00:01:14This is the Port of New York.
00:01:16To the traveler, it's a familiar, ever impressive skyline.
00:01:20To the newcomer, it's a symbol of hope.
00:01:23To the merchant, it's the biggest, busiest seaport in the world.
00:01:28But to others, it's a battleground,
00:01:30and a battle is constantly waged against illicit traffic and contraband,
00:01:35and against the unknown forces who deal in the most dangerous of all contraband,
00:01:39narcotics.
00:01:41On the front line in this battle is the Bureau of Customs
00:01:44of the United States Treasury Department.
00:01:47Part of its job is to check every piece of incoming baggage
00:01:51to see that no contraband is smuggled through.
00:01:55There are lots of tricks in the smuggling racket.
00:01:58The customs men are trained to know them all,
00:02:00the new ones, the old ones, and a few more.
00:02:04Yet despite the vigilance of these men,
00:02:07the flow of narcotics into the United States has never been completely checked.
00:02:12Government reports are full of case histories
00:02:14on the battle against illicit traffic in narcotics.

00:02:20One of the most dramatic was the one known simply
00:02:23as the Florentine case.
00:02:26The SS Florentine was approaching the port of New York
00:02:30on the night of June 22nd.
00:02:32She was a few miles out of the harbor.
00:02:35At 3.30 in the morning, one of the passengers appeared on B deck.
00:02:39Her name was Toni Kardell.

00:05:42The Florentine docked at 10 that morning.
00:05:45Soon after that her gangplank was lowered
00:05:48and her 832 passengers began to disembark.
00:05:51Among them was Tony Cardell.
00:05:55Like all the other passengers,
00:05:57Tony Cardell went through customs inspection.
00:05:59Her baggage was examined.
00:06:01There was nothing irregular in it.
00:06:03Her clearance was a matter of routine.

00:06:34I can't understand it, Paul.
00:06:37There was no reason to kill him.
00:06:39You told me the purser would be taken care of.
00:06:42You didn't say it would be with a knife in his back.
00:06:45Such a repulsive way of putting things, Tony.
00:06:48May I also say that you look slightly ridiculous.
00:06:50A woman should never indulge in flaw-facing as an emotional outlet.
00:06:53She becomes a foolish spectacle.
00:06:55Now, my dear, sit down and relax.
00:06:57Murder wasn't in the plans, Paul.
00:06:59I never would have gone through with it.
00:07:02Why did you have to kill him?
00:07:04I could hardly let him run loose in New York.
00:07:06It would have been only a question of time before they picked him up.
00:07:09A very bad risk.
00:07:10But I'm frightened, Paul.
00:07:12I never thought I'd be mixed up in a murder.
00:07:15But you are now, you know.
00:07:17And what do you wish me to do about it?
00:07:19Take me away, Paul.
00:07:21To Rio, like we planned, or someplace.
00:07:24Anyplace, just for a while, till this quiets down.
00:07:27That, my dear, is quite impossible.
00:07:30Paul, what's happened?
00:07:32You're not yourself.
00:07:34What is it?
00:07:36What's wrong?
00:07:39Darling, don't treat me like this.
00:07:42I've done what you wanted.
00:07:44Why are you acting like this?
00:07:46Please, darling.
00:07:47I must not become a nuisance.
00:07:54All right, Paul.
00:07:55If you won't take me, give me the money.
00:07:58I'll need at least 25,000.
00:08:03Are you certain that'll be quite enough?
00:08:05You'll never miss it.
00:08:07Florentine shipment is worth 50 times that.
00:08:09Eventually, yes.
00:08:11It'll be some time before I sell it.
00:08:13But I can't wait.
00:08:14I've got to get away now.
00:08:16I was seen talking to that purser.
00:08:18I danced with him.
00:08:20I had to.
00:08:21They're bound to find out and question me.
00:08:23I'm so frightened I might give the wrong answers.
00:08:26Yes.
00:08:27That's true.
00:08:29I might give the wrong answers.
00:08:32Who's there?
00:08:34No one to alarm you, my dear.
00:08:42I put the stuff in Penn Station.
00:08:44It'll be picked up tonight.
00:08:45All right.
00:08:46Wait in the other room.
00:08:47Here's the 25 grand.
00:08:48Staffs are collected from Cardiff.
00:08:50Oh, for the moment, Lenny.
00:08:57I thought you said you weren't selling yet.
00:08:59This is special.
00:09:00I'm going to Canada.
00:09:01I need cash.
00:09:02So do I, Paul.
00:09:04I'm unable to give you any more money, Toni.
00:09:06And this hysterical attitude of yours,
00:09:08I do not care for at all.
00:09:10You found someone else while I was away, didn't you, Paul?
00:09:13Who is she this time?
00:09:15Some little waitress?
00:09:17Cigarette girl?
00:09:18Kid out of the gutter?
00:09:20You're also developing the irritating habit
00:09:22of not minding your own business.
00:09:26I'm beginning to see you now, Paul.
00:09:28This little whim of yours
00:09:30for building up a poor girl from nothing
00:09:32is purely for the pleasure you get
00:09:34out of throwing her back into the trash barrel.
00:09:36You annoy me exceedingly.
00:09:38Please go.
00:09:41I'd give anything to be around and watch your smug,
00:09:44arrogant splatter all over the place
00:09:46the day they finally lock you in a jail cell.
00:09:57Shortly after all her passengers had been discharged,
00:10:00the Florentine's cargo was unloaded.
00:10:03One of the items was a legitimate shipment
00:10:06of raw narcotics consigned to the
00:10:08Dale Chemical Company of New Jersey
00:10:10for processing for medical use.
00:10:12It was a bonded shipment
00:10:14and was loaded into the Florentine's cargo.
00:10:17The cargo was loaded into the Florentine's cargo
00:10:20and loaded into the Florentine's cargo
00:10:22and loaded into the Florentine's cargo
00:10:24It was a bonded shipment
00:10:26and would have remained unopened in customs
00:10:28for several weeks
00:10:30had an alert inspector not found
00:10:32a discrepancy between the actual weight
00:10:34and the declared weight of the shipment.
00:10:37The inspector immediately ordered the box to be opened
00:10:40and instead of the consignment of narcotics
00:10:43vitally needed by hospitals and doctors,
00:10:45it was found to contain nothing but sand.
00:10:49The all-out alarm was sounded.
00:10:53The searching squad of the enforcement unit
00:10:55arrived immediately from customs headquarters
00:10:57prepared to go over every inch of the vessel
00:11:00for the missing narcotic shipment.
