One of the most disturbed movie characters in cinematic history has done some pretty gross stuff. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re diving into the Top 10 creepiest and most revolting things the self-proclaimed bio-exorcist, Beetlejuice, ever did.

00:27Number 10. Chewing a fly.
00:29Beetlejuice.
00:30Right after we learn about the trickster demon's bad reputation from caseworker Juno,
00:34we see it for ourselves in the Zagnut scene.
00:37Trapped in the model of the town, his prison,
00:40BJ spots a fly hovering over the graveyard section.
00:44Hey, you. Hey, come here.
00:47With a sweet, beckoning voice and a chocolate bar as bait,
00:50Beetlejuice lures the fly to come closer.
00:52I got something good for you. Come on.
00:54In mere seconds, he grabs the insect through a crack and we hear a cry for help.
01:04Gross, right?
01:05We'll assume that the squeaky cry was the fly being devoured by Beetlejuice.
01:09The fact that he prefers a helpless fly over a crunchy candy bar
01:13is a clear indication that this titular miscreant is downright nasty.
01:18Number 9. A leprechaun growing on BJ's back.
01:21Pat on the back.
01:22The animated version of the ghoulish troublemaker
01:25might be a toned-down version of the character, but he's still a sleazeball.
01:29I call it my hair apparent.
01:35Hairdy hair hair, Beetlejuice.
01:38In the first season, Beetlejuice claims he deserves a pat on the back,
01:42and a purple-hued Irish-accented creature literally pops out on his shoulder.
01:47And guess what? The little guy's name is Pat.
01:49Hi, I'm Pat, the little Pat on the back you've been wanting.
01:53What? Hey, get off my back, you freeloading freak.
01:57This pun-filled moment is classic Beetlejuice humor,
02:00and a big reason fans love the franchise.
02:02But let's be real, the idea of a living thing sprouting out on someone's body
02:06is an absolutely disturbing sight,
02:09even for someone as naturally unsettling as Beetlejuice.
02:12Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Nice try, lad, nice try!
02:22The wedding between the mischievous personality BJ and his unwilling bride,
02:26which nearly happened in the original film,
02:28almost comes true in the 2024 movie.

