00:00All right, here's the situation as we head into the final week.
00:07In fact, we'll throw the AL wildcard standings up and I'll just tell you everything that
00:10happened and how we got there.
00:13Tigers beat the Orioles yesterday 4-3, so that along with the Yankees playing well in
00:17Oakland means the AL East is pretty much over, Scotty.
00:20Yankee magic number is one.
00:21They play the Orioles starting tomorrow for a three-game series.
00:24They're going to win the division.
00:25Orioles have the top wildcard.
00:27But as you look right beyond that, the Royals and the Tigers are now both 82-74.
00:34The Twins got blasted in Fenway all weekend.
00:37They've lost 22 of their last 33 games and they are now one game back of both the Royals
00:43and the Tigers.
00:44The Tigers just lost all seven games of a homestand this past week.
00:48So they're not playing well either.
00:51That is the spot as we head into the last week.
00:54Everybody's got six games left here, Scotty, over this next few days.
00:58Now remember the one thing.
01:00Detroit finishes with the White Sox Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, who of course have now
01:06lost 120 games.
01:09That's who Detroit finishes with this week.
01:11Well, I mean, honestly, if you don't sweep them, you don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
01:17And I don't really give a rat's ass about anybody else.
01:23I guess I could see the Twins and Seattle still having a remote chance.
01:30They're one and two games back.
01:32I think obviously you're going to talk about the National League.
01:35The Braves are two back.
01:37But the reality is I'm actually rooting for the Tigers to get in and the Royals.
01:42And I think the Orioles are getting in either way.
01:45But the Orioles have played like Shaq the last two months.
01:49I mean, the other day, Santander hit a home run first time they won a game in a month.
01:54I mean, they're just not playing well.
01:55So when you go to October, not playing well, you're not going to just turn around and start
02:02playing well.
02:03It doesn't work that way.
02:05In the regular season, it can.
02:06You could have hot streaks and cold streaks.
02:09Then you turn a corner and get, you know, winning again.
02:13But when you go into the postseason playing like crap, you lose and you're eliminated.
02:21You certainly do.
02:22Now, the Royals play Washington and Atlanta this week on the road.
02:27Minnesota is home for the Marlins starting tomorrow.
02:32And then they finished with the Orioles in Minnesota.
02:35Detroit is home the entire week, three with Tampa and then the three with the White Sox
02:41that we've been mentioning there.
02:43So, you know, each of these teams are not playing great teams.
02:46I mean, Minnesota is playing the Marlins.
02:48You know, the Royals are playing the Nationals.
02:50You know, there's chances for wins here.
02:53And that's where I think, Scott, you tell me if I'm wrong.
02:57Baltimore has been so bad, so bad.
03:01And they're four up on all those teams.
03:02But if they ever got swept by the Yankees and lost all three of those games, they could
03:08be on thin ice heading into the weekend.
03:09That's how bad they've been.
03:11If everyone takes care of business against the really bad teams, they could be on thin
03:15ice heading into this weekend.
03:17I mean, you know, you hit the nail on the head.
03:20There's nothing else I can add to that.
03:22You said it perfectly.
