In this episode of Poke the Bear, Conor Ryan and Evan Marinofsky react to a variety of Bruins topics, including Don Sweeney providing insight on the Jeremy Swayman situation and assessing how the Bruins would fare if they had to play the beginning of the season without him.

The conversation then turns to their reactions on the lineup seen at the beginning of training camp, and how the lines could look different from last season.

00:30What is up?
00:32Evan I'm doing well. How you doing doing great doing great campus underway
00:37We're officially in we've made it we got through the summer
00:41We got through some of the boring months and we are here and boy. Oh boy Connor
00:46first press conference of the entire
00:50Season because I'm not counting captain's practice first press conference the entire season Don Sweeney comes in guns blazing
00:57had the had the
00:59Spitting all over themselves pod or spitting up on themselves podcast
01:03He had that he had you know, he was like in with a team of comedy writers like workshopping like ah
01:09What's gonna be the best dig I can make it them and they're like what if we did this spitting up on themselves pod?
01:15It's like yes, that's the one I need to find a time to use but he was coming in guns blazing
01:19at everybody and
01:21He was throwing I was through the podium and tie like it was ah
01:25Almost took out a hockey stick to just bat him down on the head. Yes, but quite the
01:33Quite the juice as Don Sweeney said he said I think he was referring to both himself and reporters
01:40We like juice and there was quite a bit of juice
01:43From day one we're doing this after day two a little less drama on day two just line combinations
01:49Which we'll get to in a bit. Yeah, and look I see the YouTube comments. I see Twitter
01:54I know people are sick of this Jeremy Swainman situation. Here's something
01:58We also are kind of sick of this Jeremy Swainman situation, but we can't avoid it. We're not gonna not talk about it like
02:06Okay, let's let's focus on the guys on the ice when the number one goalie is is currently not
02:12Dressing and isn't a you know is looking for a new contract
02:17We'll start here Connor. Are you panicked?
02:21I'm not panicking yet
02:23I think that Don Sweeney mentioning, you know, December 1st and you know
02:29The fact that that is really the the true deadline and I you know, we've again
02:34we will say we've mentioned this time and time again on multiple podcasts multiple shows like I
02:40Get to training camp everyone's in the same building everyone's around everyone's locked in
02:44they'll reach a solution at some point, but
02:48It's not like October 8th is the true deadline October 8th is their season opener in Florida
02:53Which I think we'll get to it, but you don't really want
02:57Jonas Corpora solo and Brendan Bussey being your two guys. They're in Florida
03:01Banner-raising really good team on the road not ideal
03:06But beyond that yeah, like the real deadline is December 1st in terms of if Swayman isn't signed by then
03:14He's out for the whole year. He's not coming back. He misses the whole playoffs. You hope it doesn't get to that point. I know
03:21William Nylander on his last contract with Toronto kind of got to the 11th hour there
03:26I believe is the same agency as who's representing Jeremy Swayman. So you're
03:32Noticing a trend there you hope it doesn't get to that point
03:37But it does feel like as much as I mean, you know, I'm amongst all the different like rumors swirling about
03:45What one side is asking for how close they are to a deal
03:49It does feel like at least for right now and again all it takes is one phone call to kind of change that
03:54both sides are pretty dug in right now and it's kind of who's willing to make that first concession is it going to
04:01wait until plays out in the season because again, then you run one one you run the risk from both Swayman and the Bruins camp of
04:09getting the regular season you're one hurting the overall team and
04:13you know, I
04:14Think you look at the state of the Bruins goalie grouping right now with corporate solid bussy. You don't feel
04:20great about it right now, but like if
04:24again, crazy things have happened you look at the track record if they're like
04:28Solid in net and it's a goalie by committee and like bussy
04:32Ends up playing at a high level out of the gate or corporate solo plays great. Then it also that's swimming. It's losing leverage
04:38I'm not saying that all sudden like
04:40Corporate solo starts his time in Boston 300 with a shutout or something like that. No, I'm straight swimming screw it
04:47Goodbye, I don't think getting that but whether it's from Swayman's perspective or the Bruins
04:52The more this plays out the more you don't move forward without a contract
04:57Someone's gonna lose out and honestly, it's kind of a lose-lose
05:00However, where you want to put put it like you need Swayman in net and Swayman right now needs this valuable time
05:06It's not like he's just going into
05:08Another year and every year is different, but this is a guy that is expected to be your number one goalie
05:14You know his most games he's played in a year is 44 games
05:16You need to get him ramped up for that every day that he's not at the rink getting the conditioning work done
05:23Working with Baba Senza and having those resources
05:26It's gonna hurt his overall game and he can you know hit the ice and I'm not you know
05:30It is we've seen from Jeremy's swimming so far right over his time here in Boston
05:34Like guy is very committed to his craft stayed in Boston the entire year
05:38I'm sure he's gonna be putting the work in but when you're not in the building every day with your teammates
05:43With Baba Senza with all these things it is gonna hurt you and obviously it's going to hurt the Bruins barring something
05:49Miraculous going on or something. We don't foresee with the busty Corpora solo tandem
05:54Which who would have thought that would have been what we'd be talking about at this point in September, right?
