00:00Susan, if you were to become a beauty queen, what would be your motto or what would you say to the kids?
00:09I believe that children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.
00:14Show them all the beauty they possess. Give them a sense of right to make it easier.
00:22Let the children's laughter.
00:25The ending should be, I thank you.
00:27I thank you. I haven't finished yet.
00:29This is what we learned from the beauty that the scene is different.
00:33The action theme of life was chosen.
00:36That is my story, DAPAT ALAM MO!
00:44From her posture, aura, beautiful clothes and face,
00:48her appearance is not recognizable as a beauty queen.
00:52But her world seems to have turned because from pageantry, she went to the military.
01:11Currently, Rosa is a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy in San Diego, California.
01:16In 2021, Rosa flew to the U.S. to join the U.S. Navy training.
01:21But before she can get a job now, she first became famous in her own beauty pageants.
01:26I don't really go out of the house.
01:28I think that's one of the reasons why my mom pushed me to join pageants when I was 13.
01:34Because I was really shy as a teen.
01:37From the barangay and citywide pageants, she was chosen.
01:41One of the winners of Rosa is the winner of General Tria's second runner-up in 2018.
01:46The Binibining General Tria's second runner-up is candidate number 11,
01:52Rosa Camila Mignez of Barangay San Francisco.
01:57I also love Binibining General Tria's and also that's my hometown.
02:02So it really was home for me.
02:05From beauty, Rosa suddenly changed her career.
02:08So I reached out to my dad. I asked him for help.
02:12And he said, you can join the Navy because the Navy can pay for your schooling.
02:17Maybe this is my chance to reconnect with him.
02:21Like go there and reconnect with him and have a relationship with him.
02:25Her mom pushed her to join the Navy.
02:27She was the only one who flew and stayed in the U.S. in 2021.
02:31She trained in the U.S. Navy for almost three months.
02:35Our training is mostly like isolation.
02:38We would work out.
02:39We are more on like cleaning, cleaning.
02:42It's mentally challenging.
02:44It was the biggest thing for Navy bootcamp.
02:47After the bootcamp, Rosa studied as a combat medic in Texas.
02:52And this July, she was appointed as a 3rd Class Petty Officer of the U.S. Navy.
02:56If you're not happy with what you're doing,
02:58if you think you're calling it something else, just try.
03:03You'll be surprised of what you're capable of doing.
03:06From ramping up and getting better,
03:08Rosa is now playing a new instrument.
03:11She's proving to the world that there's a chance for a different path
03:15to go to a real career that will make you happy.
03:18That's the story you need to know.
03:20Your set of nerves is okay.
