We spoke with two of the many establishments that are taking part in restaurant week.
Transcript
00:00We're at These Things Happen on Roker Seafront.
00:03Our business is at 6AP a point at Roker, right on the beach.
00:09I think it brings something different to the seafront.
00:12A good drink and live music culture.
00:17And now we're working on, with me just coming on board,
00:20looking at the produce we serve, the menus we serve,
00:24and the private dining area upstairs.
00:26There was a legend that there were six fishermen
00:30used to look after the mouth of the river.
00:32So that was, and we are in SR6, so it all sort of tied in together.
00:39We take great pride in what we serve.
00:41We use the freshest of ingredients, seafood, local cheeses,
00:46charcuterie and fresh vegetables.
00:49We try to keep local wherever possible.
00:53We really promote people to share food,
00:56because I think that's what people love to do.
00:59Our location is amazing.
01:02I think every business has to get involved with Restaurant Week.
01:07It's a fantastic marketing tool.
01:09It brings you footfall that you wouldn't ordinarily see on a daily basis.
01:13For example, you have people that would come in and eat
01:16that ordinarily wouldn't eat in your establishment.
01:19I think it gives them an opportunity to widen their horizons
01:25around food and drink that's going on in the city,
01:28and hopefully return custom.
01:31I just think Restaurant Week brings people together.
01:34It gives the chance for a restaurant to kind of give people
01:39a little taste of what they do.
01:43I think it just is a reason for people to come out
01:47and enjoy good food, nice drinks and good company.
01:51I think using Restaurant Week as a tool to kind of spread the message
01:55of what we're currently doing and what we want to achieve is fantastic.
