02:56on the glove of akhmetov that's going to be a key for akhmetov because de bombay brian as we've seen

03:07he explodes it's dangerous no question about it it's a taekwondo background that we talked about
03:11that he really feels built that explosiveness in him he's got very sneaky power shots on the inside
03:18particularly with that right upper foot he looks to land damage isn't much of a jab or jab or
03:24comparatively to akhmetov let's see whether he can get inside against the kazakh fighter tonight
03:28raul we've seen guys reach high levels in this division with that kind of style that kind of
03:34ambush style hanging out on the outside i'm thinking of a guy like jean pascal a little bit
03:40you know but it takes a lot of athleticism it takes a lot of raw power to make it work
03:44like that and you got to be in great shape to be able to use your legs and your speed for 12
03:49rounds and keep turning the guy that's gonna apply pressure like the bombay so so far akhmetov is
03:54doing what he's supposed to do he's giving angles he's using his speed but look right there he's
04:01got to get out of the way of the bombay that you can't stand in front of him for too long
04:04he's got to give him that subtle movement to the right or to the left and just keep grinding with
04:09his speed putting the bombay on the back foot here in the early going
04:24bombay's giving akhmetov too much room sooner or later i mean it's the first round but he's
04:29got to close that gap he's got to move on his waist a little bit more don't come in just head
04:35forward here's some feints he's got a jab in a single punch with a guy like akhmetov
04:43bombay told us that he feels that if he get this fight into the later rounds that's when akhmetov
04:50will start to fade and indeed in akhmetov's only loss against carlos gongora that came very late
04:56in a fight that he was winning almost every round in the bomb i didn't pull any punches when we
05:00talked to him in the fighter meetings he thinks he's tougher than akhmetov and he thinks ultimately
05:04that's going to make the difference bombay also has to invest in some good body shots he's got to
05:10wear him down he's not going to wear him down from fighting for the outside he's got to work

06:30what did you think of that banks kind of telling akhmetov hey you don't need to go all the way with
06:35the right hand just touch it i thought that was great advice because debombay fights in spurts
06:40and he'll quickly counter you and if you shorten your punches up you eliminate that element for him
06:48as we alluded to earlier a key for akhmetov raul just kind of keeping the hands of debombay
06:54occupied if he's going to shell up just touch him somewhere yeah touch him somewhere touch him
06:59jab to the body give him some faints he's got to open up that guard you know a nice solid jab
07:05by akhmetov opens up that guard of debombay he's pretty tight with his defense kind of like
07:10you know winky ride out to abraham top of style the way he covers up real tight
07:15but you got to punch also around the gloves to open up that guard or even hit the gloves to knock
07:20him down and create openings there's that explosiveness that we talked about and that
07:30happened because akhmetov took a step back with his chin up in the air he shouldn't have done that
07:35should i either took a step back one step back with his chin down and then circled around him
07:40but he was he went all the way back with his chin up in the air that's why he got caught

09:10that's a good jab by the bomb baby he's got to use a little bit more push it back jab to the
09:14chest how about the chest the body and try to push akhmetov back make them fight don't let him
09:20he's allowed him to think too much on the outside you heard his trainer told him i want you to box

10:50has probably landed the ones that you remember the most but again there just haven't been that many
10:55certainly taking some time as this chess match is playing out you did hear from akhmadov's corner
10:59they want him to box more from distance make debombay come to him that's certainly what they
11:05believe is going to open up those opportunities to get some sustained action in some big counter
11:09shots yeah they want him to bait debombay in give him some feints give him some lateral movement
11:15move to the right move to the left don't stand too much in front of him baiting him bait him
11:21let him come in then catch him with some powders when debombay comes in
11:28debombay a double tough customer back in 2022 he scored a win over sladan janjani and he did so
11:36with a torn bicep he didn't throw a single punch with the other arm in that fight that's the kind

11:47debombay's corner wants him to do what he just did to be more tenacious

12:55see debombay a little bit quicker on the trigger when these two got to the inside

13:05and debombay needs that explosiveness on his feet with his punches more like you know like
13:11kind of like a mike tyson type of style a lot of feints a lot of side-to-side movement to get inside

13:28look nice for debombay for a moment but that'll do it for round three
13:35don't let this dude get a knockdown on you he's hitting you too clean stretch your legs out

