00:00Well, this is the last day of our week of rugby, from athletics rugby, which is seconds
00:16rugby for seniors, all the way through to the day, from under 12s up to 16s.
00:22What's it about?
00:23Great community, every community club in the Dragons region enters the cup and play competition
00:29in the region and we all ought to strive to get into this great stadium we're in today.
00:34Just look at them out there now, look at the crowd, I think we're in a good 2,000 people
00:39a day.
00:40I would say about 25 staff a day, start 8 o'clock in the morning, don't finish till 6, even
00:46half 6 at night, after they're tidying up, so they're invaluable.
00:50Just seeing the kids, their faces, good kids, see the coaches over there enjoying themselves
00:55as well, they've all been impeccably behaved, which is great, and the crowd, it goes a
01:00long way.
01:13An absolutely tremendous event, and as you can see behind me, there's been a lot of games
01:17with eighth grade rugby, a fantastic experience for the players and a fantastic experience
01:23for the supporters as well.
01:24All in all, this week has just been a great week.
01:26For me, Rodney Parade, home of the Dragons, it's the best stadium in Gwent, and for these
01:32children and youth players as well to be experiencing this is a huge thing, something they'll never
01:38ever forget.
01:39Winners, losers, the end result is rugby's the winner, and it's been really good for
01:44the district, really good for the region.
01:53It gives, obviously, children from under 12s all the way through to senior rugby the
01:57opportunity to have that competitive element of rugby, so it helps give an opportunity
02:03for those young children to experience coming here to the packed stadium at Rodney Parade,
02:09which is fantastic to see.
02:11They'll cherish this forever, it'll live long in their memory.
02:14Obviously, a massive thank you to everybody who was involved with the Dragons Cup, all
02:17our volunteers.
02:18It takes a lot of work for this to go ahead behind closed doors, so obviously a massive
02:23thank you to the parents, club coaches, everybody involved in our club game, which makes everything
02:29run so smoothly.
