00:30It turns out he has one key demand, and it's all about quality.

00:41That's not possible.
00:42In a sprawling profile in Esquire magazine, Garfield said,
00:46"...I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it's additive to the culture,
00:51if there's a great concept or something that hasn't been done before that's unique and
00:55odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into."
00:58It seems the actor is looking for a challenge, or at least something different for Peter
01:02to do this time out.
01:03That's no surprise, given that the actor had previously hinted his Marvel tenure is far
01:07from over.
01:08He's leaving the door open for more, saying that playing Spidey was a happy experience.
01:13He said that he'd be overjoyed to do it again, if it remains a happy experience.
01:17Plus, some loose ends left him feeling less than great about the way his version of Peter's
01:21story ended.

01:26A planned Amazing Spider-Man 3 was canceled after its predecessor disappointed at the
01:31box office.
01:32This killed all hopes that Garfield's version of Peter's story would finally be fully revealed.
01:37Sony has since decided that it's a better bet to share the Spider-Man catalog with Marvel
01:41Studios and Disney.
01:43This led to the Marvel Cinematic Universe trilogy of Spider-Man films and Tom Holland's
01:47Peter becoming a major part of the crazy quilt of characters that make up the MCU world.
01:52That had left Garfield and Tobey Maguire, star of director Sam Raimi's three Spider-Man
01:57films, out of the continuity.
01:59Until they rejoined it, that is.
02:01Garfield admitted that he was left unfulfilled by Sony's decision to cancel the Amazing series,
02:06so he was elated to step back into the webs for a clash of Spideys in the multiverse.
02:10He said of his role in No Way Home,
02:12It was really healing for me."
02:14That said, Garfield isn't just waiting around for Disney to give him a call.
02:18He's keeping quite busy with a series of challenging roles on both screen and stage.
02:23Not only does he have the romantic dramedy We Live in Time making rounds on the festival
02:26circuit and set for a wide release on October 18th, 2024, but he also waxed happily to Esquire
02:33about several other upcoming projects.
02:35He's in After the Hunt, a college drama in which he co-stars with Ayo Edebri, Julia Roberts,
02:41and Chloe Cervini.
02:43And he's filming The Magic Faraway Tree, about a family whose move to the Deep Woods reveals
02:47a magical world.
02:49He's attached to the Carl Sagan romantic biopic Voyagers as well.
02:53On top of all that, the actor would like to return to the Broadway stage after appearing
02:56in Angels in America and Death of a Salesman.
03:00But what does he really want out of life?
03:02He told Esquire that he's thought about buying and living on a farm.
03:05He explained,
03:06"...I'm craving a closeness to the earth and nature and other people, local community."
03:11Time will tell if that sense of peace finds him.
03:14Maybe being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man one more time will help him get there.
