
00:58where 11 are dying from more than 3,000 cases.
01:0225 are diagnosed with more than 200 cases of diphtheria,
01:06while more than half are diagnosed with 81 cases of tetanus.
01:10This is not forced, said the DOH,
01:13but they will take time to explain to the parents
01:16what is best for the children.
01:18Asek Galvan, his aunt died of cervical cancer.
01:24His mother vaccinated his son.
01:27A child who was vaccinated is a very good recipient.
01:30Sir, is this voluntary?
01:32Yes, this is voluntary.
01:34Sir, there are parents who are dying.
01:36What is the reason for this?
01:38We are trying to convince them.
01:40The good thing about school-based vaccines is that
01:42we know the children who are not vaccinated.
01:44So over the next two months,
01:46there is a schedule.
01:48We can go and talk to them and we can convince them.
01:50Our teams are coming back
01:53to talk to them about why they are not vaccinated.
01:55There are different reasons.
01:57Most are afraid of side effects.
01:59Because of the recent issues about vaccines,
02:0140% or 4 out of 10 parents
02:03agreed to vaccinate their children.
02:05We are already in the 90s.
02:0790% are willing to get vaccinated.
02:09But because of what happened in Denbaksha,
02:11it dropped to the 40s.
02:13Now, we are not recovering from this.
02:15His mother, Karen,
02:17gave HPV to his son, Briana.
02:19She is taking care of him because
02:21he has cervical cancer in his family.
02:23So when they found out that there is a free vaccine in the school,
02:25they went and got vaccinated.
02:27It helped me a lot.
02:29I asked other people what their opinion is.
02:31Everything I asked was positive.
02:33DOH and Handep-Ed
02:35are sure that the vaccine is enough
02:37and they will finish it within two months.
02:39The vaccine is life-saving.
02:41If you are not vaccinated,
02:43it is clearly disinfected.
02:45What can happen to a child
02:47in extreme cases
02:50if there is no vaccine?
02:52It is expected that this will be done
02:54in other schools
02:56across the country in the coming days.
