00:31Un pique-nique !
00:56Except that one Easter time, when the cycle of seasons came to a screeching, grimy, sudden stop.
01:07Let us turn back the clock to when brother was the only cub on the block.
01:14When the bear's treehouse wasn't nearly so grand.
01:17And a very strange thing occurred in Bear Land.
01:21No one really knows the cause.
01:24A shift perhaps in the natural laws.
01:27Some unfortunate bit of cosmic bad luck.
01:30But somehow that winter, the seasons got stuck.
01:35What happened to spring?
01:37Where did it go?
01:38Had it all been called off on account of snow?
01:42And Easter, what about Easter?
01:45Would it skip a year?
01:47Could Easter somehow disappear?
02:18It's the fall of that winter when the seasons got stuck.
02:22Bear Country's still having very good weather luck.
02:27Take Papa his lunch, my dear.
02:29He's chopping wood at the edge of the forest.
02:31Yes, Mama.
02:33As any observer can plainly see, Bear Country is still a great place to be.
02:40A great place to spend your growing up time.
02:43There are puddles to jump.
02:47All shapes and sizes of trees to climb.
02:53Plants that catch flies.
02:56Grasses that whistle.
02:59The lesson you learn packing into a thistle.
03:03So much to do and see and know.
03:06A wonderful place in which to grow.
03:09But, and here's the rub.
03:12A little bit lonesome for an only cub.
03:15All brother had friends.
03:17The gang who hung round down by the bog.
03:20There was Bill Bunny and Finity Frog.
03:23His idea of excitement was sunning himself on old rotting log.
03:29Ribbit.
03:30Ribbit?
03:31And there wasn't very much on Fred Firefly's mind,
03:35but working the switch on his electric behind.
03:39As for Bill Bunny,
03:41there just was no stopping his rabbity habit of hippity hopping.
03:46Bill! Bill, come back!
03:49Brother kept busy trying to learn what life was about.
03:54There really was quite a lot to find out.
03:57I've many, many questions to ask.
04:01Questions? Questions?
04:03Hi, Papa. I brought you your lunch.
04:06On questions of why, what, when and where,
04:09ask the world's foremost expert, me, Papa Q. Bear.
04:13Well, well, my first question, Dad.
04:15Go ahead, ask it. Don't stammer, my lad.
04:18Well, well, my question, Dad.
04:20Go ahead, go ahead, ask it.
04:22Don't just stand there hemming and hawing.
04:24Well, Papa, why are you standing on the limb you are sawing?
04:30Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
04:35That, that was a very good question.
04:38Do you have any more?
04:40It's one of the things Papas are born.
04:45I have many questions.
04:48There's so much I need to know.
04:52Where do we come from?
04:54Where do we go?
04:56How does the sun shine?
04:58Why do rivers flow?
05:02Those questions are too easy.
05:04They're just not tough enough.
05:07I'm prepared to deal with much more challenging stuff.
05:12I know all the answers.
05:15The who, what, why and where.
05:17Just as sure as my name is...
05:22Papa Q. Bear.
05:28In the middle of a river
05:32How deep does it get?
05:36Do fishes get thirsty?
05:38Why is water wet?
05:40Where does your lap go when you stand up?
05:43How many liquid ounces in a buttercup?
05:49You may ask me any question
05:52Don't matter how far out
05:54Being open to all questions
05:57Is what parenting is all about
05:59I know the census of Samoa
06:03And its principal crop
06:05The height of Krakatoa
06:08Before it blew its top
06:10I have all the answers
06:13The who, what, why and where
06:15Just as sure as my name is...
06:18Oh, the barbecue...
06:20The barbecue...
06:22The barbecue...
06:24The barbecue...
06:28Barbecue...
06:32Barbecue...
Quelle suggestion!
08:16Qu'est-ce qu'il y a à l'hiver?
08:18Et l'hiver! Qu'est-ce qu'il y a à l'hiver?
08:20Qu'est-ce qu'il y a à l'hiver, papa?
08:22Qu'est-ce qu'il y a à l'hiver?
08:24Qu'est-ce qu'il y a à l'hiver?
08:26L'hiver, c'est...

08:30des odeurs délicieuses,
08:32des oeufs au cacao,
08:34des oeufs colorés en papier gris,

09:36Baby Robinson, the miracle of birth, a great rainbow after a warm spring rain.
