Hannah Einbinder’s glam routine is all about achieving “gorg, natural diva” vibes. Get ready with the ‘Hacks’ star as she prepares for the Emmys with an elevated version of her signature look. From sunburn-inspired blush to tightlined eyeliner, Hannah is quizzed on how well she knows her tailored glam routine. With her lips matching her dress in a soft, dusty rose, Hannah and her team reveal their color selection process—if a color doesn’t naturally come from her body, they don’t choose it (their words, not ours). Watch as Hannah embraces her role as the redhead for the job in her Louis Vuitton gown, which she describes as a piece of art reminiscent of a Greek statue.

00:00What is the first thing that I usually do
00:02when I do your makeup?
00:04Okay, you will stand at a great distance
00:07and contort your body, squint one eye,
00:10and sort of suss out the situation.
00:14Hi, I'm Hannah Einbinder.
00:15We're here in Los Angeles, California
00:17getting ready for the Emmy Awards.
00:22I think all of the things that we do in glam
00:24are just really like chic, minimal, pretty,
00:27simple, gorgeous.
00:29Is the vibe.
00:32I feel like the look we're doing today
00:34speaks to kind of like a slightly elevated version
00:38of kind of the things that we've been doing
00:40throughout the press tour for Hacks
00:42and like kind of this year.
00:43First position.
00:44First position is sort of what we call it, right?
00:47Where it's just like sort of a straight look,
00:49maybe a little kick somewhere,
00:50whether that's here or here at the bottom.
00:52Just like a gorge, natural diva.
01:00I would say my favorite part of all of the whole event
01:04of press, of a red carpet, is glam.
01:08Is getting ready for the event
01:09just so that we can all kind of kiki and talk and hang.
01:14We three are neurodivergent and queer,
01:18so we talk a lot.
01:20We're popcorn.
01:21We really are.
01:25We always like a natural lip color.
01:27If it's a color that doesn't like live
01:29from inside of her body,
01:31we typically never choose it.
01:33Tonight we're just gonna go with
01:35a really soft dusty rose match to the dress
01:38that really does just kind of look like her lip color,
01:41but better.
01:42Yeah, when the Lord made me,
01:45his paintbrush ran out on various points of my lip,
01:48so I have, I lack pigment in some areas,
01:50so we try to sort of revitalize that.
01:53And since Hannah's so fair,
01:54too much lip, too much color.
01:57I'll look like Lucille Ball in five seconds.
01:59Five seconds.
01:59You don't wanna see that.
02:01She's fabulous.
02:02She's great.
02:04Ginger queen.
02:04You know what I mean.
02:07Right now we're doing eyes.
02:09This is a pretty typical color for us
02:12that Molly is using here.
02:13It's just like this incredibly soft, ashy, light brown.
02:19It's gonna be like her contour color.
02:22It's so light.
02:23Just we're creating dimension.
02:24We're not putting on eyeshadow so much.
02:27Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:28Because again, so much makeup on her can be so heavy,
02:34so we really just wanna build kind of structure,
02:37pushing light forward and back,
02:39so it just looks like her, but better.
02:42And you wanna just get some solo haircut time?
02:45Yeah, we usually go in and decide if it's straight
02:47or if it's curly,
02:48and then I adjust the products accordingly.
02:51We did a version of it today
02:52where we pin curl, clip her hair, dry it in,
02:55and then kind of either make it more wavy or more straight.
03:00Pop quiz.
03:01What is the first thing that I usually do
03:03when I do your makeup?
03:05Okay.
03:05You will stand at a great distance and contort your body,
03:10squint one eye, and sort of suss out the situation,
03:14and then after that has sort of commenced,
03:17you will take a wet beauty blender,
03:19just clear off whatever product
03:21is potentially there, my sunscreen probably.
03:23Next question.
03:24Okay.
03:25How do we do your?
03:26Wait, can I get extra time?
03:27I have ADHD.
03:28I mean, go team.
03:30How do I do your brows?
03:32Oh, yeah, so there are a couple different methods.
03:36One is that Benefit three-pronged marker pen.
03:42The brow pen.
03:44And then sometimes you'll use
03:47the Dior Very Fine Point Pencil
03:50to create the individual lines,
03:53and then sometimes there is a gel at play,
03:55sort of a tinted gel, if you will.
03:57Eyeliner, how do we do your eyeliner?
03:59On the inside of the upper lid.
04:02We call that tight lining.
04:04We tight line it.
04:05We do it with brown,
04:06because brown is the color that comes from her body.
04:08That's right, brown.
04:10Okay, our favorite topic, blush.
04:13Yep.
04:14How do we do your blush?
04:15Well, we do sort of a, we mock a sunburn.
04:17You know what I mean?
04:18The sun would hit the face all the way over here,
04:21so it goes kind of across,
04:22over the valley on the other side.
04:25I like to do a little cream and powder.
04:28That's right.
04:29In kind of reds and tattoo pinks.
04:32It really is such a nice, healthy, youthful placement.
04:36What's our favorite lip combo that we like to do?
04:39I think our favorite lip combo
04:42is like a brown liner
04:45with sort of like a bricky, nude-ish, like natural.
04:51Molly typically, in her own words,
04:53sends me out with a swipe of Chapstick and a high five.
04:57What typically is the last thing I do?
04:59You powder me down, because I'm an oily girl.
05:03Okay, guys, glam is done.
05:05Let's get into the look.
05:07I am wearing Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Gaskier.
05:12There's an incredible drapery happening,
05:15but it is made out of this almost like rubberish material.
05:20It almost looks like his take on
05:23the way that you would see a Greek statue.
05:27It's like a piece of art, honestly.
05:30I think I'm like the redhead for the job, you know?
05:33Thanks for getting ready with me, Elle.
05:35See you at the Emmys.
05:36Bye!
05:37Hi, how's it going?
05:41Hi!
05:42How'd you walk, man?
