00:00Jokes, accidental falls, and unexpected collisions.
00:04Filming a love scene can be serious, but it's also the perfect environment for an unexpected
00:08blooper.
00:09The title of the 2015 Will Ferrell comedy Get Hard is already a pretty obvious euphemism.
00:14It's the type of suggestive phrase that adults use to talk about sex, or sometimes to tease
00:19about events to come, like in this improvised session between two all-star comedians.
00:23Which is to say that this scene in Get Hard is strange because two people actually engaged
00:28in the act are still using those sex-hinting, metaphorical phrases.
00:31But the people here are skilled comic actors, Alison Brie and Will Ferrell, so their improvised
00:36double-entendres in this sequence are completely ridiculous.
00:39"...flag and a list of countries."
00:42"...yeah, I'm gonna get all the permits."
00:46At a certain point in the blooper reel, we don't even think the actors know what they
00:49meant anymore.
00:50All About Steve earned some of the worst reviews its leads Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper
00:55have ever seen.
00:56And for good reason — the very premise is too problematic for the good intentions
01:00of the movie to entangle itself from.
01:02All About Steve is a comedy about stalking, from the point of view of a woman aggressively
01:06stalking an uninterested suitor.
01:09This socially awkward Mary is romantically attracted to Steve and will stop at nothing
01:13in her unrelenting pursuit of this affection.
01:15After their first date, the two are flirting in his car.
01:18Or at least, Mary thinks they are, and Mary throws herself on top of Steve in the driver's
01:22seat.
01:23The encounter doesn't go as planned, and it went wrong for the actors, too.
01:26In multiple takes, the two can be seen breaking down into laughter.
01:32"...are you okay?
01:33Are you okay?"
01:34Of all the pairings over the course of the American Pie saga, the most memorable has
01:39got to be Jim and the apple pie to which the title of the series refers.
01:43After hearing from a friend that the texture of a freshly baked apple pie would be great
01:47practice for the real thing, he decides to do the unthinkable.
01:50While Jim was dead serious in his aspirations to score with the pie, actor Jason Biggs had
01:55to be the one guy to bring that scene to life, and he understandably saw the humor
01:59in the whole thing.
02:00The star couldn't make it through what looked to be the early takes of the scene, and broke
02:03down into laughter.
02:04At the time, the situation was likely too absurd for Biggs to realize this would end
02:08up being the most famous scene of his entire career.
02:11"...Jim?
02:12It's not what it looks like."
02:15It's standard romantic comedy playbook stuff that before the protagonists can get together
02:19with their one true love, they have to ditch the total jerk that isn't right for them.
02:23But that doesn't always mean the jerk doesn't have his charms.
02:26For example, at the beginning of Bridesmaids, Annie is dating a self-serving blockhead named
02:30Ted.
02:31One of the points that tips off the audience to the loveless nature of this relationship
02:34is the stale lovemaking.
02:36There are a few scenes of passionless sex between Annie and Ted, but the bloopers captured
02:40during those scenes tell a different story.
02:42On the set, Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm had a grand old partially closed time with each
02:46other by turning the whole situation into an elaborate football joke.
02:50Equipped with funny voices and excellent improv skills, these two have a chemistry
02:53the characters never were supposed to.
02:562014's adult-oriented rom-com Sex Tape was actually the first nude scene for the then-41-year-old
03:02Cameron Diaz.
03:03During the scene, Diaz and co-star Jason Segel lay at least partially naked on a cold, hard
03:08kitchen floor, while a huge film crew sets up for another take.
03:11In the blooper, you can only see the legs of the actors.
03:14There's nothing sexy about this at all.
03:17I'll take that as a compliment.
03:20One outtake can't tell you everything, but Diaz's outburst shows there is a cold, absurd
03:24reality of what it's really like to film a love scene for a Hollywood film.
03:28It's not glamorous, it's not romantic, and it's certainly not sexy.
03:32Granted, those also happen to be the themes of the movie about a likable but naive married
03:36couple who decides to make a sex tape.