05:59Yeah, I mean, I think that tandem like, you know, the Bruins are a pretty good structured team
06:05I know last year was a little bit of a deviation from what had been the norm for so long
06:10Yeah, they are good on D at least on paper going into this year. They're better up front like
06:16would it shock me if
06:19Corpora solo and busty at least were serviceable. No, I don't think it would shock me
06:23I mean, are you getting swayed in like production? Are you clearly first in the Atlantic after a month with that tandem?
06:28I don't think so. But again, the Bruins are a good team
06:32So, you know anything can happen but you also can be sunk by bad goaltending where it's like, you know
06:36They come out of October and that tandem is not working in the Bruins like alright, like let's hash something out now
06:43And then even in that case though and I look at you know, Swayman is most likely
06:47Getting work done, you know getting skating work in somewhere else doing stuff
06:51So he's gonna not skate for however long and then like, you know
06:54Let's just say it's like October 8th, and he's just back and that's our first time in that like go get him tiger
07:00so that will not be the case, but you are like if if you are looking at that December 1st deadline as
07:08The target date which is scary to everybody
07:12When you come back, you know, let's say as I mentioned that let's say that tandem wasn't working
07:17Well, it's not like you can just come right back in and it's like, all right
07:19We're good now like you're putting a guy in with no preseason games in that case
07:25Not a ton of practice no practice work with this team
07:28So again, that's another scary element to that as well
07:31Like I think a lot of people are like, oh, well, let's if Corpo Salo and Bussy are great
07:35Well, then, you know, it's gonna flip the tides on Swayman and it's like well if they also if they stink and they're not good
07:41It's not good for the Bruins and that's that's really the worst case scenario because you're getting a guy coming in
07:46Who is not fully prepared for that kind of workload in terms of my panic?
07:52Like I think it's very clear. They are not close
07:57Sweeney, you know in our jobs Connor, you know, this can't always believe people in authority can't always believe what they're saying
08:05Sometimes you can tell when someone's lying a lot of times
08:08They just withhold information and now obviously Sweeney won't go into detail on you know, oh, we're looking at six years
08:14He's looking at four blah blah blah. He won't do that. He made himself clear on that
08:18but
08:19but I
08:21Do think there was genuine disappointment and emotion and that they are not close. I think he gave us that much
08:29in terms of what I think it gets done, I
08:32Still think it's some time in camp. I do and I know that Swayman's side
08:38You know his agency has dug their feet in before not budged I get that I
08:44Don't know though. And I also wonder like there's also the other end of it where you know, you had multiple people
08:50either reporting or insinuating on
08:53Tuesday that a deal was close or you know, Courtney Cox from WEI said it was done
08:58Now again, I you know, it's not true. Sweeney said as much but where's that coming from?
09:05Who's saying that because even if they're not hearing from people directly involved in
09:11negotiations
09:12Somewhere someone has a reason to think that now, maybe it's people pushing agendas. I don't know. I'm not getting inside that stuff
09:20But how does that happen?