15:05that's what debombay's corner said they believe there's an opening there for him to get knockdowns
15:09to stop akhmetov and one thing in debombay's favor he had a two-month training camp for this fight
15:14which was a lot different when he fought beck the bully off of three weeks notice
15:18last time around left hook and a right hand right behind it there from debombay
15:26i love that explosive about debombay but i want to see more i want to see him really
15:31cut that distance and shorten up that distance i want to see him go
15:35in the inside go through the body go short uppercuts up the middle
15:43here jonathan banks telling akhmetov use the whole ring
15:48don't just box that long range well that and he stands in front of debombay too much he gives him
15:54too much time like he doesn't give me any angles and he's an expert akhmetov he's really good at
16:00using angles he's fast with his combinations he's got a good jab but at times he stands a little
16:07bit too much in front of debombay and sometimes debombay is able to catch him with his explosive
16:11like he did right now chopping right hand there from debombay akhmetov looks a little too casual
16:17a little too lax a days ago at times especially when you leave those openings for debombay to
16:21explode as he backs up it's kind of the opposite of what akhmetov looked last looked like last time
16:28out against incarnacion diaz and granted yeah he has not as good as debombay you know it's in all
16:34honesty however akhmetov noticed that he had an opponent he could get out of there and he went
16:38after him tonight we're i think you're right brian seeing a little bit of a casual attitude from
16:44akhmetov at long range that's been echoed in his corner from jonathan banks who said don't let this
16:49guy knock you down don't let him get an edge on the scorecards do what you have to do box and work
16:55behind that jab more than that he warned him that he will get knocked down if he keeps doing what
16:59he's doing left hook again there from debombay the right hand a whistle past the face of akhmetov
17:07reduced to reaction from the debombay corner as he lands another stiff jab every time debombay
17:13gets close shortens the distance he connects he's fast enough he's explosive enough to connect
17:19but keep it short i don't know why he bounces all the way back again
17:23i think he'll be more effective if he kept him short and pushed him back and landed those shots

18:57avenue all right skipper kelp what do you think what are you seeing right now well akhmetov's
19:02corner wants him to go back to the basics and just stick with the jab on the flip side debombay
19:06wants his corner wants him to step on the gas and i agree with that jonathan banks imploring
19:15akhmetov to make this one as simple as possible and if you're looking for a fight that will look
19:21like emmet brent and kevin cronin look like that's not gonna happen that's the opposite advice but
19:26again this is a sport and jonathan banks is noticing that
19:29the quieter this fight is the better it is for ali akhmetov
19:37it just comes down to styles debombay gets his offense off best when it is at close range when
19:42he can counter with explosive fashion if you use those long arms and build behind that jab
19:47you can keep him at bay
20:02interesting between rounds though that the bombay's corner feels like listening to them
20:06that they believe that they've got a flat akhmetov in front of their fighter that he can be hit
20:10and can be hurt provided oh nice right hand there from the bombay very that might be the
20:16best shot he's landed in this fight i think the best shot for any of them that was a very good
20:22overhand right that rattled akhmetov definitely caused his attention and a little bit of distance
20:29akhmetov you see when he throws that jab right he can't really land that right hand and he's not
20:34changing the direction of the right hand like i like to see him maybe over the top to the body
20:39how about a right uppercut while he baits him in well we've seen this time and time again nice left
20:45hook there from the bombay in quiet rounds where not a lot is landing clean it can just take brian
20:54just one or two shots to win a round when you're talking about the strategy of building rounds to
21:00win the fight as the bombay let's go a combination that's what his corner wants they talked about the
21:05tight judging tonight they probably watched that cronin fight just one fight to go against brennan
21:10it's up to the bombay to be active and win over the judges here against a still somewhat flat
21:15akhmetov heard jonathan o'brien telling the bombay we've been robbed before don't let it happen again
21:25and this is the exact type of fight where scorecards can be all over the place you have
21:30one fighter who's markedly busier but not landing clean one landing good shots every once in a while

21:50hopefully they're sitting and waiting sitting and waiting for what he's doing nothing

23:29seven to one betting underdog to potentially leave his mark and get ahmed off out of there
23:47very explicit instructions from jonathan banks there a second ago he said when you
23:51see him put his hands up just throw the one two trying to break that guard he's
23:55going to try to break that i'm going to go over the top around the his gloves
24:01i haven't seen akbar throw an uppercut with his right hand i bait him in with the jabbing and
24:11well that's what they're asking for in the debombay corner

25:32seeing debombay throw it's a lot more meaningful you see power when debombay connects you see power
25:38you see a move akmedov akmedov i don't know i feel like he doesn't have enough
25:42snap on his shots there's a little uppercut on the inside i know you're hoping for one of those
25:49maybe not the way you intended but still not many shots landing that was one from akmedov
25:55you're not gonna fight but you got a couple rounds to make up you gotta you gotta start moving

26:16but you're not using it enough you got to be satisfied with boxing and jabbing him
26:24stop going for the right hand because you're going too far and if he's counting you every time

