00:03from the season premiere of my show,
00:05The Irrational.
00:06So, this scene harkens back to me and my ex-wife,
00:14Marissa, played by Mara.
00:16We're working very tightly together
00:18in sort of a little sting operation.
00:21Alec?
00:30Hi.
00:31Hayley.
00:32How are you?
00:33I've been looking forward to this for a long time.
00:38Me too. Can I get you a drink?
00:39Yes, I would love that.
00:41What the hell, Hayley?
00:43Arthur, what a surprise.
00:46The divorce isn't even finalized,
00:48and you're out with some creep in my favorite restaurant?
00:50Is there a problem?
00:52You mind giving us a moment alone?
00:54I'd say that would be up to Hayley.
00:56One of my favorite things about when Alec gets into these spaces
01:01is he gets to be an actor in the room,
01:05and that sounds funny coming from an actor,
01:07but, like, he gets to be an actor as well.
01:11So it was a lot of fun playing in that scene.
01:13Now I see what you were talking about.
01:15Who the hell are you?
01:16Is the man behind the $10 million Medicare fraud scam?
01:20He's not as tall as you described him.
01:22It was over $30 million, and I deserved every penny of it.
01:25$30 million?
01:26Yeah.
01:27You sure about that?
01:28I am.
01:29I'm just checking on behalf of my ex-wife,
01:31the FBI agent in charge of your case.
01:34And you are under arrest.
01:39Arthur is a careful guy.
01:42The FBI was trying to coax a confession out of him
01:45for months but got nowhere.
01:47But when we're in a hot state like jealousy,
01:51anger, sexual arousal...
01:54When I get a chance to sit or stand in front of the class
01:58and it sort of does whatever we're learning in class that day,
02:02drives the story of the show.
02:05So I almost get to set the story up in class, if you will.
02:09For not only my class but the audience in this class,
02:12is that nearly all irrational behavior
02:15is driven by our emotions.
02:18So the next time you find yourself in a hot state,
02:22take a moment to consider how much you might inadvertently divulge.
02:28And use protection.

02:35Alec Mercer is teaching in the class.
02:38I still absolutely adore these kids in the classrooms
02:44because I know they're paid to be there,
02:47but they really do listen hard.