09:22Because you know and Darren Drager even reported that there are good vibe surrounding this so like it's trending in the right direction. I
09:30I don't know. That's where it's sort of conflicting where like I still have holding
09:34I still believe and I'm still gonna hold on to my prediction of it gets done in the next one to two weeks
09:40Yeah, that's not perfect. But that's why I'm not fully panicking yet. I'm not I'm not there yet
09:46yeah, no, I agree and I think you hear from especially like the
09:51The insiders who've been doing this for a long time, right?
09:54Like and again, even that's kind of kind of been tough to gauge, right?
09:57Cuz you got in this corner Elliot Friedman who again is one of the more most respected NHL insiders saying that there's still
10:05philosophical differences, which is like
10:07Not what you want to hear when it's a contract that can have a wide variance between term payout all that stuff
10:14Not great. And then the next day Darren Drager who's also been in this business for a long time is very well connected
10:20Mentioning like oh like yeah good vibes there. They're making progress
10:24I still lean towards the fact that I don't think it's obviously as Don Sweeney
10:30Pushed back against on Wednesday. I don't think they're not speaking to each other. I think there is good communication. It's all about
10:37Finding that concession right and finding out how much you're willing to give in terms of the years
10:43I think it's probably the payout has to be probably the most contentious thing because even I think Freeman had a follow-up
10:49article
10:51On Wednesday or Thursday mentioning that like the Bruins and Swayman's are still looking at a long-term deal
10:57Which is I think promising and that's what we mentioned before that would be the best case scenario for the Bruins and Swayman
11:04As long as the money's right, but that's the issue if Swayman wants to be here long term
11:09You have to imagine he wants something that coincides with how the markets gonna go
11:13But again, we've talked about this time and time again
11:16Like you go down the rabbit hole as to what his value is
11:19How it weighs against the rest of the goalie market the cap all that stuff
11:23It's really really tough to map out where this is going to go
11:26But I still think when you look at like the multiple nuclear options, they're ending with December 1st
11:33You know for a guy like Swayman who again is going into such a critical year for his own development
11:38And this is a guy that is not
11:41Has always been very confident his own abilities doesn't really waiver all those things
11:46but still for a guy going into his first year as
11:49The featured number one guy the weight of the season kind of rests on your shoulders in this role
11:53I think there has to be the awareness from I think all sides that longer he holds out
11:59Doesn't benefit him and it certainly doesn't benefit the Bruins. I don't think even if the Bruins
12:0410% of their thinking is like, you know, let's roll the dice with blessing corporate solo
12:08We are confident see what they can do out of the gate and they'll hurt his leverage they play
12:13well, maybe that's the mindset you have to take once you get to
12:17October 5th or something like that, but I don't think they want to reach that scenario
12:21No
12:21Do I think Swayman wants to be on the outside looking in once the season really starts ramping up?
12:25But it just doesn't benefit anyone once you get to that point and look they're gonna say
12:30Montgomery players are gonna say we don't care about that, you know and Montgomery basically said as much
12:35You know, I'm focused on the guys that are here, you know, it's Donnie's thing to care about
12:39But at some point be it at the end of camp if this isn't done or the beginning of the regular season or you know
12:46a month into the regular season
12:49Guys do care about that stuff because as we said like if corporate solo and bussy if that tandem comes in and they're great
12:55Well, then awesome. Whoo, like the systems are working and those guys are good and we can win with anybody
13:01But if it doesn't work you got guys, you know, you got defensemen who are you know properly covering guys and let's say
13:07You know pucks are just kind of flying in left and right
13:09It's like all right, dude, like, you know, we all want you to get paid, but we also need to win hockey games
13:15Wrap this up
13:16Wrap this up and you know, like we gotta win games
13:20And so I think you have that end of it too where it's like, you know, and you know
13:24We've talked before about you know Marsh and you know
13:26We were kind of question whether or not that was a veiled shot, you know a captain's practice a couple weeks ago
13:31But you also wonder about other guys
13:32I mean other guys have gone through
13:34Negotiations before and I think you know, there could be that sentiment of and I'm saying could because I'm not you know
13:39We don't know this for sure. There could be that sentiment of like well, I did it
13:43Why can't you like you got to make concessions? You can't just get every single thing you want
13:48And I think Jeremy Swayman also has to worry about the tide turning on him
13:52Not just you know in his own locker room and stuff but fans not saying that that means everything but this is a hot market
13:58This is a you know
14:00This is fans care fans care a lot and I think that you know
14:03That is something to consider in this case. We are pro players getting the bag, by the way
14:08We're just trying to give every little element here. So I'm not trying to be like he should accept he should be underpaid
14:14Considerably, you know, he should he should take you should take no money. You should play for free. You should be lucky
14:19He's wearing the spoke B. That's what he should be doing
14:23That'll that'll get clipped and taken out of context which will be that's yeah, of course

16:23Now back to the show. So we've discussed Swayman and we've discussed the the tandem. Is there anything we're missing?
