00:00Following the departure of BRP Tereza Magbanwa to Escoda Shoal, more than 60 ships of China were spotted in the area.
00:07When the Armed Forces of the Philippines confirmed, it does not mean that China has already controlled Escoda Shoal.
00:13They continue to guard the entire West Philippine Sea.
00:16First news is from Chino Gaston.
00:18A few days after the departure of BRP Tereza Magbanwa to Escoda Shoal, 65 Chinese vessels were monitored by the Philippine Navy in Bahurang, more than 70 nautical miles from Palawan.
00:34Some of these are Chinese Coast Guard ships, 4 are ships of the Chinese Navy, and 52 are Chinese militia vessels.
00:42But it does not mean that China has already controlled Escoda Shoal, which is inside the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines.
00:50The Philippine Navy, the AFP will continue performing its mandate. We will continue monitoring all our features in the West Philippine Sea.
00:57There has been no marked increase in the pile-up of crash corals. We have not monitored any man-made activity.
01:05But according to a security analyst, the situation is more dangerous now compared to the standoff in Bajo de Masinloc in 2012.
01:14That's why the government should be careful.
01:17First of all, this is closer to Palawan. Of course, we have greater capabilities to engage the Chinese in the standoff.
01:25The Coast Guard now has more ships. We have to support our treaty allies.
01:29But at the same time, the Chinese have already their own Coast Guard, and it's supported by the Chinese Maritime Militia, the De-Conservation Army Navy.
01:39The AFP continues to monitor using patrol ships, airplanes, and satellites of allied countries in the entire West Philippine Sea.
01:47We assure the Filipino people that the entire leadership of the AFP is doing its best to protect and secure all our features in the Exclusive Economic Zone,
01:58most especially in the West Philippine Sea.
02:01In a social media post by security analyst Ray Powell, 11 Chinese militia ships and two Chinese Coast Guard vessels are in Escoda according to the Automatic Identification System or AIS.
02:13According to Powell, the other ships are not visible here. The AIS killed them.
02:20A lot of Chinese ships in Escoda will be in front of a PCG ship that was replaced by BRP Teresa Magbanua and sent there according to the National Maritime Council.
02:31This is the first news. Chino Gaston for GMA Integrated News.