00:11:02The inspector in charge conferred
00:11:04with the Florentine's captain
00:11:06while the searching squad calmed the entire ship
00:11:09covering it from stem to stern,
00:11:11from keel to crow's nest.
00:11:13On learning that the ship's purser was missing,
00:11:16the inspector notified the supervising
00:11:18customs agent in charge.
00:11:20Within a matter of minutes,
00:11:22agent Michael Waters was assigned to the case
00:11:24and on his way.
00:11:30Waters' first job was to gather all available information
00:11:33aboard the Florentine.
00:11:37Interviewing a ship's officer,
00:11:39he learned that the missing purser
00:11:41knew the combination of the vault
00:11:43where the narcotics were kept.
00:11:45Further suspicion was thrown on him
00:11:47when it was discovered his personal papers were gone.
00:11:50Upon learning that one of the Florentine's
00:11:52life rafts was missing,
00:11:54agent Waters requested an immediate search of the harbor.
00:11:58Another arm of the treasury department went into action.
00:12:01The coast guard sent out its cutters.
00:12:08A tremendous area of the port
00:12:10and its approaches had to be covered
00:12:12before the search ended.
00:12:15With the indication that the stolen narcotics shipment
00:12:17had now reached the shores of the United States,
00:12:20the Florentine case took on added significance.
00:12:24And now still another branch of the United States treasury
00:12:27threw its forces into the battle.
00:12:29The Florentine case became a joint operation
00:12:32of the customs bureau and the bureau of narcotics.
00:12:37I might have to bring a man from Washington.
00:12:40I have no top agent free to handle a case this size.
00:12:44I may be out of line, sir, but what about Jim Flannery?
00:12:48Flannery just finished a couple of tough ones.
00:12:50I put him on a desk job.
00:12:52Desk job?
00:12:54Somehow I can't see Jim Flannery sitting behind a desk.
00:12:57It was the only way I could get him to take a little rest.
00:13:00You two worked together before, didn't you?
00:13:02Yes, the Exeter case about two years ago.
00:13:05We were a lucky combination on that one.
00:13:07Send in Jim Flannery and Sam Harrison.
00:13:10You feel better now, Waters?
00:13:12Well, I don't mind admitting it, sir.
00:13:14Working with Flannery is a real education.
00:13:16Well, this is a rough one. I hope you can crack it.
00:13:19Wow, here's that customs man.
00:13:21Good to see you again, Mickey.
00:13:22Hi, Jim. Long time, no see.
00:13:23Where you been hiding?
00:13:24Under a desk.
00:13:25Paper job.
00:13:27Too deep for me.
00:13:28What are you up to?
00:13:29Well, Jim, I'm switching assignments on you.
00:13:32You're going on a case.
00:13:34Thanks.
00:13:35The Florentine job?
00:13:37It's a big haul, Jim.
00:13:38I know. I've seen the reports.
00:13:40When they process that raw stuff,
00:13:42they'll have over a million dollars worth of dope to spread around.
00:13:45And as soon as they do that, Jim, we're sunk.
00:13:47We've got to grab that stuff before they start peddling it.
00:13:49But before we can grab it, we've got to find it.
00:13:51We've got a job on our hands, Mickey.
00:13:53Well, come in, Sam.
00:13:54Harrison will work with you.
00:13:56Good.
00:13:57Pleasure, Jim.
00:13:58You know Mickey Waters?
00:13:59Oh, sure. Hiya, Mick.
00:14:00Hiya, Sam.
00:14:01The Florentine case, Sam.
00:14:03Give them a rundown, Waters.
00:14:05Well, no leads except the missing purser.
00:14:08We're no wrecking on him.
00:14:10We're checking the passenger list and the crew now.
00:14:12So far, nothing there either.
00:14:14It doesn't give us much to go on.
00:14:16Except the missing purser.
00:14:17You find him and you're in business.
00:14:19Let's get out the local file and give it a shake.
00:14:21I don't think you can crack this one that easily, Jim.
00:14:24Neither do I, sir.
00:14:25But we might find out if the shipment's still in town.
00:14:27And if anyone has a copy of it,
00:14:29Okay, Jim.
00:14:30It's all yours.
00:14:31Good.
00:14:32Now, Sam, let's throw out the biggest dragnet we can.
00:14:34Pick up all informers and pushers.
00:14:36That should give us a lead on this purser.
00:14:38Jim, we're really starting from scratch on this one.
00:14:42Find a guy that looks like 10,000 other guys.
00:14:45Yeah.
00:14:46Yeah.
00:14:47But all we're sure of is one thing.
00:14:50He went that-a-way.
00:14:51Find one man.
00:14:53Because the package this man took from us
00:14:57Because the package this man took from the S.S. Florentine
00:14:59wasn't ordinary contraband.
00:15:02In that package was death.
00:15:05That's why a dragnet had to be thrown out
00:15:07over the entire city.
00:15:09In this package were the seeds of destruction.
00:15:12Bacteria to start a plague of violence and misery.
00:15:16Men would kill to get it.
00:15:18Men would die to keep it.
00:15:20And those who kept it would destroy themselves with it.
00:15:25That's why time was so important.
00:15:27This pestilence had to be stopped before it could spread.
00:15:31So the manhunt went on, relentlessly, day and night.
00:15:36Then, aboard a drift-collecting barge,
00:15:40the search ended.
00:16:25The End
00:16:35Here's the passenger list, Jim. Hundreds of them.
00:16:37And hundreds in the crew.
00:16:38Might be any one of them.
00:16:39And it might be none of them.
00:16:41You've got to keep checking, Mickey.
00:16:43Every one of them is a possibility.
00:16:45Come in.
00:16:47Mr. Flannery, there's a woman on the phone
00:16:49who wants to speak to someone in charge of the Florentine case.
00:16:52Who is she?
00:16:53She wouldn't give her name. She's on two.
00:16:58Flannery speaking.
00:16:59I understand you wanted to talk to me.
00:17:02How much do you pay for information on narcotic cases?
00:17:06Well, uh, that depends.
00:17:09What did you have in mind?
00:17:11It's about a shipment of...
00:17:14sand.
00:17:16The government pays 25% of the legal value of the merchandise recovered.
00:17:21Why don't you come up to the office and...
00:17:23No, that's impossible.
00:17:25You meet me in half an hour.
00:17:27On the elevated platform.
00:17:29Canal Street.