03:39The classic 1998 rom-com There's Something About Mary features one of the most famous
03:43scenes in movie history, at least for male viewers.
03:46Teenage Ted pulls up his zipper and gets his junk caught up in it by accident.
03:49Is it the frank or the beans?
03:51I don't know, I think it's a little bit of both.
03:57On the set of the science-fiction tinge romance About Time, Rachel McAdams nearly made this
04:01nightmare a reality for co-star Donal Gleeson.
04:04Oh, sorry!
04:05No, no, it's fine.
04:07That was just the boxer.
04:10Gleeson, luckily, was okay, having just narrowly avoided being ensnared in the worst way.
04:15Ron Burgundy is the archetype of 1970s masculinity.
04:19With his macho attitude and huge mustache, the Anchorman main character is a hotshot
04:23who loves the ladies and thinks pretty highly of himself.
04:26He's also a guy who's not afraid to be a little wild in the bedroom.
04:29Will Ferrell plays this up in typical over-the-top fashion for the comedic actor.
04:33In one love scene, however, Ferrell seemed to surprise co-star Christina Applegate with
04:37his character work.
04:38For Ferrell and Applegate, this means a love scene full of lip-biting, licking, tongue-fighting,
04:43and making weird groaning noises.
04:45The bloopers, as well as the scene, are a man-child's idea of making love, a perfect
04:56fit for Ron Burgundy.
04:57Take me to Pleasure Town.
05:00Oh, we're going there.
05:01In the following blooper, we cut to after their encounter, when Ferrell is giving Applegate
05:05a drink from a coffee cup.
05:07Her laughing eventually causes her to spit up the liquid, which in turn causes Ferrell
05:11to break character.
05:13The build-up to the physical act of love is just as important as the act itself, but that
05:16make-it-or-break-it time was hilariously explored in Wanderlust, the 2012 comedy starring Paul
05:22Rudd and Jennifer Aniston.
05:23Rudd plays George alongside Aniston as his wife, Linda, in a comedy about a couple of
05:28underemployed Manhattanites who join a free-love hippie commune.
05:31In this heavenly free space, it's okay if George wants to hook up with Ava, played by
05:35Marlon Ackerman, and his wife can't get angry about it.
05:39It's still a difficult situation for the awkward guy to navigate.
05:42George is nervous and panicky as he prepares to get it on with Ava, and starts listing
05:46all supposedly sexy things he wants to do, some of which make sense but are awkwardly
05:50delivered.
05:51I'm gonna throw down.
05:52I'm gonna throw down onto you with my t-t-testicles.
05:59Some of his other come-ons don't make sense and are also awkwardly delivered.
06:03I'm gonna slap you in the eye.
06:05In this section of bloopers for this scene, neither Rudd nor Ackerman could go for more
06:08than a line or two without laughing at themselves or the other performer.
06:12I'm gonna get up on your bones.
06:18The Merc with a Mouth is a role that Ryan Reynolds was born to play.
06:21The actor is somehow even funnier, self-aware, and more self-deprecating than Wade Wilson
06:26and his alter ego, which must've made working alongside him every day on the set of Deadpool
06:30a constant struggle to not descend into hysterics.
06:33Judging from the movie's boisterous blooper reel, not even a consummate professional like
06:37Morena Baccarin could keep it together.
06:39Reynolds doesn't make it easy, with his wisecracks continuing between takes, and he kept his
06:43scene partners laughing.
06:44Baby, baby!
06:45I die, I die!
06:50These days, the Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake romantic comedy Friends with Benefits is most
06:55notable for coming out in the same year and having nearly the exact same plot as the Natalie
06:59Portman-Ashton Kutcher film No Strings Attached.
07:02In the former of these 2011 rom-coms, Kunis and Timberlake play young, attractive people
07:06who try to engage in a purely physical relationship with no emotional or romantic entanglement.
07:12As we all know, that type of thing is doomed to fail in a movie such as this.
07:15They keep things physical for a while, but the characters inevitably fall in love with
07:19each other.