16:30I assume we're gonna talk about this a lot going forward. So I don't want to
16:33Kill everything with Swayman. No, I mean, I feel like if there are updates will
16:39Do have plenty of time to kind of dissect this as it goes on, right?
16:42So I think right now it's status quo and again all of it
16:46I come down just that one phone call when whether it's an extra million you tack on another year
16:53Something like that
16:55Sometimes that's all it takes to kind of shift the gears there. So
16:59Right now it's just the waiting game continues and the more it goes on again
17:04I'm with you Evan like a week or two maybe but every week it's going to be like the next time we do a
17:13Bruins beat or poke the bear
17:15Anxiety's gonna ramp up a little bit
17:17So and I mean think like Sweeney mentioning December 1st was a good way to you know
17:21I mentioned this with Ty Anderson. We did our podcast as well. Like Sweeney is pretty like
17:28Forward-thinking pretty calculating in terms of you know, how he you know what he says during press conferences stuff like that
17:35I think mentioning that is a good way to kind of reiterate and get ahead of like
17:39oh, there is a hard deadline like this could go further like and kind of
17:44Mapping out what the stakes could be. I don't think
17:47Hopefully we don't get to that point. I don't want to be doing a Swayman watch thing in the middle of Rambo
17:52No, please no, that would be every episode that would be horrible
17:59Yes, so not looking forward to that if that happens, so I'll be in the same boat as you
18:04I think we're looking at a week or two and hopefully this gets settled and he's back and
18:09Getting ready and getting up to speed pretty soon because they're gonna need him
18:13One other thing Sweeney mentioned and this you know
18:16This is something else that I kind of just came to mind was he was asked about Lena the Lena Solmark trade and you know
18:22Whether or not these two things were connected and he basically said that they're different roads
18:25You know, we we operated separate of each other on that
18:31Did they screw themselves a little bit with the Lena Solmark thing
18:34I still don't think they did and I again like I still think I
18:38Still think I still believe Swayman's gonna be here now if they end up trading Swayman
18:43That's a different story
18:44But you had a very limited window to trade Lena Solmark and you know
18:49Damn, well that if they went into this year with the goalie tandem still intact and passed up opportunities to trade Lena Solmark
18:56specifically for a first-round pick
18:58We would be complaining about it. Everybody we become everybody would be complaining about it
19:02So I I don't think they boxed themselves in with that, but I'm curious what you think
19:08Yeah, I mean, I think there's a lot of moving pieces with this, right?
19:11It's very easy just to generally, you know be like, oh they should have done this ahead of them
19:16You know like Michael Corleone, I'm sorry, it's Godfather referenced. I'm very sorry
19:21Yeah
19:23You know the thing this is Michael Corleone thing of in one fell swoop
19:26Yeah
19:27You sign Swayman and then trade all mark an hour later on these and it doesn't work out that way
19:32Like you've got a situation with all mark where you're trying to move him. He had a no movement clause
19:38We'll probably never get it from all mark
19:40But you hear the rumors that they were trying to move him beforehand that some trades were
19:46Negated even during leading up to the trade deadline, right?
