00:00three after a remarkable year of five marathons the backstage marathon champion once again for

00:092023 is going to be the brilliant melissa gibson it was touch and go whether she was going to run

00:17this morning she turned up she did it melissa is nice our 2024 champion

00:24congratulations

00:31no i'm really grateful like i've still got some tendonitis and i was about 11 minutes

00:37faster last year so it wasn't my best run but i was just so happy and grateful to be running

00:43and i'll kind of try to keep improving from here i guess yeah so i mean how did the race

00:48develop then because you're quite close at the finish i know i i was running for my life down

00:53the home straight um because i wasn't expecting to do i thought maybe if i aim for sub three

00:59and i didn't really worry about the other girls i knew flair was running so i just kind of presumed

01:05really you know she would win but i knew rachel would be on my tail so rachel kept the pressure

01:10on particularly at the end so so were you always quite close yeah we played cat and mouse me and

01:16rachel and then i think after halfway with um court player i think i'm not sure if she was

01:22injured yeah she was way ahead but i think she ran into problems yeah yeah oh well but

01:33it's funny though this last year was my 90th yeah and this was 103

01:38for the past six months she's been quite quiet yeah yeah because of your injury

01:43incredibly and also england athletics don't like me to do too many marathons

01:52so i'm trying not to go crazy and be silly okay i'll do a few more and then focus on that

01:59no world 100k

02:02i kind of thought this was a good indicator if i could wait three hours here
