00:00Watch me flip this piece of furniture and secretly hate it and want to redo it.
00:03Well, I guess that's not a secret anymore.
00:04Anyway, this pine dresser had a ton of damage, broken drawers, scratches, stains, you name it.
00:09So I did what I do, and I flipped it, but let me tell you, I'm not loving this one.
00:12So I need your help figuring out what it's missing.
00:14But be nice, because I can be a sensitive butterfly.
00:16I started by removing the hardware and these decorative pieces, they just popped off.
00:19Or I have incredible finger strength, who knows?
00:20The mirror had to go, sorry.
00:21I'm not usually a wasteful person, but I tripped over this mirror one too many times.
00:24So unfortunately, my emotions got the best of me, I threw it away.
00:26It had to be done.
00:27After I gave it a good clean, we started ripping down the top.
00:29But then I quickly realized that the center portion was veneer.
00:31I was fooled by the edge pieces, which are solid wood.
00:33Since pine's a softer wood and this had a ton of scratches, I went in with a higher grit, but I left out the edging.
00:38On any veneer, the edging is where you're most likely going to sand through.
00:42So to make sure I didn't blow through it, I hand-sanded the susceptible areas.
00:45Sanding got most of the scratches out, but again, it's pine.
00:47So any scratches that didn't come out got wood-filled.
00:49I primed with Bullseye 123, but had to go back in with wood filler.
00:52Anytime you use a water-based primer over a water-based wood filler, it's gonna disintegrate it a bit.
00:56So my second round of filler, I sealed in with Kills Primer.
00:59And here's where the regret begins.
01:00Not the paint color. The color is gorgeous.
01:02But I'm gonna say it. I might regret painting this one.
01:04I did a white wash over the top using Carrington Beige by Benjamin Moore.
01:08I used about three parts water to one part paint.
01:10I brushed it on in sections, and then used a shop towel to wipe off any excess.
01:13I ended up sealing the top with a wax, so it didn't change the color of the wood, and it's less likely to yellow over time.
01:17Whoever originally screwed in this foot botched it.
01:19This is why pilot holes are important.
01:20If you don't pre-drill your holes, it'll split.
01:22So my dad helped reshape this with Bondo, and she's back to looking like a whole foot.
01:25If you're new to flipping, I highly recommend picking a piece that does not have broken drawers.
01:28Sometimes it's as easy as just replacing generic parts.
01:30And sometimes, you can't find the replacement pieces.
01:32Like this bent metal track.
01:33I had to beat the shit out of it to try to get it straight.
01:35But after hours of frustration, I did my best to fix them all.
01:37And here's how it turned out.
01:38I went with a rectangular pole to match the vibe of the boxy dresser.
01:41But I'm just not sure about it.
01:42I don't know if it's the feet or the hardware, but something's off.
01:44So tell me in the comments what I should change.
01:46I'm giving it a 7 out of 10.
