The number of flood victims in Kedah has surged to over 8,400 from more than 2,800 families as of 3p.m. on Sunday (Sept 22).

According to the Irrigation and Drainage Department's Public Infobanjir portal, four rivers in Kedah have reached danger levels, while in Perak, the Bukit Merah Reservoir has also hit a warning level, with water levels exceeding 9m.

00:17sheltered in 42 temporary relief centers across five districts, with Kota Star having the
00:22highest number of victims at over 5,200.

00:34Meanwhile, in Perak, a primary school in Kerian has been serving as a relief center for 28
00:40people since Friday after Kampung Matang Tengah was flooded.
00:44The Bukit Merah reservoir in the district has also reached a warning level, with water
00:49levels exceeding nine metres.
00:51The Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast continuous rain from morning to night
00:56in several Perak districts including Larut, Matang, Selama, Kerian, Manjung, Hulu Perak
01:03and Kuala Kangsar.
