00:00Hey, Scott, let's do a college football roundup for week three. I'm going to start with coaches.
00:11You and I talked in the offseason about who has the hottest seed. It was Billy Napier
00:16of Florida. That obviously hasn't changed. Big opening day loss to Miami. And then this
00:21past Saturday, Texas A&M in the swamp against a true freshman quarterback and Florida gets
00:29trucked by the Aggies. It's really just a matter of when, not if Billy Napier is going
00:35to get fired. I think that happens during the regular season, probably soon. So how
00:40about replacements? I think Florida has to go for a proven coach, preferably someone
00:46who has an offensive mindset and has had success in the SEC. Let me throw a few names out to
00:52you. I'm going to start with Jed Fish, a Florida alum. It reminds me a little bit of Pharrell
00:57and that he went to Florida specifically to learn from Steve Spurrier, much like you
01:03did at Indiana with Bob Knight. And then Fish has had success out in the Pac-12 with Arizona.
01:09Arizona obviously now with the Big 12. Three current SEC coaches to keep in mind. Number
01:14one, Kentucky's Mark Stube, 12 years in Lexington, turned a football school, turned a basketball
01:20school into a football school, has done a great job. Great foundation builder in Kentucky.
01:26Number two, Eli Drinkwitz at Missouri, offensive-minded coach, done a great job with Mizzou. He's
01:32got them in the top 10, 41 years old, very popular, excellent recruiter. I think he'd
01:38fit in at Florida. But the home run higher for the Gators right now is Lane Kiffin at
01:44Ole Miss. Go out and get Lane Kiffin. Anytime Florida's been great, anytime they've competed
01:50for national championships, it's been the offense. Steve Spurrier, Urban Meyer, Kiffin
01:56I think would fit in perfectly. Great recruiter. Keep this in mind, Scotty, too. Whoever Florida
02:02hires has to first keep DJ Lagway from leaving Gainesville. You cannot afford to lose the
02:09franchise quarterback. I think Kiffin would be perfect. The portal king, I think he'd
02:14keep Lagway out of the portal. So a lot to watch on the coaching front. Now week four
02:19quickly, two games to watch. Tennessee at Oklahoma. Tennessee's been phenomenal so far
02:26this year. Tennessee, one of the six SEC teams ranked in the top seven going to Norman. Oklahoma
02:32has struggled so far this year, but they've got an opportunity to make a national statement.
02:37And then USC at Michigan. It kind of feels like New Year's Day, feels like Rose Bowl
02:421982. But instead, it's USC as a Big Ten game going to Michigan. Michigan's out of the national
02:49title picture. USC is not. They already have a ranked win against LSU in the opener, now
02:54have a chance to showcase that new defense and quarterback Miller Moss in Ann Arbor.
03:00If they pull off this win, two ranked wins in September, I think we have to start talking
03:05about Troy as a possible playoff, deep playoff run contender.
03:09Wow, there he is. Rich Cermonello. Great stuff. And what's your thoughts? I saw you reacting
03:16to the Lane Kiffin talk.
03:18Right. And it's not just Rich. I've seen several people bring this up that Lane Kiffin should
03:23be the first guy that Florida calls. Like, I'm just gonna say this guy, like he already
03:28makes over nine million dollars a year as the head coach at Ole Miss. He's building
03:34something there where, I mean, there'll be a playoff team this year at Ole Miss. And
03:39let me ask you something, Sky, where is there more pressure to win in Gainesville or in
03:44Oxford? And I get it. They're both SEC schools. But I think he's got he's now entrenched there.
03:50He wins. I know you got to win titles in conference, but I don't think it's anywhere
03:55near the amount of craziness and pressure that those people give the coaches in Gainesville.
04:00Why would he leave for what, another million? What are they going to give him, 10, 5, 11
04:04for another cut? It's not like he makes five million bucks and you could double his salary.
04:07He's already making almost 10 at Ole Miss. I don't see it.