00:17:31I'm wearing a gray dress with white collar and cuffs.
00:17:34And a gray hat.
00:17:45Okay.
00:18:08Nice outfit.
00:18:09Gray dress, white collar, gray hat.
00:18:11You're...
00:18:12Flannery, and you?
00:18:13That doesn't matter.
00:18:15You said you'd pay for information.
00:18:16That's why I'm here.
00:18:18You were going to tell me about the Florentine shipment.
00:18:21Well...
00:18:22I can tell you where to find part of it.
00:18:25Then would I get the money right away?
00:18:27As soon as we have the evidence.
00:18:29You said, uh...
00:18:31part of the shipment.
00:18:32Well, I...
00:18:34I don't know where the rest of it is.
00:18:37But I can help you there, too.
00:18:39That is, if you...
00:18:41We'll pay for anything we get.
00:18:44Where did you, uh...
00:18:45get your information?
00:18:47Someone I know.
00:18:49That is...
00:18:51There's some people I know who are involved.
00:18:55If I could get the money right away...
00:18:57You said it wouldn't be long.
00:18:58It's up to you.
00:18:59Depends upon how soon we get the evidence.
00:19:01You'll get that tonight.
00:19:03Sometime tonight.
00:19:05Who is this, uh...
00:19:08somebody you know?
00:19:10You'll have to tell us everything.
00:19:13About the rest of the shipment.
00:19:14Names, places, everything you know.
00:19:16I...
00:19:18I'll have to get that.
00:19:20I need a little more time.
00:19:26I'll call you later.
00:19:27At your office.
00:19:28Later this afternoon.
00:19:29If you're afraid of him, we'll give protection.
00:19:31No.
00:19:33No, I'm not afraid.
00:19:35I'll call you later.
00:19:40I'll call you later.
00:19:58Let's give it some time.
00:20:09Let's give it some time.
00:20:40Say, what's the name of the young lady that just came in here, do you know?
00:20:43No, aren't you ashamed of yourself?
00:20:45Young fella like you should be working, not laughing.
00:20:48Well, I'll tell you, Pop.
00:20:50I will be working as soon as I find out who she is.
00:20:52Now, look, it means a lot to me.
00:20:55Well, now.
00:20:56Since you put it that way, uh...
00:20:58Her name is Toni Cardell.
00:21:01Apartment 5A.
00:21:03When I was your age, I'd have found out for nothing.
00:21:39Paul.
00:21:47Paul.
00:21:51You look so startled, Toni.
00:21:55As if you never expected to see me again.
00:21:58I didn't expect to.
00:22:01But I'm glad you've come, Paul.
00:22:03I've never needed you quite so much.
00:22:05And I didn't mean a word of what I said to you before.
00:22:08Maybe I didn't.
00:22:10I'm terribly sorry for it.
00:22:12So am I.
00:22:14You do forgive me, don't you, darling?
00:22:16Tell me, Toni.
00:22:17Did you come straight home after you left my place?
00:22:20Yes.
00:22:21Certainly.
00:22:23Why?
00:22:24Oh, I was just worried that you might have stopped somewhere on the way here.
00:22:29You're not making sense, Paul.
00:22:32It takes ten minutes to get from my apartment to yours.
00:22:35I phoned for an hour and a half.
00:22:37You weren't home.
00:22:39Well, I...
00:22:40I stopped for my railroad ticket.
00:22:43At the station.
00:22:52And you lost the ticket on the way home?
00:22:54No, I didn't get it.
00:22:59You have been most ungrateful, Toni.
00:23:01Most ungrateful.
00:23:04I wish you were coming with me, Paul.
00:23:08Tell me, Toni.
00:23:10Where are you planning on going?
00:23:13The West Coast.
00:23:15Then anywhere I can get.
00:23:21Come with me, Paul.
00:23:22Let's have it like it was before.
00:23:24Come with me, darling.
00:23:25Come with me.
00:23:27Come with me.
00:23:28Let's have it like it was before.
00:23:30Come with me, darling.
00:23:37I'm afraid I can't come with you, Toni.
00:23:43But I shall miss you.
00:23:49I'm so terribly worried, Paul.
00:23:53I don't know what to do.
00:23:54I'm worried too, Toni.
00:23:56Very worried about you.
00:23:58What do you mean?
00:24:01You're a frightened woman, Toni.
00:24:03Nervous.
00:24:04Lying.
00:24:05I'm not lying, Paul.
00:24:06I swear it.
00:24:07You're a bad risk, Toni.
00:24:09A very bad risk.
00:24:29THE WEST COAST
00:24:45And how do I get on the girl?
00:24:47Hello.
00:24:48Planner, injury department, narcotics.
00:24:50Waters, customs. I'm Debra, it's homicide.
00:24:52That's the lady, all right.
00:24:53Your man tells me you've had her under surveillance.
00:24:55That's right.
00:24:56I relieved Mickey at one, Jim.
00:24:57People have been walking in and out of the building until the squad cars came.
00:25:00Anybody's guess is good.
00:25:02Who found her?
00:25:03The maid, when she came in to clean at two o'clock.
00:25:05She can't be dead for over two hours.
00:25:06I'd tell her to the building at noon.
00:25:08Dead about an hour and a half, Ed.
00:25:10Apparently strangulation.
00:25:12But no finger, rope, or wire marks.
00:25:15Did your boys find anything like a parcel of catechism?
00:25:17No.
00:25:18He's been tearing the place to pieces looking for it.
00:25:20There's no junk here, Jim.
00:25:21Maybe your friends carted it off after they stopped the lady's breathing.
00:25:25Hey, Jim.
00:25:28Well, here's her passport.
00:25:30All right, you can chalk this one up to me.
00:25:32He had no reason to hold her.
00:25:37Take it, Gabe.
00:25:42Hello?
00:25:44No, who's calling?
00:25:46Penn Railroad reservations.
00:25:48Find out what it's about.
00:25:49I'll take the message.
00:25:52Six o'clock?
00:25:53Hold on a minute.
00:25:54We have a reservation for Cardell on the six o'clock train.
00:25:57Let me talk.
00:25:59This is a police investigation.
00:26:00Where was Miss Cardell going?
00:26:04I see.
00:26:05Thanks.
00:26:06You can cancel the reservation.
00:26:09She called up a couple of hours ago for a reservation on the six o'clock limited.
00:26:13Connecting with the Santa Fe in Chicago from Los Angeles.
00:26:16She could have blown town a lot sooner than that if she was running out on her date with you.
