00:00Hey kids! How are you doing today? Great! I am the number one. And today, I get to learn
00:12about something really cool. I have been learning about addition, and today we are going to
00:16use circles to help me learn about numbers and addition. Let's go over to my board so
00:21we can see it better. Whoa, does anyone know where the brakes are on this thing? Ow!
00:31Ok kids, here is the number 5. You may not know this, but there are numbers hiding inside
00:36this number. Let me show you what I mean. Here are 5 circles that are not filled in.
00:44We can clearly see that there are 5 circles, but what numbers are hiding? Well, let's see.
00:55Right now we can see that one of these circles is filled in and we have a line that is separating
00:59the colored circle from the blank circles. If we were to add the one circle on the left
01:05of the line to the circles on the right of the line, what would we get? The answer is
01:135. The one colored circle added to the four blank circles gives us 5 circles. So the two
01:19numbers hiding in the number 5 was 1 and 4. Awesome job guys, there really are numbers
01:26hiding in there. Wait a minute, we have more circles again with another line separating
01:33the circles. Maybe there are more numbers hiding in the number 5. Two of the circles
01:38on the left are colored in, so let's put down a 2. Now how many circles are on the right
01:46side of the line? 3, you are correct. This is another combination of numbers that make
01:54up the number 5. We have 2 plus 3 which gives us 5. This is way cool stuff.
02:04Let's look at two more before we finish. Maybe you can help me with these. Here is another
02:10set of 5 circles with a line dividing them. Can you tell me the two numbers that are hiding?
02:185 equals 3 plus 2. Amazing job. The numbers 3 and 2 added together give us 5.
02:30Here is one more. We have the circles and the line that separates them. So what does
02:355 equal in this problem? 5 equals 4 plus 1. You guys are so smart, you are amazing. Look
02:47at all we learned today. If you have any questions, feel free to watch the video again. Thanks
02:55for helping me and we will see you next time. Goodbye.