19:49Like so it wasn't just you could have flipped him for anything. You finally have this window where he'd accept a trade to Ottawa
19:56And you know we can talk about with the return what have you but you found a trading partner that he was going to approve
20:00That deal to which was not a given
20:03You had to move him in a certain time before his the rest of his no trade
20:07Clause kicked in like you were kind of already against the clock here. And again, you look at like where the Bruins are
20:13It's not like the Bruins are
20:15Fighting with Swayman over this contract because like they only have so much cap space, right?
20:19It's not like they have like six point eight seven five million and that's as far as they can go
20:22Like they could give him nine million if they want to
20:26They probably shouldn't give him nine million. So like I can see why they're they're waiting things out here
20:31like they have the the fiscal flexibility to
20:35accommodate a deal that is
20:376.5 to 8.5 like they give themselves plenty of runway in that regard. It's just you know with
20:44How negotiators are going it's just been a bit of a grime, but I don't view it as like a
20:49failing of the Bruins in terms of like, oh they needed to line these things up like
20:53you already run a very odd schedule with
20:57Allmark and his trade protections that I just didn't see how that was gonna you weren't gonna get all that resolved in one fell swoop
21:04especially with
21:05Swayman and his agents and just the track record there that does not very rarely do a lot of his
21:11Representatives get their stuff taken care of
21:14That early in the season, you know, unless it's like a top fridge in July 1st
21:19UofA status what have you but
21:21About I wasn't expecting anything getting done with a swimming deal until at least the end of July early August
21:30So yeah, I just think the timing wise it's great to say that they should have done all that stuff ahead of time, but
21:36Actually practicing that, you know applying that in the middle of the offseason
21:40Easier said than done
21:42Yeah
21:42I just and again
21:44Like as I said if they lose both if they end up trade if they end up having to trade Swayman or something like that
21:51Then it's different, but I don't you had to trade all mark you had to and I yeah
21:56There was the case you could have traded Swayman and kept all mark and re-signed him and you'd probably you know
22:00Re-sign all mark for a little bit less than maybe Swayman will make down the road
22:05But even then like Swayman's Swayman's been your guy in the playoffs. That's the guy you keep I think we're all in agreement
22:10Something else we're all in agreement on if you want to go to a game a concert
22:15comedy, whatever theater
22:18Use game time use your brain use game time today

24:15Let's get back to the show
24:16So other things other than Swayman were happening at development camp on ice day one on Thursday
24:23One of the surprises Matt Patra playing on the wing
24:28And Matt Patra
24:30Normally was at center last year
24:32Missed time there missed the rest of the season had to have shoulder surgery a big question mark
24:38I mean a training camp and you and I talked a lot about him throughout the offseason and we always kind of put him in
24:42The center category Jim Montgomery though putting him on the wing talked about
24:46On Thursday about him playing his I think it was his 16 year or a 17 year at the wing
24:53But then he played his draft year down the middle. So he does have experience on the wing
24:57There's you know, he'll get to do a little bit more offense
25:01What what do you think of Patra on the wing?
25:04Yeah, it's interesting right because I think he's a natural center and even Montgomery mentioned
25:09They ideally long-term want to keep him there
25:11But you do wonder where there is more depth down the middle with obviously Elias Lindholm
25:17Take care of one of those spots. You've got Tyler Johnson vying for a spot even Georgie Murkulov
25:24Yes, so you have a few these other guys that are are gonna be in the running as well if
25:30Putting Patra in a top-six role or you know, even on a third line
25:33But on the wing it has him playing kind of a more simplified kind of game
25:39And you know, he's still gonna have that play-making presence still gonna have the puck on his stick a good bit there
25:45You do wonder if that's something that
25:48Loves him to kind of simplify his game and just play, you know to his strengths, right?
