00:00The American people face a choice between two fundamentally very different paths for our economy.
00:10I intend to chart a new way forward and grow America's middle class.
00:18Donald Trump intends to take America backward to the failed policies of the past.
00:26He has no intention to grow our middle class.
00:30He's only interested in making life better for himself and people like himself.
00:38As president, I will be grounded in my fundamental values of fairness, dignity, and opportunity.
00:48And I promise you I will be pragmatic in my approach.
00:54And part of being pragmatic means taking good ideas from wherever they come.
01:00Look, I'm a capitalist. I believe in free and fair markets.
01:09I believe in consistent and transparent rules of the road to create a stable business environment.
01:18And I know the power of American innovation.
01:22I've been working with entrepreneurs and business owners my whole career.
01:26And I believe companies need to play by the rules, respect the rights of workers and unions, and abide by fair competition.
01:40And if they don't, I will hold them accountable.
01:43And if anyone has a question about that, just look at my record as attorney general.
01:48I believe an active partnership between government and the private sector is one of the most effective ways to fully unlock economic opportunity.
02:01The third pillar of our opportunity economy is leading the world in the industries of the future
02:11and making sure America, not China, wins the competition for the 21st century.
02:19But the simple truth is in America it takes too long and it costs too much to build.
02:25Whether it's a new housing development, a new factory, or a new bridge, projects take too long to go from concept to reality.
02:35It happens in blue states. It happens in red states.
02:39And it's a national problem.
02:41And I will tell you this, China is not moving slowly. They're not.
02:48And we can't afford to either.
02:51If we are to compete, we can't afford to either.
02:56As president, if things are not moving quickly, I will demand to know why and I will act.
03:04I will work with Congress, workers and businesses, cities and states, community groups and local leaders to reform permitting,
03:13to cut red tape and get things moving faster.
03:19Because, look, as I said, patience may be a virtue, but not when it comes to job creation.
