00:00Hello everybody, it's lovely to see your nice creepy background.
00:05It is quite creepy isn't it?
00:07Not as creepy as the film though.
00:08So well done, you've done your job, you've creeped me out.
00:12That's good.
00:13The film is absolutely terrifying.
00:16Hallie, I want to start with you.
00:18Your career is just incredible.
00:21What you've achieved in cinema is amazing.
00:24You've got such an amazing back catalogue.
00:26Why on earth did you want to put yourself through this?
00:30Why not?
00:32You know what I mean?
00:33When you've been doing this as long as I have,
00:35it's really important to keep challenging yourself,
00:39risking new frontiers, trying a different take on an old story.
00:44I've played mothers in my career, fiercely protective mothers,
00:49but this was also a protective mother,
00:51but a bit darker version of what a fiercely protected mother is.
00:56And I really wanted to embrace this challenge.
00:58And I loved the world.
00:59I loved the chance to work with two amazing young performers.
01:03You know, there were a lot of new things that this movie presented me,
01:09and so that's why.
01:10Honestly, even just within the first five minutes,
01:12I think one of the most terrifying things
01:13was just watching you encapsulate in fear.
01:17I was like, how does she do that?
01:18It's insane.
01:20Magic of movies.
01:21But then I did hear on set that there were bears in the woods,
01:25so maybe that's why you were all so scared.
01:27Well, yeah, there were bears.
01:29Like, there were real bears.
01:30We had bear stations in the woods
01:33where we had bear spray and bear horns
01:35in case we saw one while we were shooting,
01:37or sometimes we would take walks in the woods.
01:40And, you know, and if we ever saw one,
01:42we had like our bear spray and horns nearby.
01:45But yeah, they would roll up on our, yeah, on our set.
01:49Honestly, that terrifies me even more.
01:51Wise, tell me, what was it like getting to work with Hallie
01:54and having her as your mom in this?
01:56It was amazing.
01:58I was so happy to have her by my side.
02:01One of the greatest actresses of all time,
02:03and it was such an honor to work with her.
02:05I'm so thankful.
02:07I'm glad that they chose me to be a part of this,
02:10and I'm happy and I'm excited for all the things that come.
02:13I'm also so glad to have Miss Hallie as our mom
02:16because not only was she just a mom like on set,
02:20but she was also like a great second mom off set too.
02:23So working with her helped me become a better actor.
02:28I could try, you sweet, sweet angels.
02:30But you know what?
02:31The truth is I became better because of them.
02:33Children have this, like young adult,
02:35like young performers like this,
02:37they have this uncanny ability to be so real in the moment.
02:41And I think that's what, you know, adult actors struggle
02:44to continue to stay connected to,
02:46the innocence of youth, the freedom of youth.
02:49And so having a chance to work with them
02:51also enriched my performance too,
02:53because they're just so raw and pure.
02:56And that is an amazing energy to work against for me too.
03:01Absolutely, and apart from the bears,
03:04which honestly is sending me,
03:06I can't believe that was a real problem.
03:08What was it like for you all filming in the woods?
03:11Because the woods become a character
03:12within themselves, right?
03:14Yeah, we love the woods.
03:15Sometimes the woods was like a magical place
03:17and sometimes it was a horrific place.
03:19It depended on what was happening in the woods,
03:21the time of day.
03:22But for me, the woods had a personality
03:25that changed per the scene.
03:27I don't know how you guys felt.
03:30For me really, I didn't really like look around in the woods.
03:33All I was looking for were frogs.
03:36I just wanted to keep, just grab them and hold them,
03:38bring them to my dad and my mom.
03:40There's frogs everywhere though, right?
03:42Yeah, they were so cute too.
03:44Cause some of them tried running, but I still got them.
03:46But frogs are so cute.
03:48I just became obsessed with frogs and holding them.
03:51Yeah, I love the, just like per scene,
03:55I love the peacefulness of the woods.
03:58It was very awesome to see how it changed per scene.
04:02Like whenever, like if we had a scary scene going on
04:05and we would look at the woods and I'd be like,
04:08oh, what's out there?
04:08And it becomes creepy.
04:10But then we have like a good scene
04:12and where it's like a happy scene
04:14and the woods are very beautiful
04:16and very relaxing and very calming.
04:18So yeah, yeah, it does change due to the scene.
04:21We were really in a house in the middle of nowhere,
04:24you know, and the house was so beautifully set designed
04:27and it felt so real and authentic.
04:29And, you know, we had sometimes in the middle of our scenes,
04:31like a rat would just run right by.
04:34One time it sent me screaming out of the house
04:36because I am not a rat person.
04:39So it sent me screaming.
04:40So we were dealing with the elements
04:41cause we were literally in the middle of the woods.
04:44And I think that helped us as performers
04:46to put ourselves in the mindset.
04:48Honestly, bears, frogs, rats, you dealt with it all.
04:52But you did a really good job
04:53cause you kept me up all night.
04:55I can't stop thinking about it.
04:56So well done and thank you guys so much.
