00:00Hey guys, as I showed you on previous videos, self-registers, self-checkout registers have become the norm in Japan.
00:06However, this is the first time we've seen this.
00:09They give you a smartphone when you enter the store.
00:14Actually, it's an English option, which we experimented with.
00:20And then you walk around the store, swiping things as you put them into your trolley.
00:28And it gives you a running total of how much money you've spent.
00:31And then when you get to the register at the end, you just swipe the barcode and pay the money.
00:39Usually with a payless, paperless system like some sort of PayPal or PayPay type system.
00:46So they give you a trolley with this little holder for the phone.
00:53And you go to work.
00:56Some people have an issue with this, having to do the work themselves.
01:03But this has become the norm. Banks of self-registered checkouts with one staff member standing back,
01:09sort of watching to see if people need help.
01:15A couple of systems there to sort of monitor what you've actually got in your trolley.
01:18So they do have some security going on, but not a lot.
01:23That lady just did it. Swiped the barcode and out the door.
01:27There we go. More videos coming soon.
