00:00The fans here know the battle that Eric Almirola has gone through in his racing career.
00:04It was 2017 at this very racetrack where he broke his back in an accident.
00:13And now back to victory lane.

00:22Yeah, big win here at Kansas Speedway for Eric Almirola, a fan favorite with the burnout
00:27he just did on the start-finish line.
00:30Wow, what a run for you and this team today, Eric.
00:35That last green flag stretch, it's like you knew you had the car to beat.
00:40You were so methodical overtaking Cole Custer and waiting.
00:44How patient did you have to be over that last run?
00:48Really patient.
00:49I obviously wasn't patient earlier in the race.
00:54I'm wore out.
00:55That was a long day or a hard day at the office, especially for a guy that's been sitting on
01:00the couch.
01:01Yeah, I just overdrove.
01:04I knew we had such a great he gets his Toyota GR Supra.
01:08I was able to get by everybody on the long run.
01:12And I just pushed too hard there when we had the issue on pit road.
01:19And I got in the fence and cut the right rear tire down.
01:22So I knew I had to put my head down and go to work after that.
01:25We got lucky to get the caution when we did.
01:28And then we were out of tires.
01:29So the fact that it went green there to the end, and that's where we were strong.
01:33We were really strong on the long run.
01:35Yeah, it just worked out.
01:37I want to thank God first and foremost.

02:15So I've told them all week, I'm like, man, I'd love nothing more than to share a beer
02:19with you guys in victory lane and go get our picture made.
02:22And I got a really good friend of mine, George, who's been with me through thick and thin
02:27with Smithfield.
02:29And he lives here in Kansas City.
02:31And I told him, I was like, man, I hope you come to the race.
02:33I've got a good feeling about it.
02:35So going to celebrate with him and Janice in victory lane.
