00:00Meanwhile, the PhilHealth Benefits Committee approved the removal of the Single Confinement Policy.

00:10PhilHealth's member Errol has been in the country for a decade.

00:13He has also experienced two times the same kind of disease.

00:18One of them was not answered by the country's health insurance.

00:22Any disease should be covered, even if it's repeated, it should be like that so that all diseases are covered.

00:30Errol experienced the Single Confinement Policy of PhilHealth

00:35where it is stated that PhilHealth did not answer if their member is hospitalized for two times the same disease within 70 days.

00:47For example, you are now confined by typhoid fever.

00:52After two weeks, you are confined for the same illness, typhoid fever.

00:58You will not be allowed to be confined for the second time for typhoid fever.

01:03Because PhilHealth's monthly premium contribution to PhilHealth is continuous,

01:10it is hoped that this policy will be changed.

01:13It is hoped that the Single Confinement Policy will be removed.

01:16Also, typhoid fever is a big issue now.

01:20It seems that Errol's wish will now be fulfilled

01:23because PhilHealth has confirmed that the Single Confinement Policy will be removed.

01:29It has already been approved by the Benefits Committee of the board of the agency.

01:35And in Vienna, it will be submitted to the PhilHealth Committee on Bank.

01:40So if someone is confined of the same illness within 90 days, we will allow them both.

01:48And this is not only for some diseases, but for all diseases covered by PhilHealth.

01:54According to the study of the Department of Health,

01:57more than 26,000 claims were not approved by PhilHealth because of the Single Confinement Policy.

02:07According to the DOH, it is time to amend PhilHealth's policy

02:14to ease the expenses of Filipinos for their health,

02:18according to the Universal Health Care Act 2019.

02:22Meanwhile, PhilHealth will also provide prescription eyeglasses,

02:27crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs

02:30that senior citizens and persons with disabilities need.

02:35This is in line with the call of their members and the Congress' orders.

02:41In response to the requests and of course the instructions of the Congress,

02:49we are studying if we can cover the so-called prescription glasses,

02:58assistive devices like wheelchairs, crutches, canes, or walkers.

03:05And this is currently under our study, including the financial impact analysis.

03:12And hopefully, we can release this before the end of the year

03:18and become effective at the beginning of 2025.

03:22According to the leadership of PhilHealth,

03:24PhilHealth will continue to make steps to improve their policy

03:29to benefit every Filipino.

03:32According to the DOH, every life is important in the new Philippines.
