Moo-Deng the Baby Hippo refers to a female pygmy hippo named Moo Deng who was born at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand in July 2024 and went viral online in September of that year. 00:00You know how the internet usually obsesses over cats, sometimes dogs? Well, finally a

00:07non-traditional animal is making the rounds on social media and online. Meet the newest

00:12internet sensation, Moodang, the baby hippo. Probably not saying that correctly. I'm

00:15gonna call her Moo throughout the video. This cute little pygmy hippo was born at the Khao

00:19Khao Open Zoo in Thailand in July 2024, and right out of the womb, it was destined for

00:24virality online. Photographs and videos of Moo instantly went viral, in particular this

00:28really cute image where she's being sprayed with a water hose while looking mortified.

00:32That's right, the reason this hippo is so viral is she looks visually perturbed, like

00:35she really doesn't want to be sprayed with that beam of water. I mean, think about this

00:38lifetime line so far that she's had. Comes out of the womb, immediately tons of eyes

00:42on her, and she's being sprayed within weeks. It has to be confusing for her, but for us,

00:46we're in hippo heaven. The first photograph of this little hippo was posted just 15 days

00:50after her birth on July 25th on the zoo's official Instagram page. Her mouth was already

00:54open, looking very happy and healthy. We stan this hippo. I have to say, she is really adorable.

00:58Gloria the hippo stonks are looking real good right now. The name Moo Dang quite literally

01:02translates to bouncing pork. It's like a soup-like dish made from ground pork. I love naming

01:06animals after food. I think cats should just be named fish, and fish should be named cat.

01:10I think it's just funny, like imagine a hippo named Taco Bell, that would be great.

01:13In the following months, the Open Zoo's official social media page would share multiple photos

01:17and videos of the hippo, because how could they not? This thing is the cutest lump I've

01:20ever seen, and I've at least seen a couple of those. This simple photograph of Moo being

01:23lifted up, in which she's giving her signature cry for help shriek, was posted on August

01:2726th on Twitter, and guess how much attention this got? A lot. 4.6 million views. I think

01:33it speaks to the human experience on a primal level, you know, screaming, shrieking. The

01:36whole world is a frick. I would love a painting of this image, it would go good in a gallery.

01:39Immediately fan art started ushering out, like this drawing by Sarttanis. This hippo

01:42was too cute not to draw, but this was just the beginning. This next photograph would

01:46change Moo Dang's history forever. On September 5th, 2024, this image of Moo Dang getting

01:52absolutely blasted with a stream of water went viral. For some reason, she just has

01:56her mouth open in every image. I like to imagine she is hitting an epic note yodeling

02:00or something. Either way, the fan art really started to pour out after this slew of images

02:03reached the web. One of my favorites is this collab by Glittering Grimm, which received

02:07hundreds of thousands of likes. So cute, and always screaming. Another great heckin'

02:12chonker hippo derp was drawn by Dew Enjoyer. This thing is rotund, wow, that's a beautiful

02:16hippo right there. This reminds me of Big Yoshi, just something about these images has

02:20such a great quality. Someone even came up with a baby hippo makeup routine, aww, products!

02:26I love how some users describe her on social media. Obsessed with this one baby hippo that

02:30looks mortified, or inexplicably moist at all times, slightly blurry in most photos,

02:36probably screaming, round. God, she's perfect. But yeah, just look at this great hippo fan

02:40art, wow. Hippo in ramen, hippo animations, hippo pixel art, Moo Dang might be the most

02:45famous hippo of all. Move out the way Gloria and Hippowdon from Pokemon, you just met your

02:50maker. Moo Dang sweep. Add her to everything, I want to see a cameo in every movie, I want

02:54her in every video game, this hippo is saving lives. Anyway, really happy to review this

02:58great animal today, just some good wholesome fun. I would also scream really loud if someone

03:02blasted me with a harsh water hose, maybe we all aren't so different, Moo Dang and us.