00:26:19I think she intended to keep it before she got on the train.
00:26:22Sam, you stick here.
00:26:24Give the lieutenant our story on the girl.
00:26:25See what his boys dig up.
00:26:26Right.
00:26:27Mickey and I are going to Penn Station.
00:26:29Strictly official.
00:26:34Attention, please.
00:26:36Train number nine.
00:26:39The governor for Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington
00:26:48will be leaving from gate number seven.
00:26:55Miss Cardell would not be keeping her date with Agent Flannery.
00:26:59Now it was up to Flannery and Waters to determine what she would have done.
00:27:03What plan she might have had.
00:27:06There were no narcotics in her apartment, yet she had promised to deliver the evidence by six o'clock.
00:27:12If she had planned to pick it up on the way, then death had cut off the trail.
00:27:17If it was already here in Penn Station, then Flannery and Waters had to find it.
00:27:22With the help of station detectives and a set of master keys,
00:27:26Flannery and Waters went about the painstaking job of looking for the needle in the haystack.
00:27:31In the vastness of the station, it could be hidden in many places.
00:27:35The baggage room, the cloak rooms, the lockers.
00:27:38Obvious places, but they all had to be searched,
00:27:41for the agents, as well as those in the racket,
00:27:44knew that the obvious place is often the safest one.
00:27:47Row after row of lockers was checked,
00:27:49and any parcel that might possibly contain narcotics had to be opened
00:27:53away from the eyes of the curious, in the privacy of the station master's office.
00:28:04This is it.
00:28:10Seems like the pure stuff.
00:28:12Would you get me an envelope, please?
00:28:14No marks on the container, Jim.
00:28:20What are you going to do?
00:28:22Get a sample of this to our lab for a test.
00:28:26This is no peddler's supply.
00:28:29And if it's pure, you can bet it came from the tap.
00:28:33Thanks for the use of that master key.
00:28:36But as far as you boys are concerned, this has never been out of the locker.
00:28:39Okay? Right.
00:28:43Attention, please.
00:28:44Sleeping car passengers,
00:28:47four of the cylinder blazer,
00:28:50train 48,
00:28:52to Pittsburgh and Chicago,
00:28:55will find their car locations
00:28:58listed on the bulletin board
00:29:01at gate number four.
00:29:04Well, we've had the break so far, Jim.
00:29:07All we can do now is sit tight and see what happens.
00:29:09Attorney Cardell put that package in there herself,
00:29:12and nothing's going to happen.
00:29:14She knew they used that locker for a delivery depot.
00:29:17We can expect a visitor sooner or later.
00:29:44Hmm?
00:30:14¶¶
00:30:44¶¶
00:31:17Thank you very much. You're a wonderful audience.
00:31:19I'd like to do more.
00:31:21So I will.
00:31:23Here's my favorite character.
00:31:29I'm Captain Bly, and I'm on the bounty.
00:31:34Mr. Christian.
00:31:36Mr. Christian.
00:31:38Bestow Christian, come here!
00:31:40How's up there in the clouds, Nance,
00:31:42making that vile ticking sound?
00:31:44Come down, I say,
00:31:46or I'll hang you on the highest yardarm
00:31:48of the English Navy.
00:31:50¶¶
00:32:04Thank you. Thank you very much.
00:32:06At this time, it gives me great pleasure
00:32:07to present our three Brazilian lovelies.
00:32:10Come on, folks, let's bring them out nicely.
00:32:12¶¶
00:32:18Gee, darling, you were terrific tonight.
00:32:20I'm terrific every night.
00:32:22Come here, you.
00:32:25Excuse me, I have private business.
00:32:28What did you do, push the package over with your nose?
00:32:30You've been over an hour.
00:32:32What are you beefing about?
00:32:34You didn't say rush.
00:32:35You didn't say rush.
00:32:41That's no way to handle that hunk of junk.
00:32:47Who are you guys?
00:32:49You ain't local.
00:32:51Edward Pinchbuster.
00:32:53Golly, what's happened? What are they doing?
00:32:55Who are you?
00:32:57Little Red Riding Hood.
00:32:59We're not playing games here.
00:33:01All right. I'm Lily Long. I'm a dancer here.
00:33:03You the girlfriend?
00:33:05I'm a good friend of his, that's all.
00:33:07Well, you better get some more clothes on, friend.
00:33:09You're going along, too.
00:33:11Oh, look, mister.
00:33:13This kid doesn't know anything about this.
00:33:15She's only here in the floor show.
00:33:17She doesn't know anything about it.
00:33:19We'll see.
00:33:21Who asked you to pick up the package?
00:33:23Him. The order says, come here, see a Dolly Carney.
00:33:25Dolly's him.
00:33:27He give me a key, says, get a package out of locker, a pen.
00:33:29Was the girl in the room, then?
00:33:31Nah. Only the character.
00:33:33What's in there?
00:33:35Sit down, Sonny. We'll send somebody back and pick you up.
00:33:37Dolly, don't stand for this.
00:33:39They can't push you around.
00:33:41Stay out of this, Lil.
00:33:43Look, she's not in this, believe me.
00:33:45I don't want to drag her into this.
00:33:47All right. We're not going to hold him as long.
00:33:49Thanks.
00:33:51But we may want to talk to you tomorrow, so don't plan any trips.
00:33:53All right.
00:33:55Key to room 1017. Car in that apartment.
00:33:57You live there, Carney?
00:33:59You guys are trying to frame me.
00:34:01I'm not in this business anymore.
00:34:03I was only doing a guy a favor, a guy I don't even know.
00:34:05All right, Carney.
00:34:07We'll have a little chat over at your place while we look it over.
00:34:09You guys got it all wrong.
00:34:11You got it all wrong.
00:34:13I was only doing a guy a favor.
00:34:15Let's go, Dolly.
00:34:17What's the matter, Dolly?
00:34:19Having trouble?
00:34:21Only get handled, Mac.
00:34:23Oh, yeah?
00:34:25I'm Joe Leone. This is my place.
00:34:27I don't like cops busting in here making pitches without warrants.
00:34:29You boys stick to your knitting and stay out of trouble.
00:34:31Are you going to move that or am I?
00:34:35You can't push me out like this.
00:34:37I got no right.
00:34:42Joey, how can we help him?
00:34:44What can we do?
00:34:46Oh, I don't know.
00:34:48I'm keeping out of this or I won't have any club left.
00:34:50We got to do something about it.