07:20Being the young, attractive people they are, they get to see each other's vulnerable sides
07:23in bed.
07:24This is truer behind the scenes, where Timberlake is especially loose.
07:27I'm going to try to pleasure you.
07:30I'm going to use the force.
07:31Later, with his head under the sheets, Timberlake goes on and on about how men get hurt during
07:36these types of encounters.
07:37Throughout it all, Kunis cannot stop laughing.
07:39All I'm saying is if somebody screamed like this in bed, it would freak my a** out.
07:44Bill Ferrell does whatever it takes to get a laugh, an acting skill he proved with his
07:47breakout movie role as Frank the Tank in Old School.
07:50The film showcases an early version of the archetypal Ferrell, overgrown man-child character,
07:55a guy in his thirties who falls back into the anything-goes world of college fraternity
07:59life.
08:00Frank is up for absolutely anything if it means getting his or sticking it to the man.
08:04This applies to his overall horndoggery and sexual ambition as well.
08:08Combine Frank's gonzo instincts with Ferrell's, and what results is this blooper of Ferrell
08:12seriously insistent on putting the moves on a doll.
08:15I love you.
08:20He goes for the makeout so hard that both he and the doll topple off a desk and fall
08:24onto the floor.
08:26In the mid-2000s, Ashton Kutcher was a go-to leading man for romantic comedies.
08:30One of the less-remembered entries of Kutcher's run was 2005's A Lot Like Love, in which Kutcher
08:35and Amanda Peet play two good-looking people who slowly fall for each other.
08:39It's an innocuous premise, and its genuinely tame and predictable execution doesn't do
08:44anything to spice that up.
08:45The actors, however, brought their own spice to it, since some of the outtakes are a bit
08:49more racy than you might expect from this PG-13 comedy.
08:52One blooper comes filming an outdoor nude scene.
08:55No need for a fluffer.
09:03For the innocent among us, that profession is of a person on the set of an adult film
09:07who keeps male performers ready to go during breaks from the scene.
09:10It's a bit of an R-rated joke for the audience A Lot Like Love was going for.
09:14Jason Segel wrote the screenplay for Forgetting Sarah Marshall about overcoming a devastating
09:19breakup.
09:20It's supposed to be a movie about a guy who isn't seeing much action in the bedroom, which
09:23makes the love scenes in Forgetting Sarah Marshall a long-awaited and hilarious treat.
09:28When Peter eventually gets back together with the titular Sarah Marshall, played by Kristen
09:32Bell, the two rekindle their love for one another and they try to hook up, which leads
09:35to the series of plot-relevant failures in the bedroom.
09:38In this outtake, Segel can't get through his lines without giggling.
09:41Bell isn't making it easy for him to regain his composure, though.
09:45"...like a milk gallon."
09:48The way Bell delivers the line, not even the best comedic actor in the world will be able
09:51to keep their composure.
09:52Baron Cohen
09:53For years after the release of Borat, many Americans only knew actor and comedian Sacha
09:57Baron Cohen for playing the Kazakhstani documentarian.
10:01But in 2002, a couple of years before Borat blew up, Baron Cohen made a film for an overseas
10:06audience, based on his first original character, wannabe gangster Ali G from The Ali G Show.
10:11Unlike the improvised mockumentary style of Borat, Ali G in Da House followed a more
10:15traditional fiction film format, allowing for scenes that needed to be repeated across
10:19multiple takes.
10:20Naturally, with the talent involved, Ali G in Da House has bloopers galore.
10:24One such scene is absurd, but we will count it here since there is lovemaking happening.
10:28Ali G is not engaging in it, though, as he sits on the bed while two actresses get things
10:32started under a blanket behind him.
10:34In classic degenerate fashion, Baron Cohen sticks a ball on his crotch and he calls a
10:38dog named Tupac up onto the bed.
10:40Tupac, as dogs do, goes for the ball.
10:46In Neighbors, Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne play a couple struggling to find time for intimacy
10:50and reclaim what's left of their youth following the birth of their baby.