26:59let's bring skipper kelp back in skip banks wants akmedov to educate his lead hand he says the jab
27:05but he means use the jab the hook the uppercut use that lead hand to keep him out of trouble
27:09and score points and he's also telling akmedov to basically forget about the right hand and sometimes
27:18that's what you have to tell a fighter to do in order to turn things around we saw the same thing
27:22last weekend with caleb plant and trevor mccomb you and bread man edwards told caleb plant stop
27:29throwing that leaping left hook that's when you're getting countered you're effectively hearing the
27:33same thing from jonathan banks every time you throw the right hand the bombay comes back in
27:37combination listen right now the bombay look at his jab his jab is finding the mark he just landed
27:45a nice three four punch combination after the jab he's landing shots the bomb is really landing
27:51those shots now look i hear the advice from banks in the corner it just sounds like he doesn't have
27:57confidence in his fighter to let his right hand go and deal with that explosive counter punch
28:03that's what happens every time you throw that right hand if you have to wonder whether the
28:08idea of akmedov's only pro defeat right stopped late sort of wore down ran out of gas maybe trying
28:15to avoid that a second time right well let me ask raul the trainer rather than raul the fighter here
28:21sometimes you're in a situation where you say okay these things just aren't working for my guy but we
28:27need to win how can we win ugly how can we make this work with what is working here tonight well
28:33it's gonna have to be more than the jab i don't think he's gonna win the fight just off the jab
28:37he's got to use the jab to set up that right hand he's got to get close to land the right hand down
28:43the middle he's a little bit too wide when he lands the right hand and the bomb is ready to
28:48counter every time he lands he throws that right hand the bomb is fast and explosive and catches
28:53with him so when he throws the right hand come back with the left hook and the right hand then
28:57jab again to finish the combination he's given the bomb is at distance to be able to land those shots
29:04that his team is looking for skipper what do you think about that a hundred percent was raul we
29:08can't win this fight on the jab alone but after he punches he's got to back up low he straightens
29:13up just like this and let's boom bomb bay get everything back blood around the nose of the bomb
29:21bay those recent stiff jabs from akmedov every once in a while akmedov is still breaking through

29:44feel like they need maybe all of these rounds they think that he has ground to make up i believe so

30:03he's gonna he's gonna end up hurting you you know why because every time you throw the right hand
30:07you pull back with your head high in the sky put your fucking chin down put your chin down

30:18double in bed yeah stop throwing it so long throw it shorter box him like you box in the late rounds
30:24listen you need every single round because you're losing a fight you don't need a knockout you need
30:31to you need to pick up the pace you need to pick up the pace that's what you need to do

30:49right there but you know akmedov landed a good jab there too but he's backing up with his straight up

31:05jermaine taylor but the expletives are coming out of jonathan banks now and i think that's a telling
31:10moment because i thought i heard in banks his voice throughout this fight a little fear a little
31:14hesitation now stepping right in and exclaiming his points stock met off he wants him to use that
31:21short right hand because the bomb is coming on he's found his opening he's figured akmedov
31:27left hand as the bombay steps in with the jab akmedov doesn't think it's a knockdown but it
31:33will count as one excuse me go forward go forward go forward go forward akmedov not reacting to the
31:41official right now obviously the language barrier playing a part there and looking over at his
31:47corner this could be a huge development on the scorecards here late in this fight
31:57the air was there the bomb bay there's explosive shots just out of nowhere
32:04i'm sorry lanza i think i've been i was backing up straight like they told him
32:07not to back up straight and he gets caught with that big left hook like the bomb bay
32:13over a plus 700 underdog coming into this fight
32:25i'm sure there are some betters out there licking their chops at the moment well we're going to find
32:30out what akmedov was made of made up over these final rounds to go from being told to just use
32:34the jab but now he needs to let those hands go and win these final rounds just got caught again
32:40by the bomb bay fast and explosive shots can't figure him out listen twice in this fight jonathan
32:47banks warned akmedov you're going to get knocked down clearly banks was seeing these patterns
32:52developing and the bomb bay comes back with a good looking left hook and that left hook is really
33:00finding the target the bomb bay's left hook the jab too he's fine very disciplined he's
33:06staying disciplined tight tight with his defense too akmedov just can't open hasn't been able to
33:12open up that defense how about a counter left hook i haven't seen akmedov throw instead of
33:18throwing that jab do a check left hook and then come back with the right hand either straight or
33:24up the middle he's not changing his combinations the guy that's changing the way he throws his
33:29combinations is the bomb bay certain awkwardness to the bomb bay style that's really giving akmedov