00:34:53Well, if you want to help him,
00:34:55he gave me a telephone number.
00:34:58Said you can call it.
00:35:03What are you doing to my stuff?
00:35:05Stop it, I say! Stop it! Stop it!
00:35:07I'll sue you!
00:35:09All right, Connie, let's go back to the very beginning
00:35:11and start all over again.
00:35:13Two things we want to know.
00:35:15Who were you buying for
00:35:17and who did you buy it from?
00:35:20You got it all wrong.
00:35:22So help me, you got it all wrong.
00:35:24Go on, put us right on it.
00:35:26Well, this is how it was.
00:35:30A guy came down from Canada.
00:35:32He wanted a big load of pure junk.
00:35:33Let's get the small details.
00:35:35What's the guy's name?
00:35:38All right.
00:35:40Why should I cover for the schnook?
00:35:42Name's Jeroms.
00:35:44At the Chevy Chase Hotel.
00:35:46You're getting better.
00:35:48Have a cigarette.
00:35:50Go on, Connie, I'm interested.
00:35:55I told him I wasn't operating anymore.
00:35:57If I heard of anything, I'd let him know.
00:35:59And you heard of something?
00:36:01Just by accident.
00:36:03I happened to run into a guy I knew a long time ago.
00:36:06He told me he had 25 ounces of pure.
00:36:09He wanted to sell for 25 Gs.
00:36:11What's this guy's name?
00:36:13I don't know.
00:36:15I don't know, so help me.
00:36:17A lot of peddlers, you never know their name.
00:36:19Where did you happen to run into him?
00:36:23Last Wednesday, Lil and I went to the...
00:36:26to the ball game.
00:36:28Somehow I don't see you at the ball game, Connie.
00:36:30Try again.
00:36:31I'm nuts about ball games.
00:36:33Are you?
00:36:35How about boat shows, Connie?
00:36:37Two tickets to the boat show,
00:36:39Grand Central Palace, last Wednesday.
00:36:41Bad habit, Connie, saving stubs.
00:36:43So what?
00:36:45So I went to the boat show, so what?
00:36:47So what? So you met your Mr. No-Name there?
00:36:49Yeah.
00:36:51But why at the boat show?
00:36:53Because I wanted to buy myself a yacht.
00:36:55Noble ambition, Connie.
00:36:57All right, Connie, move the line.
00:36:59But getting back to this Mr. No-Name,
00:37:01I've got a lot of guys.
00:37:03Tall, thin, dark...
00:37:05Where can we find him?
00:37:07I don't know, I haven't seen him in years.
00:37:09Three, four years.
00:37:11I haven't, so help me.
00:37:13There's nothing else here, Jim.
00:37:15The place is clean.
00:37:17What is there to laugh at my place for?
00:37:19I ought to sue you.
00:37:21Let's go downtown, Connie.
00:37:23Maybe you can remember your pal from the boat show on the way.
00:37:25How can I remember him?
00:37:27I never saw him, I tell you I never saw him.
00:37:29I don't even know his name.
00:37:31Don't pick him up, Dolly.
00:37:33But the guy we want most is your pal from the boat show.
00:37:35Maybe you can remember his name down in my office.
00:37:51Lily Long?
00:37:53Yes.
00:37:55I'm Stasser.
00:37:57I called because Joey said you could help.
00:37:59Maybe I can.
00:38:01He came with a package, they followed him.
00:38:03Then they grabbed Dolly.
00:38:05That's all?
00:38:07That's all. We've got to get Dolly out.
00:38:09You said there was someone...
00:38:11There is.
00:38:13Have you seen him? Will you bail him out?
00:38:15I'll take you to him. Come along.
00:38:31Come on.
00:38:32Come on.
00:39:00Rosa?
00:39:02I don't like this.
00:39:04She's mixed up with Connie. I don't trust her.
00:39:06What are you suggesting, Neil?
00:39:08We don't know what Connie told her.
00:39:10She's dangerous.
00:39:12Will you please allow me to make that decision?
00:39:29I'm Lily Long.
00:39:33Sorry to keep you waiting this long.
00:39:35That's all right.
00:39:37When I made that phone call, I didn't know about you.
00:39:39I didn't realize Dolly had friends like...
00:39:42Like this.
00:39:44I understand you are quite close, you and Mr. Connie.
00:39:48No, he's just a good friend of mine.
00:39:50He got me my job at the club and...
00:39:52You will do something to help him, won't you?
00:39:55I shall certainly do everything that is necessary.
00:39:58Let me pour you a drink while you tell me about yourself and...
00:40:00Our good friend, Connie.
00:40:02Well, I...
00:40:04I wanted to help him because it wasn't Dolly's fault.
00:40:07You see, he was just trying to do somebody a favor.
00:40:10He was doing it for someone else.
00:40:12Someone else.
00:40:14If you could give me some idea who it might be.
00:40:17I only wish I knew.
00:40:20You have no idea?
00:40:22If we could get Dolly out of jail,
00:40:24I might be able to make him tell me.
00:40:27I see.
00:40:29I see.
00:40:31Won't you do something to help him?
00:40:33He can't stay in jail, he can't take it.
00:40:35He can't?
00:40:37No, he... Don't you see he's not strong?
00:40:40If they keep him there, he'll go to pieces.
00:40:43It would be a pity.
00:40:45Will you do something?
00:40:47Are you going to help him?
00:40:51Don't worry, my dear.
00:40:54Don't worry.
00:40:59Leo.
00:41:01Arrange for bail.
00:41:03We must get this Connie out as soon as possible.
00:41:05What about the girl?
00:41:07Harmless.
00:41:09Our concern is with your friend, Connie.
00:41:11Your choice of associates, Leo, is surprisingly poor.
00:41:13In future, for your own safety,
00:41:15I advise you to be more careful.
00:41:26Well...
00:41:28We're doing everything we can for your friend, Connie.
00:41:58We're doing everything we can for your friend, Connie.
00:42:17We caught the Canadian.
00:42:19He denies everything.
00:42:21He's lying.
00:42:23But we can't prove anything to him.
00:42:25That makes you the pigeon, darling.
00:42:26It's a tough job, darling.
00:42:29And it's all yours.
00:42:31He's lying.
00:42:33I'm not going to take the job for anyone.
00:42:35Why should you, darling?
00:42:37We want the guy you got the stuff from.
00:42:39Where is he, darling?
00:42:42You have to get me out of here.
00:42:44I... I need...
00:42:50I have to get out of here.
00:42:52You can't do this to me.