25:52That's something that he even mentioned of what was kind of the thing he learned
25:56Later on last year was that it's all about kind of simplifying
25:59Not trying to get kind of too caught up wait for the next play
26:02Don't to make a highlight real play every single time you have the puck on your stick
26:06and kind of the same thing with like Pavel Zakha right where I think we see how he can benefit from simplifying his game and
26:13I'd say that
26:14Potters can all sudden like be pushed to have a shot first mentality
26:17but if you can add a little bit more play-making in that spot and he's also in the running for a
26:23Spot in the lineup along with like a Fabian Lysel or something like that
26:28You know, it's something we talked about every single training camp Don Sweeney always mentions internal competition
26:34If all of a sudden Lysel who before I viewed as one of the favorites at least going into the year
26:39For that top six spot if all sudden you have a guy in Matt Potra who's already had NHL reps in his fighting that spot
26:47Probably good problem to have if you have those two guys competing with one another for a real featured spot in this lineup
26:53So that was my first thought is if you're gonna put Potra on right wing
26:58Suddenly he's another candidate for that top six second line right wing spot
27:03I mean, you know, we talked about Lysel. We've talked about Frederick. We've talked about geeky now
27:08I got Tyler Johnson and now you add Matt Potra to the mix of
27:12Here's a guy as you said who's been up here who plays a style they like and you know, Montgomery even mentioned, you know
27:19Sometimes he you lost out a little bit on that offensive ability last year because as a center you have so many
27:26Responsibilities, especially in the D zone that you you miss out. You don't you know, you don't get to produce as much offense as maybe you'd like
27:33Now you can potentially have him on the right wing and March and if memory serves liked playing with Potra last year
27:40so that's another whole thing of like
27:42You have that
27:43And again, like if you're looking at Matt Potra as you know
27:47A guy that's definitely part of your future going forward and I think we all can agree that he's at least a top six
27:53You know center when push comes to shove down the road
27:57You know if that's the case who better to put him with than a guy like Marshan and coil like
28:04That's that makes a lot of sense if it works now again
28:07They might move Potter back to the middle at some point throughout camp
28:10It's not set in stone, obviously, and I think you want Patra as a center of the future down the road
28:17But letting him kind of spread his wings offensively is not a bad idea
28:21on the wing
28:23You know
28:24Sweeney mentioned it yesterday with Lysel like Lysel is not gonna be on the fourth line because it's on his game
28:30But you know anywhere in the top nine works. So maybe that's slots Lysel down as more of a third line candidate. It's day one
28:37We don't know lots can change but I do think Patra playing on the wing
28:43Offers up a lot now on the third line. I think he also brings a lot there, too
28:47You know if he's with a guy like geeky Max Jones, Justin Brezow
28:51Trent Frederick, whoever it is
28:53I do think you get you know
28:55You're gonna still get a good amount from him or at least you should get a good amount from him
29:00In terms of other things in the lines now again, it was two groups. Yeah, and I'll be that way on Friday as well
29:08They kind of mix up the players
29:10Different group different guys in different groups and you know
29:13You had Trent Frederick in one group and in Morgan geeky and guys another but one line I found interesting
29:19Was Jones geeky and Brezo as a potential third line
29:24I'm curious what you thought of them and and if you thought any other lines were interesting
29:29Yeah, definitely a really interesting line and it's fascinating because they do have so many guys that could mix and match in those spots
29:35Cuz you mentioned that line and like you you look at them, you know, you're saying
29:39All right, that could be a good third line. But then you have like the fourth, I guess the you know
29:44Established fourth line of what it could be. You had like Beecher
29:48Castilek and Riley Duran which a lot to like about that group as well, right and I think you
29:53Probably right now like the favorite in terms of like the three guys on the fourth line on October 8th are probably
30:00Beecher
30:01Castilek and Jones, I would probably say the three guys right in the running there
30:05But like the fact that Duran's already mixed in there is promising
30:09You've got I think it's just a fact that again. It is the first day of on ice skating
30:16You've got
30:18You know this point of camp a lot of stuff can be mixed around but you you're having I think an early glimpse of what?
