Deepak Chopra isn't turning his nose up at artificial intelligence ... rather, he's encouraging others to embrace the technology as the next step in human evolution.

00:00You have so much wisdom, how do you encapsulate that in an AI program so that when somebody
00:09asks a question like that, they're getting this from Deepak Chopra and it's not just
00:15some AI algorithm?
00:16Yeah, it's not an AI algorithm, it doesn't go to search engines.
00:20It only goes to my 95 books, which I've written over the last 40 years.
00:26It looks at all the videos that I've done, which I do every day, it looks at my weekly
00:31column at the San Francisco Chronicle, looks at my monthly column at London Times, and
00:38then for the last 30 years, I've answered one question a day.
00:43So it looks at all the thousands of questions, and then it answers it in a contextual manner.
00:50And there's also something called RAG technology, retrieval, augmentation, generation, which
00:55means if I've said something in the past that is now irrelevant, it deletes that, and then
01:01it incorporates the latest information, which is scientifically validated.
01:07And it cannot hallucinate because it doesn't look at search engines, only my stuff.
01:11This is not where I saw AI going, but it is pretty interesting that you found this way
01:17that it can actually help people instead of terrify them.
01:22Technology is part of human evolution, as is language.
01:26But now we have many languages.
01:28We have the language of physics, biology, astronomy, religion, philosophy, spirituality,
01:35mythology, and there's no human being who can access all these languages.
01:40So with language as our strength, and particularly the strength of Homo sapiens, and technology
01:50combined, we now have access to all the wisdom and all the knowledge that humans have created
01:58since the beginning of time.
02:00This could change the way people get therapy.
02:03Rather than getting an hour a week with a therapist, if this becomes sophisticated enough,
02:09you could engage all week long with a program if what's behind it is kind of that wealth
02:16of knowledge that you have, and you could get literally 24-7 therapy right on call.
02:25There are people now talking to my digital twin 24-7, asking a hundred questions a day,
02:33and they are dependent on it.
02:35I also created a chatbot a while back, and it intervened in 5,000 suicide ideations and
02:43was talking to 20 million people simultaneously.
02:45Again, no human being can do that.
02:48But technology is here to take us, to leapfrog us into a next phase of our evolution.
02:56Not just our evolution as a social species, but as a biological evolution.
03:03Every time you get a new insight, a new epiphany, a new creative insight, your neural networks
03:13change.
03:14So AI will not only leapfrog our evolution as a social species, but also a biological
03:20evolution.