00:42:54We're not doing it.
00:42:57We want the man at the head of this operation.
00:42:59If you happen to be in the way,
00:43:01it's too bad.
00:43:10We're waiting for you to give, darling.
00:43:26We're waiting for you to give.
00:43:57I'm burning up.
00:44:18It doesn't help.
00:44:27Say something.
00:44:30Say something.
00:44:32Will you?
00:44:34Repent, I say, darling.
00:44:36The rest is up to you now.
00:44:44Stasik.
00:44:45What?
00:44:47Leo Stasik.
00:44:49What I got from him.
00:44:51Where is this Stasik?
00:44:53He...
00:44:55He...
00:44:57He's got a boat work.
00:45:00Harbor Point.
00:45:05You gotta give me a break.
00:45:09You gotta take care of me.
00:45:11Sam, get the doc.
00:45:13Take care of him.
00:45:16While we're waiting for the doc,
00:45:18go on with that story.
00:45:20Where's the boat place?
00:45:25Marine.
00:45:27Row.
00:45:29Half mile.
00:45:31Harbor.
00:45:32Point.
00:45:49That's no cheese cloth establishment.
00:45:51If that's a front, these boys operate on a large scale.
00:45:54Sam, let's Connie pull that Stasik character out of a hat.
00:45:57That's what we better find out and fast.
00:45:59Let's move in a little closer.
00:46:15Hey, Jim.
00:46:17Take a look at that sign.
00:46:25Looks like this tub is gonna need a few quick repairs.
00:46:29Look, I run her in there, stick around and work on her a while.
00:46:32Forget it, Mickey. It's not that simple.
00:46:34It's a sense chip.
00:46:36That stuff's still in there. We gotta find out while it's still around.
00:46:39I can't let you risk your neck.
00:46:41You've never done any undercover work.
00:46:43I've learned a few tricks from the old professor.
00:46:47You better let me tackle this.
00:46:49Do you know anything about boats?
00:46:52Front from the rear.
00:46:54Yeah, you'd be great.
00:46:56Come on, I'll run you in.
00:46:58All right, Mickey.
00:47:24Come on, let's go.
00:47:55I'll get you.
00:48:15You got another one of those, pal?
00:48:17Yeah, catch.
00:48:21Thanks.
00:48:22Is that the high brass?
00:48:24That's the boss, Mr. Sasser.
00:48:28Sasser, eh?
00:48:52Come on, let's go.
00:49:23Come on.
00:49:42You're lost, aren't you, fella?
00:49:44Oh, yeah, I guess I am.
00:49:46Just looking for the drinking fountain.
00:49:48Look again. It's outside and down below.
00:49:50Oh, thank you.
00:49:52You're welcome.
00:50:14He's good for an hour now.
00:50:22Let's go.
00:50:52Let's go.
00:51:17Company shop and supply room down below.
00:51:36That's as far as I got when Laughing Boy caught up with me.
00:52:23Here it is.
00:52:25All the equipment you need for cutting the pure junk.
00:52:29These boys are sure of themselves.
00:52:31They do their processing right here.
00:52:33I guess Connie was on the level.
00:52:35Mr. Sasser is in the dope racket, all right.
00:52:36I'll check around downstairs. You cover the office here.
00:52:38Right.
00:53:36Let's go.
00:54:06Let's go.
00:54:36Let's go.
00:55:06Let's go.
00:55:36Let's go.
00:56:07Let's go.
00:56:13What are you doing here?
00:56:15You heard him.
00:56:16What are you doing here?
00:56:18I got a boat here.
00:56:20Just looking for parts.
00:56:21You're a liar.
00:56:23Come on, let's have it.
00:56:25Okay, I'll tell you.
00:56:27I'm down here from Canada.
00:56:29I got fouled up in a deal.
00:56:30It was Dolly Connie.
00:56:32Connie, huh?
00:56:33Go on.
00:56:34What about him?
00:56:36I brought up 25 grand to him.
00:56:38Got no stuff.
00:56:40He told me you guys operated out of here.
00:56:43Keep talking.
00:56:45Well, I...
00:56:47I figured I could grab a bundle of your stuff.
00:56:49You dirty thief!
00:56:51Hang on to him.
00:56:53Come on, let's look around.
00:56:54Maybe he brought some friends.
00:57:07We'll finish this outside.
00:57:09Get going.
00:57:10Uh-uh.
00:57:11We're taking him to the boss.
00:57:12This guy might want to talk some more.
00:57:14Sure, take me to the boss.
00:57:16He's just the guy I want to see.
00:57:17I'll talk plenty.
00:57:18Okay, let's go.
00:57:37The boss is going to wonder
00:57:39just how many pals Connie's got.
00:57:41How much he's told them.
00:58:06Come on.
00:58:36These are all his things.
00:58:38Everything Mickey had on him.
00:58:41I'll have them taken over to his folks.
00:58:43Okay.
00:58:45I was going to drop out there later.
00:58:47Sure, Jim.
00:58:48I can have someone else.
00:58:50It's all right.
00:58:51I'll handle it.
00:58:53Not much to bring them, is there?
00:58:55That.
00:58:58Three lines on page 27.
00:59:02Nothing about what kind of a guy he was.
00:59:04Not even his name.
00:59:07The case isn't closed, so
00:59:09he's an unidentified body.
00:59:11That's the way the road ends sometimes.
00:59:14It ends when we close this case.
00:59:16John, we've got to close this case.
00:59:18There's only one chance left.
00:59:20Wiley?
00:59:21It's a long shot,
00:59:22but I want you to let me take it.
00:59:23But Jim, it's too wild.
00:59:24No time for preparation.
00:59:25No cover story.
00:59:26We don't need a cover story.
00:59:27These people don't even know Wiley.
00:59:29I don't want two men killed on this case.
00:59:31For you to take this Wiley's place...
00:59:33We don't even know who sent him, Jim.
00:59:34Or how much he was supposed to buy.
00:59:36And we'll never know that from the outside.
00:59:39We could nab Stasser
00:59:40and take a chance on finding the stuff.
00:59:42There are hundreds of Stassers.
00:59:44Grab him and another one props up.
00:59:46We want the man at the top.
00:59:47Oh, sure.
00:59:48How do we know Wiley was going to deal with the top?
00:59:50If I'm Wiley,
00:59:51they'll deal the way I want them to deal.
00:59:52Jim, there's no time.
00:59:53All we know is Wiley's on his way here by plane.
00:59:56You could never...
