Barisan Nasional's Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah has officially won the Mahkota by-election with a 20,648-vote majority.

Returning officer Azurawati Wahid made the announcement at 9.11pm at Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Ismail, Kluang on Saturday (Sept 28).

00:3940-year-old Syed Hussein won the seat after garnering 27,995 votes,
00:46while Perikatan Nationals candidate Muhammad Haizan Jafar received 7,347 votes.
00:53According to the Election Commission,
00:55only 53.84% out of the 66,318 Makota voters
01:02turned out to cast their ballots in the Bayh election.
01:05This is a slight drop from the 55.7% voter turnout
01:10during the Johor state election in March 2022.
