JULIA, 29, & Joanna, 29, are twins from California who describe their unique look as a 'haunted, other-worldly, doll-esque' aesthetic. The sisters are well known in their hometown for the creepy style they create every day. With a lot of inspiration coming from Tim Burton films, the girls love to push the boundaries with their look whenever they can. Julia & Joanna told Transformed: "We were always kind of just odd, outcasts and that really played into the creation of our style. Just kind of that haunting, ghostly feel that we try to put into our aesthetic every day. Our look is a reflection of who we are on the inside." Julia and Joanna get a lot of attention because of their striking looks, however not all of the attention is positive. They said: "We have had some bullying. Usually it's like old ladies that are religious. We've had them hold our hands wanting to bless us at the grocery store... But we just go along with it. God please help these two girls... We just try to hold in our laughter!" Today, with the help of makeup artist Crystal, Julia and Joanna are stepping away from their 'haunted doll' aesthetic and are being transformed into 'Ariana Grande inspired Pop Queens', but how will their father and Julia's fiance react? Will they like the new look twins... Or will they hate what they see and yearn for the dolls to return?

01:01So I would describe our style as doll-esque
01:04with elements of fairy and haunting.
01:09The key elements, I would say, are wigs.
01:11We wear wigs a lot, contact lenses,
01:14doing our makeup kind of doll-esque.
01:17We were really inspired by Tim Burton, too.
01:20Just kind of that haunting, ghostly feel that his films have.
01:25We hand make a lot of our things,
01:27like the shirts that we're wearing are handmade.
01:31This is a necklace, but I'm wearing it as a bracelet.
01:35We're twins, so we kind of were always in sync.
01:38Today we're being transformed from our living doll look
01:41to a pop star Ariana Grande-inspired look.
01:46And we're excited about it.
01:47I'm excited.
01:48Today I'm doing two makeovers on Julia and Joanna,
01:52and we're going to do an Ariana Grande-inspired makeup look.
01:56To achieve this look, we have the MAC Fix Blush
02:00to make her face look really fresh, like more dewy.
02:04And then for her cat eye wing liner,
02:08we used the Anastasia gel liner in Jet Black.
02:15And then the Rare Beauty Liquid Blush in Hope
02:19for that peachy color.

02:27When did you start dressing in this style and why?
02:30We kind of got into it at the same time,
02:33probably like middle school to high school,
02:36and it actually started as punk rock.
02:40We were always, I guess, kind of just odd and outcasts.
02:44So there's a lot of puppets and costumes,
02:46and that's just kind of always inspired us growing up.
02:49I really credit my grandma a lot, and my mom too,
02:52and honestly, my whole family,
02:54because they've always supported us and our self-expression.
02:58The way that we just decorate ourselves
03:01is a reflection of who we are on the inside.
03:04Yeah.
03:05So why did you want to do this transformation?
03:08I chose Ariana Grande because it's just like,
03:11I feel like it's very different than my usual makeup,
03:15but I really love the way that she does her makeup.
03:19And yeah, I just really admire her as a person.
03:23Do you get people judging you?
03:25We have had some bullying, I guess.