04:12I agree with you. And he's already got a great thing going in Oxford. And actually, I think
04:20that program is more popular now than Florida football is. The Florida Gator football program
04:28is in a swamp being eaten by alligators, their own alligators. Florida State's an absolute
04:35bloodletting in Tallahassee. I can't even believe that he's still the coach going into
04:41this week's games, to be honest with you. If they lose again and he survives another
04:46week, I'll keel over. And then, yeah, listen, the guy on there that I thought made the most
04:53sense was the first one, the guy at Washington Fish who went from Arizona up to Seattle.
05:00That job sucks compared to being a head coach at Florida. Let's face facts. If it's Lane
05:05Kiffin, I don't do it. If it's that guy, that would be like moving into the penthouse from
05:11the outhouse.
05:14No doubt about that. All right, let's go through two of these bigger ones and then
05:16we'll get into the racks. Rich mentioned them both. USC plays their first Big Ten game in
05:21Ann Arbor against Michigan coming up here tomorrow afternoon. I'll give you the numbers.
05:27But first, here's Lincoln Riley. Now, Michigan's already lost to Texas, haven't looked very
05:31impressive in their other games. But Lincoln Riley says that's still Michigan. We respect
05:36them. They're a big time team.
05:37I mean, because there's NFL players all over the place and a lot of guys that were part
05:43of winning a national championship last year. There's a lot of good players, a lot of good
05:48coaches at that place. Everybody, you know, we live it every year. It's not anything new.
05:53You understand it. But I mean, everybody wants to write the story after a couple of games
05:57in the season for everyone. And that's just it's a long season, man. That's a good football
06:02team that we have a lot of respect for. And to have anything less would be a mistake on
06:05our part.
06:06Yeah, that's cheesy. You're a cheeseball and he knows they are down right now and he needs
06:11to win that game because Michigan is not good.
06:17Four and a half for USC on the road. I think the total is kind of light to Scotty. Forty
06:22four and a half. I think USC is going to score some points in this game and maybe Michigan
06:27could contribute a little bit to get me there. But I like the minus four and a half even
06:31more.
06:32Yeah, I do, too. And I think that number is low because they think Michigan is going to
06:35punch USC in the mouth. I don't see it. So I'm going with USC, of course, the storyline
06:43here as well. Scotty, Tennessee's been scoring tons of points to get Niko and quarterbacks
06:48been excellent. But Josh Heupel returning to Norman, he won a championship for the Sooners
06:53as their quarterback. He was the offensive coordinator there with Bob Stoops. Here is
06:57Heupel on going back home.
06:59I'm good with any question about Oklahoma. You know, like the opportunity that I got,
07:08you know, from Bob and from Mike to come there and play what we were able to build there
07:13in a short amount of time as a player. But then my coaching career from, you know, the
07:18guys that I played for to all the coaches that were there during my career fired all
07:24made a huge impact on me. And I wouldn't be here today at Tennessee if I didn't have
07:31all those experiences. So tremendously grateful for all those people. And, you know, Brent
07:38is somebody that, you know, I learned and grew from as a young coach so much and a ton
07:45of respect for him.
07:47My man has definitely enjoyed some of that Southern cooking. He looks like he's not a
07:54playing weight anymore. He's not a playing weight from when he was at Oklahoma. I would
08:00be eating a lot of dessert if I had that volunteer offense that airs. Certainly do. This is Vols
08:08road favorites. Minus six and a half. Fifty six and a half is the total. I think me and
08:14you are on the same line here. I don't think Oklahoma is going to be able to score with
08:18Tennessee and I don't think they'll be able to stop them from scoring. Yeah. Like gambling
08:22Kenny used to say, give me the ball. Give me the balls thrown back there. The balls.
08:30We got it, baby. Let's go. All right. You're ready for the racks. Let's do it here. Racks
08:35and ribs for college football coming up for the weekend. All right. N.C. State visiting
08:41Clemson. Of course, this is still a very fat number that we're going to have. This is in the
08:45early window. Now down to 18 and a half. It was 20 a couple of days ago. Penn State almost a 50
08:51burger against Kent State. Good game. James Madison visiting Chapel Hill. Scotty, can the
08:57Duke cover the ten and a half in that game? I think that they can. Louisville against Georgia
09:02Tech and UCLA getting a very big number in Baton Rouge against LSU. Yeah, I think LSU is going to
09:10spank the Bruins in the hot heat of Baton Rouge at 330. Kick UCLA stinks. I like, frankly,
09:19Georgia Tech in the number. I don't think it's going to be easy, but I think the hook makes a
09:23difference for me. I've seen it at 10, 10 and a hook. I can live with it. I like the rambling
09:27wreck. I think North Carolina beats JMU. I know JMU is really good, but this is a different level.
