00:00SCREEN QUEEN SAMARA WEAVING IS SILENCED IN THE HORROR FILM ASRIEL
00:05Set in a post-Rapture world where many have renounced speaking as a sin,
00:09Weaving's title character escapes being sacrificed by a cult
00:13and tries to fend them off while finding her captured lover.
00:17It's audacious on the part of Your Next writer Simon Barrett
00:20and Cheap Thrills director E.L. Katz to stage an almost entirely dialogue-free horror film,
00:25following in the footsteps of a quiet place and no one will save you,
00:28but they pull her off thanks to some fantastic sound design
00:32and just sheer kinetic visual filmmaking.
00:35Oh, and the always compelling Weaving who lets her expressive face do all the talking
00:40as she fends through this godforsaken land against zealots and burnt men that feast on blood.
00:46I really liked Asriel, I thought it flew by in just 84 minutes
00:50that are jam-packed with action, suspense and plenty of gore for horror fans,
00:55so don't be silent because more people should be talking about this.