00:59:57John, there's a million dollars worth of dope involved here.
00:59:59One-tenth of that is enough
01:00:00to start a dozen crime waves.
01:00:01Get more guys killed.
01:00:02More guys like...
01:00:05We've got to stop that.
01:00:07You've got to let me pull Wiley off that plane.
01:00:16Get me Morrison in San Francisco.
01:00:18The San Francisco Bureau went into action.
01:00:21If a man named Wiley made plans to leave,
01:00:24they would know about it.
01:00:31Notify all airlines and travel agencies
01:00:35to be on the lookout for a man named Wiley.
01:00:40Every clerk in every office was on the alert.
01:00:43Every ticket purchased was under close scrutiny.
01:00:54And finally,
01:00:55when a man named Wiley was ready for a trip to New York,
01:00:57Agent Carey of the San Francisco Bureau
01:01:00was ready to go along.
01:01:23The Chicago stopover was the break
01:01:25the narcotics agents needed.
01:01:27As soon as Wiley stepped off the plane,
01:01:29and before he could communicate with anyone,
01:01:32he walked, unsuspecting,
01:01:34into the custody of the authorities.
01:01:36And he was quietly removed
01:01:38to the seclusion of one of the offices.
01:01:42Okay, Wiley.
01:01:43We know everything about you.
01:01:45You're on your way to New York
01:01:46to buy up the Florentine shipment.
01:01:48You can make it easy for yourself
01:01:49if you open up to us.
01:01:51No idea what you're talking about.
01:01:52I'm on a vacation.
01:01:53I'm on a vacation.
01:01:55You have no idea how long a vacation, brother.
01:01:58I'm giving you a chance to shorten it.
01:02:00You're wasting your time and mine, too.
01:02:02The plane leaves in a few minutes.
01:02:04This is the end of the line for you, Wiley.
01:02:05Let's have some conversation.
01:02:07No comments.
01:02:10How are your boys doing back here?
01:02:12Just his clothes in the bag and a lot of phony papers.
01:02:14No money?
01:02:15No.
01:02:16The deal was supposed to be cash.
01:02:18Routine cards in the wallet, except for this.
01:02:21The bird on the right is Al Yoxey.
01:02:24I've been booked in Comunicado.
01:02:26Larry and I are going downtown.
01:02:27We've got some business.
01:02:30All the experience and skill
01:02:32of the department's technicians
01:02:33were brought into play.
01:02:35And within a very short while,
01:02:37Flannery had completed the first step
01:02:39in the process of becoming Wiley.
01:02:42In the few minutes at his disposal,
01:02:44Flannery had to be briefed
01:02:46on the record of Al Yoxey,
01:02:48big shot in the West Coast narcotics business
01:02:50and a man who had been involved
01:02:51with Wiley,
01:02:53big shot in the West Coast narcotics ring.
01:02:55But in spite of all their efforts,
01:02:57no lead, no clues,
01:02:59no information available on Wiley.
01:03:02To make his impersonation come off,
01:03:05Flannery would have to play for the breaks.
01:03:08It was going to take luck
01:03:10and much more than that.
01:03:18Later that afternoon,
01:03:19when Flannery arrived
01:03:20at a party afield in New York,
01:03:22it was a man named Wiley
01:03:25who walked into the airport building.
01:03:29Associated Airways,
01:03:30flight 219 for Chicago and Los Angeles,
01:03:34now leaving at gate 5.
01:03:36All aboard, please.
01:03:41You have a message for Mr. Wiley.
01:03:50Associated Airways,
01:03:52flight 190 for Los Angeles,
01:03:54now leaving at gate 5.
01:03:56All aboard, please.
01:04:00Passengers Rodley and Dickinson,
01:04:03please step to the transnational airline counter.
01:04:06Passengers Rodley and Dickinson, please.
01:04:17Flight 127 from Hawaii,
01:04:20San Francisco and Los Angeles,
01:04:22now arriving at gate 7.
01:04:25The men of the Bureau of Narcotics
01:04:27kept a watchful eye on Flannery
01:04:29and reported the success of his first contact with the gang.
01:04:33Supervising agent Meredith and his men
01:04:35could only stand by and wait
01:04:37to see if Flannery could find his way,
01:04:39his identity undetected,
01:04:41to the missing shipment from the SS Florentine
01:04:44and signal them to close in.
01:04:47Until then, Flannery would have to face
01:04:48the risks of his dangerous impersonation alone.
01:04:54Yes?
01:04:56What?
01:04:58When?
01:05:00Why the police didn't they check with us
01:05:02before they released him?
01:05:04Dolly Carney was released this morning.
01:05:06He's liable to go straight to Stasser.
01:05:08If he sees Jim, it's all over.
01:05:11So help me.
01:05:13You guys are real pals.
01:05:15You can tell whoever went Dolly Carney's bail
01:05:17if Dolly Carney won't forget it.
01:05:19They'll be glad to hear it.
01:05:21Thanks a lot for the lift.
01:05:23A lot of service.
01:05:27Where are you going?
01:05:29Up with you.
01:05:31What for?
01:05:33I've got things to talk about.
01:05:37This man's got three months.
01:05:39This little guy's really lost up my place.
01:05:48How much of your guts did you spill in the can,
01:05:50blabbermouth?
01:05:52I didn't tell them anything, Leo.
01:05:54So help me.
01:05:56Somebody else must have fingered you, not me.
01:05:59I hear the palo bailed me out.
01:06:01He said it was a friend.
01:06:03He didn't say who, but I guess it was you.
01:06:05How much did you tell the cops?
01:06:06As much as you told the Canadian.
01:06:09I didn't tell the cops anything, Leo.
01:06:11What's with the Canadian?
01:06:30Leo.
01:06:32What are you going to do, Leo?
01:06:34What are you going to do?
01:06:36I didn't tell them anything, Leo.
01:06:38I didn't tell them anything.
01:06:56Suicide.
01:06:58Oh, no.
01:07:00No, you must be wrong.
01:07:04I see.
01:07:06You can't be.
01:07:36You can't be.
01:08:07I'm Stask.
01:08:10Glad to meet you.
01:08:14You're late.
01:08:16Sorry.
01:08:18I had some arrangements I had to make on the way.
01:08:21Missed my connection.
01:08:27Al Yoxie sends his regards.
01:08:29Al Yoxie sends his regards.
01:08:55Sit down.
01:08:56I...
01:09:06We can do business now.
01:09:08You brought the money.
01:09:10I haven't seen the merchandise.
