00:00Morning, another cracking day for some parts of the UK.
00:04For others, the cracking is more likely to come from thunderstorms.
00:08Yes, we are seeing a change in our weather patterns.
00:11For most, though, it's a similar morning to recent mornings.
00:14A lot of cloud out there, some sunshine in West Wales,
00:17Western Scotland, where it will be another fine day.
00:19The cloud will break up for many across the south,
00:22but it's here where we're likely to see a bit of sunshine
00:25sparking some heavy, even thundery showers.
00:28Now, parts of northeast England, eastern Scotland,
00:31likely to stay fairly glum.
00:32So the cloud may not break here at all.
00:34It'll be pretty cool on some of these North Sea coasts also.
00:38But in Western Scotland, temperatures again up to 19,
00:41maybe 20 Celsius.
00:42In the south, too, it will be quite warm again,
00:44maybe not quite as warm as yesterday.
00:46There will still be a brisk breeze blowing here,
00:49but there will also be the thundery showers.
00:52Now, the very nature of thunderstorms
00:53is that they are hit and miss.
00:54So not everywhere in this warning area
00:57will catch a downpour.
00:58But where they do occur, they could cause some problems.
01:01A lot of spray, a lot of surface water on the roads.
01:03So bear that in mind if you're travelling this evening.
01:06Parts of the M4 and the M5 especially,
01:08hailstones and a lot of lightning
01:11expected from these storms through the day today as well.
01:13Likely to linger into the evening
01:16as these thundery showers continue
01:18over parts of Wales, the Midlands and southern England
01:20before fading overnight.
01:23Then we'll see most places having a dry night.
01:25But the cloud remains pretty thick
01:27across northeast England, eastern Scotland.
01:29Likely to thicken up again and bring
01:31some drizzly conditions here, particularly
01:33over coasts and hills.
01:34Western Scotland, again, staying largely fine and largely clear.
01:37And that's where we'll see temperatures
01:39down to single digits.
01:40Elsewhere, a pretty warm night for the time of year.
01:43Temperatures in urban areas staying at 14 or 15.
01:46Now, the thunderstorms from today will fade overnight.
01:49But notice by dawn tomorrow, more of them
01:52are starting to push up from France.
01:54And again, tomorrow in the south,
01:57the potential for further problems.
01:58Heavy thundery showers breaking out
02:01across parts of southern England, the Midlands and Wales.
02:04Again, they'll be hit and miss.
02:06Not everywhere catching a downpour.
02:07But again, where they do occur, likely to cause some issues.
02:11Further north, it's a similar story.
02:13That easterly breeze keeping the cloudy conditions
02:15for eastern Scotland, northeast England.
02:17Some light drizzle here and there, but many places dry.
02:20And again, western Scotland favoured for the sunnier
02:23skies on Saturday.
02:25And temperatures here, 17, 18, maybe 19 degrees
02:28further south.
02:28Again, likely to get up into the 20s when the sun comes out.
02:32But there will be those downpours around.
02:34And that east coast staying cooler, 15 or 16
02:37for some at best.
02:39Again, we have a Met Office yellow thunderstorm warning
02:42in place covering a large part of England and Wales.
02:46Yet again, it's a thunderstorm warning.
02:48So the nature of thunderstorms, they're
02:49going to be hit and miss.
02:51One place catches a downpour five miles away.
02:53It is dry.
02:53But in this zone, there is the risk of further disruption
02:57on Saturday from flooding.
03:00And again, a lot of surface water and spray on the road.
03:02So do keep up to date with the forecast.
03:05Those warnings are constantly being monitored.