09:48What's a miracle, Mama?
09:52Son, a miracle is something wonderful we cannot explain.
09:57And this Easter, said Mama, looking into brother's eyes, you'll have an extra special Easter surprise.
10:05And that moment, whoops, brother slipped off Mama's lap.
10:10Was Mama's lap getting smaller?
10:13Or was it just that brother was getting taller?
10:16Or even a little of both, perhaps, which is often the way with cubs and laps.
10:21What happened to Mama's lap?
10:24Come, it's time for Boss Bunny to wiggle his ears.
10:30It had been custom in bear country for years and years for Boss Bunny to signal spring by wiggling his ears.
10:39We can count on Boss Bunny. He wouldn't let anything happen to spring, and certainly not Easter. Easter's his thing.
10:48But when they reached the accustomed spot, a crowd had gathered, but Boss had not.
10:54Not a sign of Boss Bunny, not a wiggle nor wit,
10:58except a small one saying,
11:01Boss Bunny has quit.
11:04Boss Bunny has quit?
11:07What about Easter?
11:10Said brother, with tears in his eyes.
11:14What about my Easter surprise?
11:19The resignation of Boss Bunny was a very serious matter.
11:24The citizens of bear country were abuzz and a chatter.
11:29I hear he had a problem with fermented carrot juice.
11:33Outrageous.
11:34Disgraceful.
11:36Simply no excuse.
11:38Retired.
11:39Opted out.
11:40Hopped a freight.
11:42Headed.
11:45Papa was especially down in the mouth.
11:49Who will bring our jelly beans?
11:52Our reds and yellows, pinks and greens?
11:57My Easter surprise, what might it have been?
12:01A giant Easter egg in a decorated tin?
12:06A basket of yellow marshmallow chicks?
12:09A lifetime supply of lemon sticks?
12:13Mama just smiled and gave a small shrug.
12:18Papa reached down and gave brother a mama bear hug.
12:25There must be some way of changing our luck,
12:29of saving Easter and getting the seasons unstuck.
12:33And at that very moment of despair and desperation,
12:39Papa Bear was struck by a full-fledged inspiration.
12:44Say, talk about your Easter surprise.
12:47Just try this one on for size.
12:50I'll be the Easter bunny.
12:53You'll be the Easter bunny?
12:55I'll be the Easter bunny.
12:57I can do it, my dears.
13:00The first thing I'll need is slightly bigger ears.
13:06Then some nice long whiskers.
13:09These broom straws will do.
13:11Fasten them in place with bunny whisker glue.
13:17Now let's twitch my whiskers, train my ears to flock.
13:22And now a bit of practice on my bunny.
13:25Hop, hop, hop!
13:33If you want something done, then do it yourself.
13:37Just take your up and let them down off the shelf.
13:41Push your muzzle to the grindstone and do it yourself.
13:46If you want something done, hop-a-dop, hop-a-dop, hop-a-dop,
13:50you've got to do it yourself.
13:55Now the next thing we'll need is a ready egg supply
14:00and six or seven packets of Easter egg dye.
14:06Some practical arrangement of scrap lumber and planks
14:11to direct the egg supply into the mixing tanks.
14:16While yours truly stands ready to stir it with a mop.
14:21And now another bit of practice on my bunny.
14:24Hop, hop, hop!
14:27If you want something done, then do it yourself.
14:32Just take your up and let them down off the shelf.
14:37Push your muzzle to the grindstone and do it yourself.
14:42If you want something done, hop-a-dop, hop-a-dop, hop-a-dop,
14:47you've got to do it yourself.
14:51And now the shredded coconut, the chocolate and cream.
14:55Who cares if old Boss Bunny ran out of steam?
15:01Then an extra nail or two and one more rubber band.
15:06Now one last connection.
15:09Here, sir, give me a hand.
15:12Now all that's left to do, as you can plainly see,
15:16is hook the whole thing up to my good old model T.
15:25It's working! It's working!
15:38It's not working.
15:46It's not working.
16:16There's somebody very special I simply have to find.
16:20Somebody very special? Who's that, Brother Bear?
16:23The boss of all the bunnies, the one and only Easter Hare.
16:28Then Bill said something that caused Brother's jaw to drop.
16:32No problem. Come with me. Boss Bunny is my pop.
16:37What a piece of luck!
16:39He's the one who can save Easter and help the seasons get unstuck.
