00:00Sunday Night Football in Houston, Texas. For the first time in nearly a half decade, the Texans playing host to a primetime game to end out a Sunday slate, which should tell us a few things. Houston now the expected favorites to win an AFC South championship as they did a season ago. Coming from nowhere, but now the weight of expectation. How would Houston answer with second overall pick from Texas?
00:30And a guy who is hoping he can do the same in the Windy City for the Bears, Caleb Williams. Well, the rook is taking his lumps to begin and CJ Stroud remains as consistent and effective as always 19 to 13, the win for the Texans.
00:59It wasn't a pretty offensive game necessarily on either side, but Houston does enough line closed at six and a half in favor of the Texans. So Chicago does get a win. I would say the only blemish DRS for the Texans with CJ Stroud.
01:16Now that they have the expectations and they're going to be booked as a favorite often this season. They're just three and seven against the number as a favorite under Stroud. Chicago does get a cover for a second consecutive week.
01:29But the sword story is not CJ. It's the Bears offensive line and it's the rookie Caleb Williams 23 of 37 for a hundred and seventy-four yards last night. Not a touchdown still in two interceptions. He was sacked seven times seven times the Bears have some offensive line concerns and questions that need to be addressed.
01:53You're right about that and it does start with the offensive line and typically let me know if you've heard that before you went in the trenches. You win football games week. Number one. They got lucky. They were atrocious. We're talking about the Bears on offense week. Number two. It wasn't much better. You point out the seven sacks here, which is a terrible indicator of number one rookie quarterback holding the football too long and an offensive line that just can't block anybody.
02:12But also Caleb Williams ran five times for 44 yards. So take that out of the equation. That's not really offensive line work. Quite frankly, that means your offensive line is completely breaking down because your quarterback has to run any guts at seven times. But Ben, take a look at the running back position. Swift 14 carries for 18 yards. Homer one for six. Khalil Herbert two for three. That's atrocious football. So now the offensive line can't pass block. They can't run block either. That's a recipe for disaster. And I understand one of your better wide receiver was not playing last night in Keenan Allen, but there's no excuse for the first two weeks of the season.
02:42When we were looking at optimistically for the Bears, and I told you this many times, sometimes CJ Stroud's last year is going to cloud a lot of visions on what a rookie quarterback is supposed to do. That's the anomaly. That's not supposed to happen. But I still do think Caleb Williams will have a solid rookie season. It's just gotten off to a rocky start, and they're lucky that the Bears are one and one right now because a lot more people will be turning that title.
03:02Caleb Williams said, hey, look, get in the weight room, get in the film room, get in the practice field, and work things out. But here's also what I want to take a look at. Sometimes I want to knock the Houston Texans for only scoring 19 points. Now, they were up 19 to 10, fourth quarter, running it in, first and goal from the five, fumbled the football. Now that Bears field goal, so the game got a little bit tighter. But D'Amico Ryan's understanding the points of the game, which sometimes the analytical machines are broken, which he should have gone for a couple, but if you're a coach and you understand, I know this team can't score on this.
03:29Let's just keep tacking on points. I don't mind that here. The Titans could have scored probably 35 points last night with that offense, but no, just don't make those bad decisions. Those don't turn the football over and we'll win this game, and they did. They're 2-0. I love everything that I see from the Texans, offensively and defensively this season.
