Farringdon Community Academy principal Jordan Bedford discusses improvements at the school following its "best ever" GCSE results.
Transcript
00:00Okay, and those are big improvement results in the summer, so just give me a few headline
00:04figures please.
00:05Of course, so 74% of children passed at a 4 plus in English and Maths, 57% of children
00:11passed at a 5 plus in English and Maths.
00:14Last year we were 40% 5 plus, and last year we were also 55% 4 plus, so we've seen significant
00:23improvements in the crossover measure on English and Maths.
00:27We've also seen a significant shift in our progress score, last year we achieved a score
00:32of negative 1.17, which isn't good enough, that needed to change, we're now forecasting
00:37a progress score of zero, but with the remarks that are in, we think that may have now moved
00:42to a positive figure.
00:43And being a new school building, that going to improve things even further do you think?
00:47Absolutely, the new build allows us to push teaching and learning to another level, it
00:51allows students to be in an environment that's really culturally good for them, and now they
00:55know the results are here, they feel a deep sense of pride in coming to Farringdon and
00:59I think it will continue to improve our results year on year.