02:34After exposing Rory as a liar using truth serum,
02:37Beetlejuice takes over his place as Lydia's groom.
02:40Decked out in his original wedding suit with Lydia in her iconic red gown,
02:44history is about to repeat itself.
02:46As this bizarre ceremony ensues,
02:49everyone gets possessed by the ghost with the most
02:51and starts reciting the lyrics of MacArthur Park by Richard Harris.
02:58And to make things even weirder,
03:00out of a Beetlejuice-themed cake flows slimy green icing.
03:04Yuck.
03:05For any cake lover, this is a sickening sight.
03:09Why does everything about BJ have to be so gross?
03:20In the 15th episode of the animated series' fourth season,
03:23Lydia and Beets face a new challenge.
03:28BJ's sophisticated skeleton has had enough of his messy, smelly body
03:32and decides to run away to form a life of its own.
03:35I've always known I was too good to be Beetlejuice's skeleton.
03:39All I needed was a little encouragement.
03:44Now, it's up to Lydia and her ghostly friend to find it before the skeleton crew does.
03:48Come on, Beetlejuice, will you please stop whining?
03:52I can't help it, babes.
03:55I have no backbone.
03:59The moment when this snobby skeleton rips away from Beetlejuice is pretty graphic.
04:03But can we really blame the poor skeleton for making such a bold move?
04:08When was the last time this undead guy even had a bath?
04:11Disgusting or not, this episode is packed with so much fun and definitely worth revisiting.
04:16No bones about it.
04:27Beetlejuice is this weird and nasty guy,
04:30and nearly everything he does is like the direct opposite of normal or clean.
04:37So it's no surprise when he pulls out some truly
04:40unappealing food during his picnic with Lydia in the Neitherworld.
04:43For starters, there's corn on the slob.
04:47The main course is macaroni salad.
04:52And for dessert, strawberry snort cakes.
04:58Though she sounds like she appreciates his otherworldly cuisine,
05:01seeing him serve up grimy, rotten food that's clearly inedible is stomach churning.
05:08BJ calls them delicious treats,
05:11but they can only appeal to those with morbid tastes like his alienated teenage friend.
05:16This is exactly what you would expect from Beetlejuice,
05:19turning what should be a simple picnic into a freaky fest with his unappetizing menu.
05:38Adam and his ghostly wife probably knew they were making a huge mistake
05:41by enlisting the lecherous ghost,
05:43but they summoned him anyway and quickly learned their errors within seconds of meeting him.
05:51Throughout his limited screen time,
05:53the eponymous character was mostly this obnoxious pervert lifting skirts,
05:57forcing kisses, and groping girls.
06:00Barbara in particular suffers the most from his lewd acts.
06:03He constantly pesters her and grabs her when she least expects it.
06:07We're like peas in a pod, the three of us.
06:09Let's face it, you want somebody out of the house, I want to get somebody out of your house.
06:13It's no wonder the Maitlands couldn't keep up with his erratic behaviors and wanted him gone.
06:18Beetlejuice may be an iconic character,
06:20but if he were real, he'd likely be dragged to court more than a few times.
06:30With Beetlejuice's over-the-top antics that mix crude gestures with adult language,
06:34Tim Burton's classic isn't quite as family-friendly as you might remember.
06:42After Adam and Barbara vanish back to their home,
06:44a furious Beats kicks a tree over and drops the F-bomb.
06:48Then he makes a honking sound while grabbing his crotch.
06:54Something tells us that's not the first time he's done that.
06:57And as if that weren't enough,
06:59Beetlejuice even visits what looks like a strip club at some point to find some action.
07:03There are no two ways about it, BJ is a creepy creep.
07:14When we last saw the chaotic bug-eating ghost in the film,
07:17he was being devoured by a sandworm.
07:19Fast forward to the animated series, which feels like an alternate universe,
07:23and the morbid creature is summoned again by Lydia.
07:26He bursts onto the screen with green foul-smelling gas coming from his mouth
07:30and flashes a grin full of bugs.
07:33What a way to make an entrance, a pretty disturbing one.
07:44Beetlejuice's obsession with bugs continues.
07:47Even in the original movie, he chomps down on a live bug in front of Lydia.
07:52It's on brand, but still totally gross.
07:55Even worse, in one episode, he picks bugs from leftover chicken and chews them.
08:04Honestly, we don't blame the chicken for haunting him.
08:25You hear about this kind of thing, but you never expect it to happen to you,
08:28know what I mean?
08:34This is the height of BJ's lecherous behavior.
08:37Towards the end of Burton's hit horror comedy,
08:40Otho unintentionally performs an exorcism that causes the Maitlands to decay.
08:44Horrified, their human friend turns to the self-proclaimed bio-exorcist for help.
08:49Seizing the opportunity, Beetlejuice manipulates this young lady into marrying him,
08:54an ancient ghost.
09:08This shows just how twisted and perverted BJ truly is,
09:12with no regard for the fact that Lydia is both mortal and, well, a teenager.
09:16And, if you think this is horrible,
09:22the original script had even worse plans for Lydia and Beetlejuice.
09:26Regardless, there's no justification for his outrageous behaviors.
09:30Charismatic or not, this crude demon is simply a creepy old guy.

10:05Remember the famous scene where BJ morphs into a giant snake to scare the Dietzes?
10:13In case you somehow don't, it happens after Otho stumbles on the miniature town,
10:18thinking it'd be a great business opportunity.
10:20But things go south when the Reality Warper,
10:23now a large, slithering creature, lashes out at Otho and the Dietzes,
10:27causing them serious harm.
10:30This moment shows that BJ's menace knows no bounds.
10:37One minute he's this mischievous ghost, and the next, a vicious serpent.
10:42Is he still the zany ghoul he started as?
10:48Well, it's impressive when you realize this snake was a stop-motion creation
10:52designed to look like Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice.
10:54But even so, it is still downright terrifying and disturbing.