16:45Then Bill led Brother through a secret trap door
16:49that no bear had ever entered before
16:53that led to a secret underground room.
16:57It was dark and deserted and quiet as a tomb.
17:03There was nothing in the room except some mice,
17:07a bushy-tailed example of genus Catus Catus
17:12and Boss Bunny's vast collection of Easter apparatus.
17:18There were buckets, belts and vats
17:21in a great assembly line of fantastic machines of remarkable design.
17:27Great jelly bean machines capable of making a million jelly beans.
17:33Devices that could write any child's name.
17:36What a waste! said Brother.
17:39What a crying shame!
17:41For Boss Bunny's Easter factory was deserted, dark and still.
17:47The signs and sounds of Easter were absolutely nil.
17:53Just up ahead, there was a funny little door
17:56with a narrow crack of light showing at the floor.
17:59In the room behind the door, reclining on a shelf,
18:03was the erstwhile Easter Bunny, Boss Bunny himself.
18:09Hein?
18:39But please!
19:10The aggravation! Not to mention aches and pains!
19:15I've got arthritis, bursitis, mixer's elbow, sinusitis,
19:20I'm old and crabby, bent and stooped, I'm P-O-O-P-E-D, pooped!
19:27But please! We need Easter and spring!
19:31No Easter and spring? Why? That would ruin everything!
19:37Look, I'll say it again as I've said it before!
19:43Who cares about Easter?
19:46And spring is a bore!
19:49I'm fed up to here!
19:52And I'm not gonna take it anymore!
19:55Not gonna take it anymore!
19:58But Mr. Bunny, we need Easter and spring!
20:02We need a warm sun, melting snow and ice!
20:06All that Easter hocus-pocus, bap-dap-a-doos and crocus!
20:09Tulips, crocus!
20:12Starts my body achin' and my teeth a-hurtin'!
20:15Hello, I!
20:16So stop your beggin' and your blurtin'!
20:19My decision to resign is absolutely permanent, sir!
20:22Drawing new life from the cold winter earth!
20:25Baby Robbins, the miracle of birth!
20:30Who cares about Easter?
20:33And spring is a bore!
20:36I'm fed up to here!
20:38And I'm not gonna take it anymore!
20:41Not gonna take it anymore!
20:48Hold on now!
20:51Now just a minute, son!
20:54Somehow that rainbow got through to Boss Bunny!
20:58The great spring rainbow's lovely light
21:01touched his heart and put things right!
21:05It straightened his back!
21:07It loosened his joints!
21:09It reduced his aches and pains by 12 percentage points!
21:14His ears began to wiggle!
21:16His whiskers began to twitch!
21:19Then Boss Bunny reached around and pulled the master switch!
21:25All right, you bunnies!
21:28It's Easter time, so hop to it!
21:59On Easter morning, brother opened his eyes,
22:03stretched and remembered his Easter surprise!
22:09Oh, brother! Come in here, please!
22:12There is something you must see!
22:14Jelly beans! A chocolate egg and a bunny!
22:18It was all three!
22:20The Easter bunny brought those, my dear.
22:22Your special surprise is over here.
22:25Brother, meet your new baby sister!
22:29What was in the basket was a baby!
22:32A little baby bear!
22:34Brother was so surprised, all he did was stare!
22:38Then, as he reached to touch her tiny little toes,
22:43her small fist accidentally popped him on the nose!
22:47Say, for a tiny little baby,
22:51she has quite a punch!
22:53And as he rubbed his nose, he knew
22:56it was more than just a hunch,
22:59that something wonderful had happened,
23:02that he wouldn't be lonesome anymore,
23:05that his extra-special Easter surprise
23:08was well worth waiting for!
23:11Pa, I have one more question!
23:15You may ask me, I'll answer you!
23:18One more question!
23:20You may ask me any question!
23:22said Papa Bear to Brother.
23:24The baby! Where did the baby come from?
23:28That one's for your mother!
23:32Remember about the robins and the miracle of birth?
23:35Mama, you got your lap back!
23:38interrupted Brother.
23:40And Mother had!
23:43Please care about Easter,
23:47look forward to spring,
23:50and open your heart to the joy that they bring,
23:55the joy that they bring!
23:59Please care about rainbows,
24:02new lights and the wind,
24:05so open your heart to Easter,
24:10Easter!