01:09:16I have my orders.
01:09:17I'm not buying air.
01:09:26I'm not buying air.
01:09:57All right.
01:09:59We can do business now.
01:10:01Sure we can.
01:10:02If we see the 200 grand.
01:10:04We'll take the money now, Wiley.
01:10:06I haven't got it.
01:10:07Where is it?
01:10:08I haven't got it with me.
01:10:10You think I'm that stupid?
01:10:12You think I want to wind up the way that purser did?
01:10:16It's a double-cross.
01:10:17I'll take you to the money.
01:10:19I'll take you to the money.
01:10:21I'll take you to the money.
01:10:23I'll take you to the money.
01:10:24It's a double-cross.
01:10:25I'll take you to the money as soon as I see the head man.
01:10:28How do you know you're not talking to the head man?
01:10:31I only know what I've been told.
01:10:34Yoxie had nothing whatsoever about that in the letter.
01:10:37Not in the letter, naturally.
01:10:39I've got my orders.
01:10:41I deal with the top or I don't deal.
01:10:45Keep him here.
01:10:48Sit down.
01:10:50And in the headquarters of the enforcement unit,
01:10:53the men of the bureau waited for the prearranged signal from Flannery.
01:10:57Until it came, they could do nothing.
01:11:00Yet they knew that his situation must be growing more dangerous
01:11:04with every passing moment.
01:11:19You're being very difficult, Mr. Wiley.
01:11:21You think I'd come here with 200 grand on me?
01:11:23A man could get hurt that way.
01:11:25A man can get hurt many ways.
01:11:27To be crude about it.
01:11:29You have seen the merchandise?
01:11:31I want to see the money.
01:11:33It'll be here in 15 minutes,
01:11:35after I make a phone call.
01:11:37Make a phone call?
01:11:39To whom?
01:11:40The money was sent to our contact in town.
01:11:43I'm to call him as soon as I'm satisfied.
01:11:45This wasn't mentioned to me.
01:11:47You're supposed to bring the cash with him.
01:11:51Would you have brought it?
01:11:56We'll play this your way.
01:11:58For a while.
01:12:00But if this is a trick,
01:12:02your new friends will get it, Mr. Wiley.
01:12:05Where's the phone?
01:12:07On the dock.
01:12:09Just a minute.
01:12:11Ike?
01:12:12What number do you call?
01:12:20Call this number.
01:12:22Tell them to send the money
01:12:24in a box
01:12:26by uniformed messenger
01:12:28to the Brooklyn Municipal Pier.
01:12:30We'll be there in 40 minutes.
01:12:33Brooklyn Municipal Pier, 40 minutes.
01:12:35Why not have it brought here?
01:12:37A public pier
01:12:39is a public place.
01:12:40A public pier
01:12:42is the most unlikely place
01:12:44for strong-arm tactics.
01:12:47You guys got sore
01:12:49because we were so cautious.
01:13:01Yeah?
01:13:03Hello?
01:13:05I'm calling for Wiley.
01:13:07All right.
01:13:09Brooklyn Municipal Pier.
01:13:12Okay.
01:13:14Tell Wiley it'll be there.
01:13:19I just got a message from Flannery.
01:13:22Brooklyn Municipal Pier,
01:13:2440 minutes.
01:13:26Okay, Sam.
01:13:28Let's get started.
01:13:37The guy answered.
01:13:38Says the money'll be there.
01:13:39We'll show him off immediately.
01:13:40Right away.
01:13:42Put the stuff in Mr. Wiley's bag.
01:13:46If everything goes well,
01:13:47we'll put you ashore at the pier.
01:13:51Somebody to see you.
01:14:06Come on.
01:14:28Of course, I will take up
01:14:29the matter in due course and...
01:14:31Oh, well.
01:14:32Little Red Riding Hood.
01:14:33Hello.
01:14:34This is a pleasure.
01:14:36You two know each other?
01:14:37Yes, we met through a...
01:14:39mutual friend.
01:14:41What are you doing here?
01:14:42Oh, I'm just a...
01:14:44business associate.
01:14:47Mr. Wiley and I
01:14:48have a little business matter to discuss.
01:14:51Do you mind?
01:14:52It won't be a moment.
01:15:00A lovely girl, our friend.
01:15:02Yes.
01:15:04Little Red Riding Hood.
01:15:06You seem to know her better than I do.
01:15:08I've known her a few months.
01:15:10I met her on my last trip in.
01:15:12A few months?
01:15:14You do have an advantage over me.
01:15:20You seem rather upset
01:15:21over seeing your friend, Mr. Wiley.
01:15:23It's only that I was so surprised.
01:15:26I can hardly blame you.
01:15:27He tells me he hasn't seen you
01:15:28in several years.
01:15:37I'll join you in a minute, Mr. Wiley.
01:15:39Benny.
01:15:40Please prepare some drinks.
01:15:45When we reach the bay,
01:15:46head out through the open sea.
01:15:50Before we keep that up,
01:15:51I'd like to ask you
01:15:52if you'd be so kind
01:15:53as to give me a few minutes
01:15:54of your time, Mr. Wiley.
01:15:56Sure, Mr. Wiley.
01:15:58I'd like to ask you
01:15:59if you'd be so kind
01:16:00as to give me a few minutes
01:16:01of your time, Mr. Wiley.
01:16:02Sure, Mr. Wiley.
01:16:03I'd like to ask you
01:16:04if you'd be so kind
01:16:05before we keep that appointment.
01:16:07There are a few matters
01:16:08to be straightened out.
01:16:12They should have been here by now.
01:16:14I think we're in for trouble.
01:16:15Let me have that phone.
01:16:19Twenty-three, over.
01:16:22Meredith speaking.
01:16:24The yacht hasn't shown.

01:17:20Tell me, when is it you said you met?
01:17:23Here's one maybe you can answer.
01:17:25We should have been at the pier by now, what's holding us up?
01:17:27It wouldn't be changing the subject for you, Mr. Byler.
01:17:29You said 40 minutes, what about it?
01:17:31Very good question.
01:17:33What about it?
01:17:35Don't seem to be enjoying our cruise, my dear.

01:18:12You're murderous.
01:18:13Take her away.
01:18:14And you, Mr. Wiley, or whatever your name is, if you hadn't arrested Dolly, they never
01:18:20would have killed him.

01:18:24Hold him here.
01:18:26You and Lenny tie him up.
01:18:32Mr. Wiley is leaving the boat.
