In a bid to attract Gen-Z into teaching careers, some schools have introduced quality of life measures like nine day fortnights (working 9 days in every 14, rather than 10), and two free periods a week to give them a lie-in. Would you be in support of these perks or are teachers given enough time off already? Are teachers more overworked and underpaid than other jobs? What would you suggest to get more teachers into the profession?

00:00A bid to attract Generation Z into teaching careers. Some schools have introduced quality
00:06of measures like nine-day fortnights to give them a little bit more support. Would you
00:12be in support of these perks for teachers? Or do you think they're given enough?
00:17Well, yeah. I think, well, no, I don't think teachers are given enough. I'm not a teacher
00:21myself. I never have done teaching. Not in a paid teaching job. I've done teaching voluntarily,
00:25but not paid. And I don't think teachers are actually given enough credit. They're
00:30not given enough support. It's a very difficult job. It's a very demanding job. It's a very
00:35important job. And this is something else the government should be addressing.
00:39What would you suggest to perhaps get more teachers into the profession?
00:42Well, they should be given more perks, as you just mentioned. They should actually,
00:50they should give them more benefits to say, look, if you come into the teaching profession,
00:54we'll give you this bonus, we'll give you that. I think teachers deserve all the help they can get.