09:33They're playing different athletes, better athletes, ACC team. Let's see him pull it off.
09:39They beat everyone that doesn't matter. Let's see him beat somebody that's bigger than them.
09:44Let's see it. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm rooting for JMU. I think Penn State wins
09:50easily, but I'm not going anywhere near 48 and a hook. You can have a sandwich.
09:55Look, when it was 20, I took NC State. I know I've been flip-flopping on this game,
10:01thinking Clemson and Death Valley is automatic, but I think NC State's a lot better than
10:07people give them credit for being in the ACC as a team. I like their coach. I like the running game
10:13they finally have. I like their defense. I think it's going to be a better game than everybody
10:17thinks. I am surprised, frankly, that Clemson's favored by that over anybody in conference.
10:24No doubt. Next, we'll probably have to finish this when we come back. I love this game,
10:28Scotty. Utah going to Oklahoma State. Four o'clock East kick. I love the pokes in Gundy
10:34here. Miami and USF, we've talked about this game all week. Very tricky for Miami. Cal making
10:39their first ACC trip to Florida State. Who needs to win in the worst way? I love Rutgers getting
10:45the three and a half in Blacksburg on Saturday afternoon, and Baylor visits Colorado with the
10:51buffs minus one and a half. Yeah, I think Prime in Colorado wins that game. I think the Hokies win
10:58at Lane Stadium. I want to take Cal over Florida State because they've been so awful. I think South
11:07Florida covers the number at Raymond James against Miami. I think it's a great game. Miami gets it
11:12done late, just like Alabama did against South Florida, but South Florida will be in that game,
11:19folks, and I'm with Carver High on the pokes. Give me Oklahoma State at Boone Pickens in Stillwater
11:25where everybody's a cowboy, and so are the girls. I mean, look, we got a lot of games this weekend.
11:31Big college football weekend. Lots of conference games starting. All right, Marshall visits the
11:36Shoe. Of course, we got some big spreads here in this rack also. Marshall, a heavy number they're
11:41getting in Columbus, 39 and a half. Notre Dame, almost four touchdowns at home against Miami of
11:46Ohio. They certainly couldn't cover it two weeks ago against Northern Illinois. Florida now six and
11:51a half on the road at Mississippi State. It was four and a half very early in the week. Indiana,
11:57four toodies, 28 and a half against Biff Bogey and Charlotte, and minus two and a half for West
12:03Virginia at home against Kansas. I like West Virginia at home. I like Indiana and the over.
12:09I like the over or the under in the Florida Mississippi State game because they both
12:15are hair dryer city. I like Notre Dame to win at South Bend and cover, and I like
12:21Ohio State to win and cover. I think Ohio State's going to put 69 on Marshall. Hey, now.
12:29Yeah, and then they can all ask the Marshall coach for the NIL deal for the biscuit place
12:34that he was talking about. They can all get. I want to eat there. I love biscuits. I mean,
12:38come on. Can we go there?
12:43Off of a cover at Michigan now goes to Iowa State where they'll see the Cyclones in Rocco
12:49Becht. We have Arizona State at Texas Tech. Good game in Lubbock, minus three and a half for the
12:55Red Raiders. Missouri laying 20 and a half at home against Vandy. Washington minus 11 and a half as
13:01Northwestern takes their first trip west in the new Big Ten. And Texas A&M, who is not going to
13:06announce who's playing quarterback, not that it'll matter against Bowling Green laying 22 and a half.
