Some might say that an Oasis reunion is long overdue. The famously feuding brothers seem to have let bygones be bygones as they have announced their comeback tour for 2025. But what connection do these famous Mancunians have with Liverpool?

00:00In August of 1994, Definitely Maybe jumped into the official UK album charts at number
00:06one, becoming the fastest-selling album at the time. Now, with Oasis reforming 15 years
00:11on from their split, we have been thinking about the connection Liverpool has to the
00:16band. In the early days, they were almost a Liverpool band because the real people, legendary
00:22Liverpool band, real people, they were friends with Oasis, they got introduced at an early
00:27gig, they recorded their early demos here in Liverpool and helped hone that early Oasis
00:35sound which was very like the real people sound themselves. And it's been acknowledged
00:40throughout the years and there's a co-writing credit with the real people. Oasis played
00:46at the world-famous Cavern Club here in Liverpool in the summer of 1992. We'd only taken as
00:53a company the Cavern over in 1991. Noel was asked about playing the Cavern years later
00:58and he said, yeah, basically, you'd think, yeah, it's the Beatles, it's the Cavern, bucket
01:04list, you know, but he's actually quoted as saying he was a little bit disappointed because
01:08when he played here, it was more like a wine bar, which I remember the Cavern when we took
01:12over, it was. Since announcing their reunion tour, demand for Oasis shows has been unprecedented.
01:19The Gallagher brothers even announced new Ponza dates before tickets even went on sale.
01:23We have been on the streets of Liverpool to ask if you are excited for the reunion.
01:28Oh, I'm pleased about it. I mean, they weren't quite my era, but they were the era when my
01:33kids were growing up, so I do like the music. I did have a few Oasis CDs, so yeah, it's
01:39good as long as they don't fall out again between now and the summer.
01:43I'm not a big fan of Oasis, to be honest, but I'm sure there's a lot of fans who have
01:47been really, really made up for that. But yeah, hopefully we're going to see them in Liverpool.
01:52My daughter will probably try and get tickets. She'll be straight on to try and get tickets
01:57in Manchester, I would think.
01:59I don't know a lot on Oasis. I do like Wonderwall, do you get what I mean? I used to go to a
02:04bar and listen to people singing, you know, you're my Wonderwall and all that stuff, but
02:09I don't know, I guess if it makes people happy, you know, why not? Do you get what I mean?
02:15Look Back in Anger, I love that. Yeah, yeah, most of them really. I mean, they did write good songs.
02:21On display in the cavern is the last drum kit used on tour by the last drummer of Oasis,
02:27Chris Sharrock. Chris is a good friend of the club and has kindly loaned the kit to
02:32have on display.
02:33I've said this when I've sung Oasis songs on stage, you know, I'd like to do a song
02:36by the world's finest Beatles tribute band and you do an Oasis song. There's truth in
02:40that. Noel's influenced, he's a writer, he's influenced by a lot of people. He's a big
02:43fan of Burt Bacharach, which I totally get and I can hear that in his songwriting. You
02:49know, some of those big numbers, the Beatles influence in Oasis songs are everywhere, you
02:53know, so huge. I mean, Don't Look Back in Anger is a lift from Imagine.
