00:00Siren has been working in this movie together?
00:02Probably one of the most amazing things.
00:05Like, I'm literally so grateful.
00:08Getting to work with my sister has been a dream come true.
00:11It has been so much fun getting to work with Maddie
00:13and learn from her tips and advice.
00:16It's been an amazing experience.
00:19What is with you guys and horror films?
00:21I love horror films, but I get scared so easily,
00:24so I have to watch them with my friends.
00:26Like, I can't watch them by myself,
00:27otherwise I will literally not go to sleep.
00:29I literally love horror films.
00:31My favorite genre, one of my favorite genres.
00:34And I, again, I'll never watch it alone, ever.
00:37Never, ever.
00:38What do you like the most about your characters in the film?
00:42I like how feisty my character is.
00:44Because, I don't know, it brings out a part of me.
00:47Like, when I play soccer, I can be a little aggressive.
00:50So it's nice that I get to kind of show that side on camera as well.
00:54I love how sweet Ellen is.
00:55She is such a sweet person and she's so nice to her sister.
00:58The opposite of you.
01:00I'm joking.
01:01I love how sweet Ellen is.
01:03She's so playful.
01:04I love her so much.
01:05What's next for you?
01:07I'm actually about to go off and film the sequel to my movie, Black Phone.
01:11We're going to be filming the Black Phone 2.
01:13So I'm very excited about that.
01:15I actually just finished wrapping Megan 2.
01:19So that was really exciting.
01:20And I can't wait to see this one.
01:22It comes out next year.
01:23I'm so excited.
01:24I'm really so excited.
01:25I worked with Violet McGraw before.
01:27She played my daughter in Haunting of Hill House.
01:30And they have a great family.
01:33And she and her sister Madeline produced this film.
01:37And they contacted me and I said, oh, I'd love to be a part of it.
01:41So, for me, it was kind of like almost a family venture.
01:46Tell me about Frank, your character.
01:50Well, he's not a very smart man.
01:57But he's trying his best.
01:59He's a police officer.
02:01He's down on his luck.
02:03His wife doesn't really think he's the best kind of guy anymore.
02:09So he's really trying to win her back.
02:12And trying to get back in his house.
02:14What attracted you to this project and to the role of Laura?
02:19I mean, the script is tender as it is scary.
02:22And I really love that about it.
02:24JP is a beautiful director.
02:26And he was a treat to work with.
02:27I was so excited to work with him.
02:29What is it about horror films that everyone loves them?
02:33Everyone loves them because I think we secretly love to be terrified.
02:38And what have you learned working on a project like this?
02:41What have I learned?
02:42I learned that I can become best friends with a 13 and a 15 year old.
02:49Violet and Maddie and I hit it off like gangbusters.
02:51First time that everyone is going to get to see it.
02:53I got to watch it being the producer.
02:55I got to watch it last week for the first time.
02:57And it blew us away really because we were shooting this in June.
03:00We just finished in June.
03:02So we finished it in two months with all the post and editing.
03:04And I'm really proud of my team.
03:06Juan Pablo, our director.
03:08And Brett and Alex and Christine and everybody for pulling this off.
03:10And Daniel for pulling it off in two months.
03:12So it's going to go to theaters on the 27th.
03:14And then transactional on the 1st.
03:16And then to Tubi on the 18th.
03:19I hope the world likes it.
03:20It's our first horror movie.
03:21We've never done a horror movie before.
03:23It's funny because the biggest challenge ended up being
03:25finishing it quick enough.
03:27Because when our partners here at Warner Brothers
03:29wanted the movie to go to Tubi for Halloween
03:31we had two months to finish it.
03:33So that was a tremendous challenge.
03:35If you know what a horror film is like
03:37with all the VFX we had to do
03:39and all the post production which usually takes six to eight months
03:41doing it kind of quick.
03:42We did it all in about two months.
03:44So that was the biggest challenge.
03:45But the actual show was great.
03:47The cast, the crew, our actors
03:49from the McGraw sisters
03:51Violet and Madeline
03:53it's their first time in a movie together.
03:55And we were lucky enough we got to hire Violet
03:57for her first speaking role ever
03:59in 2017 when she was only five years old.
04:01And then I put her in another movie
04:03as a supporting role for Netflix
04:05and we gave her her first leading role
04:07number one on the call sheet
04:09on an HBO Max movie in 2022
04:11called A Christmas Mystery.
04:13And the reason is I went to high school with her mom
04:16and when we were like you know what
04:18we're going to do a horror movie
04:20I said why don't we do a movie with Violet and Maddie
04:22the two sisters.
04:24They've never been in a movie together.
04:26Now Violet comes from Megan
04:28she just finished a sequel last week in New Zealand
04:30and her older sister Maddie comes from
04:32The Black Phone.
04:34So you got these two young upcoming superstars
04:36in the horror genre that have never been together
04:38I went to school with their mom
04:40we've hired them three times
04:42so it was really fun to see them work together
04:44it was amazing to work with them.
04:46And what's next for you?
04:48I'm going to go to sleep for three weeks
04:50I'm going to become Ally the Bear
04:52and I'm going to sleep for like three weeks
04:54and then that's it. Then wake up and we're going to do another one
04:56we got our next production
04:58set to shoot in November.
05:00As far as playing George
05:02George Peterson
05:04he just struck me as
05:06super interesting, intriguing
05:08and for some reason
05:10it's super well written
05:13when you have good writing the characters jump off the page
05:15and you go, I know that guy
05:17so for him when I read him I went
05:19I know this guy
05:21so I just really related to him and happy to be a part of the project.
05:23I love David's character
05:25I can't say too much because I don't want to give it away
05:27but he plays
05:29a great character
05:31and me and Judith have a pretty interesting relationship
05:33and let's just say the tables turn
05:35and it was super fun to play
05:37everyone was so amazing on this film
05:39and literally
05:42everyone was just like family
05:44we'd have dinners together and mail all the time
05:46it was a great time.
05:48My favorite genre to watch is horror
05:50not slasher but horror
05:52and so when I read it
05:54I thought this would be great fun
05:56plus it had something to do with the truth
05:58at some level this had happened
06:00and I just thought okay
06:02here's an opportunity to do something
06:04I would love to be a part of
06:06Tell me about Beatrice
06:08your character
06:10she's good
06:12little cranky
06:14but she's got reason to be cranky
06:16she knows what the dark spirits can do
06:18in her world
06:20in this world
06:22and so
06:24she just wants to do good
06:26and she's in between two worlds
06:28knowing both
06:40the emotional aspect
06:42how to tell
06:44a very emotional and intimate story
06:46of these three women
06:48in a horror context
06:50and having all the scares
06:52and all the elements
06:54that scare the audience
06:56but also having all the heart
06:58and all the emotionality in the film
07:00Was it hard to get this wonderful cast together?
07:02It wasn't that hard
07:04because I think
07:06the material itself
07:09was written with a lot of love
07:11by John Ducey
07:13and I think the cast responded to that script
07:15responded to the possibility
07:17of working
07:19emotionally
07:21in the context of a horror film
07:23so I think
07:25that was the main component
07:27of how this cast came together
07:29around this great story