30:24Some of these lines could be whether it's you know, right out of the gate. You've got Zaka Elias Lindholm David Pasternak
30:30You have McAvoy was a door of to Montgomery City like both of those groups
30:36You've got Charlie Coyle with Fabian Lysel which is something we've mentioned right of like if you want to see what Fabian Lysel has
30:43Put him in some established NHL talent what he can do there
30:48You have Georgie Murkulov down the middle on a line
30:51I think Montgomery said he liked kind of that it was kind of there's like him Letary and
30:58Capke I think it was like that. He mentioned that was a line that he liked as well
31:03You've got a lot of guys that are in spots where
31:08if that is how they want to stick with these groupings for at least the first week or so and
31:13Preseason game or two a lot to like about work, you know
31:15Whether it's a glimpse of what we should expect to be the case on October 8th with like that top line
31:22You had the usual suspects on defense, right? You have Laura I with peak you had Lintelman Carlo together
31:29But I think when you're putting some of these other guys in roles where they could succeed with Lysel Potra with Frederick, I believe
31:36There's a lot to like it, but I think even though we're at this stage of camp
31:40It's good to start building that chemistry and I think it's good to see a lot of these younger players. They're not with
31:47the guys that we know are gonna be in Providence like I'm not gonna just
31:50Rattle off names and you know do that in terms of being disrespectful of guys
31:55We know we're gonna start the in Providence, but like it's good to see these guys that they want to give an opportunity to all
32:01right, let's see how you do with
32:02Charlie Coyle or Frederick or are the guys that we know where they're gonna be in October 8th
32:07But can these younger players?
32:09Kind of fight for their spot as well with the talent around them and that's kind of really encouraging to see out of the gate
32:14I think it helps that Marsh ends out for those guys where guys are playing up a little bit
32:20You know, maybe like a Max Jones would be more on a fourth line at camp and instead is on a third
32:25But he also could be a third line guy
32:27Like that's the other thing is like we talked about it over the offseason sort of that untapped
32:31Potential and a guy like Max Jones
32:34Some other interesting stuff, you know that first line who you know, they believe is gonna be that first line of Zaka
32:41Lindholm and Pasternak
32:42and then you also had
32:45Fabian Lysel
32:47Charlie Coyle and Tyler Johnson, which again again Marsh ends out. So those two guys
32:51I mean if you want to look into that
32:54Maybe those are the two guys who right now are the favorites for that top six right wing spot
33:00You know Johnson's an interesting case. We talked to him today
33:03Always usually, you know went against the Bruins many a time when he was the Tampa Bay Lightning
33:09And I think working with Lysel, you know, I think you know
33:12You're sort of hoping you Lysel can give you the consistency of a Tyler Johnson in the past
33:17So I also think that's interesting to where it's like you're it's not like Tyler Johnson's playing on a potential fourth line in camp
33:24He they have higher expectations for him
33:26And I think you know
33:27He'll make this team if he can prove that he can be a middle six guy
33:31Whereas if he can't do preseason games then, you know
33:35But it also we also made it kind of sound to me at least like they wanted him
33:39If in free agency just couldn't really put together the right deal and then you know because he was a PTO
33:46They picked him right up. So there's that end of it to where he he feels like a little bit better than like your typical PTO
33:52Right. Yeah. No, and again, maybe it depends on whatever the swim and contract is
33:56Maybe it's something like that where once you get the remaining big piece of what your cap space is
34:02Allocated then maybe you then circle back. But again, it also falls on what Johnson can provide right?
34:08like he's still a guy that
34:10Said today still thinks he's a good player things. He can kind of contribute playing down the middle playing at wing
34:15The Bruins have had a lot of success with these PTO candidates in the past
34:19how he does on a
34:21Maybe lesser role
34:23Where he's not gonna be getting, you know power play one reps like he did in Chicago on a very bad Blackhawks team
34:30Shout out Nick Felino, by the way new captain
34:32Well-deserved a guy that has been a well-respected guy in a room for many teams for a long long time
34:38So it's great. I think for that team with the way they're rebuilding. I'm having a like Felino
34:44Leading the charge a great decision by them
34:47But I just think you look at Johnson like he's a guy that
34:51Yeah
34:51If he shows you still something left in the tank would not surprise me if whenever the Bruins get the Swainman contract settled
34:58They they circle back and see what how much money they have left
35:01But again as we keep on saying when you get to this time of year also falls on the player to kind of prove their
35:07Value, so let's see what you can do. Once these preseason games get started this weekend, which is crazy
35:13Sunday no Patriots Patriots are Thursday night. So Sunday instead of football
35:19You can sit back and watch some preseason hockey baby. Tis the season