10:53In one scene, Rogen and Byrne's characters are supposed to be stealing a moment for themselves,
10:57only to realize that the baby is watching them do it.
11:00That's a lot of pressure to perform, we admit, and not even the actors could do the task
11:04right on the first try.
11:05Being stared at by a grinning infant tends to completely unnerve anyone, even if it's
11:09for a movie.
11:10In the outtake, Byrne and Rogen can't keep their composure, or even a straight face.
11:14"...actually scarring this child, though."
11:18Giovanni Ribisi admirably tried to lighten the mood during a tender scene for Seth MacFarlane's
11:22Western parody A Million Ways to Die in the West.
11:25Opposite Sarah Silverman, Ribisi played one half of a couple practicing abstinence who
11:29inevitably is tempted to have sex before marriage.
11:32In this scene, Ribisi is lying in the bed while Silverman stands above him, ready to
11:36join in.
11:37While the actor is all over the gag reel with crack-ups of all sorts, this Ribisi scene
11:40in particular made the blooper reel due to a bit of well-executed, improvised physical
11:45comedy.
11:46"...I mean, I kind of do this."
11:49Sadly, this bit didn't make it into the final cut of the film.
11:54Before his TV and film career took off circa 2005, Steve Carell had an extensive improv
11:59background.
12:00To this day, he can be funny or spontaneous on the spot while also staying completely
12:04in character.
12:05This talent has led to some great bloopers that have endeared us to Carell over the years,
12:09be they on the set of The Office or in one of his many films.
12:13But one outtake from the comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin was so ridiculous that even Carell
12:17couldn't keep a straight face.
12:19In a blooper from Carell's breakthrough comedy, the comedic actor can't stop making co-star
12:23Catherine Keener break out in hysterics.
12:25"...One more time for good luck!
12:28One more time!"
12:30Carz's fantasy drama, set primarily in 18th-century Scotland, offers something for everyone.
12:36Political intrigue, beautiful cinematography, and steamy romance, the show has love scenes
12:40galore.
12:41The main pairing is between 20th-century transplant Claire and debonair warrior Jamie Fraser.
12:46This sexual chemistry is there from the start, and needless to say, the show wouldn't work
12:50without it.
12:51Even when the two characters marry out of necessity and haven't yet fallen in love,
12:54their futures are intertwined.
12:56Even in the early episodes of Outlander, Katrina Balfe and Sam Heughan have clearly developed
13:00a casual ease with one another.
13:02If the season one outtakes are to be believed, these two have reached the ascendant point
13:06where filming these bedroom moments is more silly than awkward.
13:09"...This is so horny!"
13:12At the start of the Amy Schumer comedy, Trainwreck, Schumer's character Amy is a shallow party
13:20girl who will eventually learn the error of her ways.
13:22First, she has to break up with the bad boyfriend.
13:25In this case, it's the dirtbag Jim Ratt-Steven, played by John Cena.
13:29In Trainwreck, Cena plays a very attentive lover to Schumer's character, but neither
13:32performer can get serious, even for a second.
13:35"...I was just getting done at the gym, and you were coming out with a fat burger?"
13:38"...I was gonna fucking kill you.
13:41Say the pizza thing!"
13:44The two continue to ad-lib, in a seeming attempt to make each other only laugh harder.
13:48Very little of it makes much sense.
13:50"...Do the Mandarin thing, do the Mandarin thing."
13:52"...We should Jung-Win.
13:53Sorry."
13:54"...What does that mean?"
13:55"...I'll be Chinese."
13:57Amazon Prime's royal queer rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue has its fair share of crowd-pleasing,
14:02steamy scenes.
14:03When the son of the United States president falls in love with a British prince, there
14:06is sure to be forbidden love.
14:08During a particularly energetic affair, Prince Henry embraces his secret lover, Alex, and
14:13the two begin to kiss passionately.
14:15Then they fall to the ground.
14:21In another blooper, the pair is kissing, and actor Taylor Segar-Perez blows a raspberry
14:25on Nicolas Galizine's neck.
14:28"...Go to America!"
