Transcript
00:00He understood what we wanted to do.
00:05He thought about it for not that long, and he said, OK, I'll do it.
00:12And there were little adjustments with Andy and Christina discussing.
00:20Well, there were a lot of conversations, you know, because he was excited as much as I was about bringing Batman to life.
00:28But there was a lot of there was a lot to talk about.
00:31Where do we find where do we find Bruce Wayne?
00:34Thirty years after we saw him for the last time.
00:39I wanted to I wanted to to find Bruce in a place where people do not expect to find him a moment of his life.
00:50So I basically I guess it's a Batman I quit some years ago for a reason that you won't see in the movie.
00:57But you're going to see it in the deleted scenes and scene where they explain why Batman quit.
01:04You can't just tease that and you can't just dangle that out there.
01:08That's that's that's mean.
01:11Let's say he did something that he's not he's not proud of.
01:15He made a mistake.
01:17And the very reason that he knows so much.
01:21I mean, when you were watching the movie, you didn't you didn't wonder how does he know much so much about time travel?
01:29Oh, no.
01:34He must he must have made a similar mistake then.
01:37Well, maybe he tried to fix things to fix his parents from being killed.
01:41Yes.
01:44Oh, wait, did you did you film a scene of Keaton going back to that moment?
01:51No, I didn't. I know.
01:54I never said that he achieved it.
01:56I know. Oh, he managed to travel back in time.
01:59But, you know, I think he made a mistake and that he couldn't live with.
02:05And of course, if you see the movie, he says he has a whole narrative about it.
02:11And he says, well, Gotham, when when the Barry's asking how what you don't want to be Batman anymore.
02:16And he's like, well, Gotham doesn't need me anymore.
02:18Is one of the safest cities in the world.
02:21Bullshit.
02:28I mean, it's the safest city, safest city in the world.
02:31Right. It's the thing that you can believe or not.
02:35And in this scene, in this deleted scene, they're like they're traveling to to Siberia.
02:41And the two barriers are like, you know, whispering in the back.
02:44It's like, well, anyway, I'm not going to I'm not going to spoil it.
02:50He was right there.
02:57Anyway, there's a look at this.
03:00This all comes from.
03:04Yeah, this is this all comes from from discussing the Batman, the state that we're Batman with Batman in.
03:12And this is one of one of the discussions I had with ongoing conversations I had with with Keaton
03:18and finally agree that that that we would find Bruce in that stage, in that at that time, having quit being Batman and a reluctant hero.
03:29I mean, yeah, information to happen in the in this movie.
03:34Definitely didn't want Bruce Wayne.
03:37That was, you know, basically in front of his fireplace, just like stirring a glass of whiskey.
03:44Just like nothing happened anyway.
03:46But we had a beauty.
03:47It was beautiful work that I did with that we that we had with Keaton.
03:52And of course, it's so much fun, you know, to speculate things that that that that are sort of so iconic, which is not only the character Bruce Wayne, but also what is the future?
04:03What was the future of that movie?
04:05You know what it was like?
04:08And you can see it in the design of things.
04:10You see the Batcave, you see the costume, the Batman suit, the the the Batwing.
04:18They all have different alterations that talk to you about an evolution in in in his work as Batman.
04:28All the years that he continued being Batman after we last saw him in Batman Returns.
04:33Like a nightmare sequence is a nightmare sequence.
04:36Batman suit look like almost.
04:39Yeah, look really sick.
04:41The only thing that didn't change is the is the Batmobile.
04:45I wanted to keep that basically untouched because it's one of the things that you really don't want to change.