13:13I think some of these games are brutal. I'm going to take a stab with Arkansas State and three
13:17touchdowns. I got it at 21 in Ames. I do like Iowa State in the Big 12, though. I think they're a good
13:23football program. I'm stunned that the number in Lubbock is three and a half, so I'm going to take
13:29it with the Sun Devils. I like Missouri in Columbia. I hate that spread. Vandy's been tough,
13:37but I still say they get worked by the Tigers here. And they didn't cover against BC, so I'm
13:44very worried about it. To be honest, I'm not going to bet it. This is just saying what I would do if
13:48I had to. I think Northwestern will cover against Washington at Husky Stadium. I mean, they cleaned
13:57that place out like it was on fire after that season last year. I don't have any faith whatsoever
14:03in what they got going on in Seattle. And then I like A&M at Kyle Field to handle their business
14:09against Bowling Green. They saw what they did against Penn State. They watched that film and
14:15they said, that's not happening here. I don't think Elko lets it happen. I don't think he does
14:20either. And finally, always fun when Iowa and Minnesota get together, and they're total in the
14:26mid-30s, which we have once again for those two, 35 and a half. Texas will start Arch Manning.
14:31They're laying 44 and a half against UL Monroe. I'm laying the wood in that one, Scotty. Big win
14:37for Texas. Boston College laying it home against Michigan State. Tricky game for Kansas State in
14:43Provo on Saturday night. They are six and a half point road favorites, and Purdue has to make the
14:49trip all the way across country to Corvallis, splashing around with the Beavers who are minus
14:53three and a half. Purdue will screw that up nice and juicy in Corvallis. Give me the Beavs. I love
14:59BYU and Provo and the mountains. There's something about that place. And then I like BC at home and
15:06Chestnut Hill. Texas, I'm with you, is going to bury Monroe as if it was a funeral. And then I
15:13like Minnesota and Minneapolis to beat Iowa and McNamara, whatever his name is. I'll go with the
15:20Gophers and P.J. Fleck. I am not a fan of P.J. Fleck or the Minnesota Golden Gophers at all,
15:29whatsoever, in any capacity. In fact, I don't even think about them, and I don't even think
15:34they should be in the Big Ten. You can quote me on that. They suck. Their basketball and football
15:39programs suck. Combined, they're like a combo meal of suck. There you go with all of the college.
15:45Here's the most public bets for this week. Unlike the NFL, you have some big numbers. And I know people that went to
15:50school there, and I wish ill will on them, too, and their children. Anyone that went there, I hope
15:55their future is bleak, and I hope that the Black Cloud Diner follows them wherever they go.
16:02Not a good day to be near Minnesota, it sounds like. Not a good day if you're around that place.
16:07Ninety-one percent of the bets are on Ole Miss this week, playing 36 and a half against Georgia
16:13Southern, Ohio State, NC State, USC, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, LSU, all getting some heavy action
16:20this week. I know I fit like every game in, I think, that matters, Scotty. I know there's a ton of
16:25other games I didn't mention. I don't know if you have them on a reserve list, if there's some other
16:30games you like, whatever it is. I mean, honestly, let's not get fancy here. I think, you know,
16:37of all those, I don't have a problem with any of those games, except the K-State game. I think
16:43they're actually going down. I think Maryland's going to spank Villanova. That game's at College
16:50Park. I think Cincinnati's going to beat Houston in the Queen City. I like the Cajuns over Tulane,
16:59and they're getting one and a half at Cajun Field. I like Army at home over Rice at West Point.
17:07I like Kentucky over Ohio in Lexington, and I mean, I'm just giving you a few of them, right?
17:15How about Coastal? Can I get three with Coastal? How about three and a hook at home against Virginia
17:20with an upset? I mean, I'm just looking at some of them, Carver High. It's very important that
17:24we get these in. How about Eastern Washington Covers against Nevada in Reno? Let's go skiing
17:31in Tahoe at Squaw Valley. Northern Illinois at home over Buffalo. I wouldn't be surprised
17:37Buffalo covers the number, the 13 and a hook in that game. I like Auburn at Jordan-Hare over
17:42Arkansas. I like Pitt over Youngstown State. I'll be eating a steak a hundred yards from that game.
17:50Somebody please leave me a parking spot. Not that I need one. I'll be an Uber, but afterwards,
17:55in case I want to have relations with anyone as I leave the expensive steakhouse. There is
18:00potential for that.
