Transcript
00:00This story begins as a narration of the protagonist Charles Bronson,
00:03a natural phenomenon that changes the scene from childhood and youth to adulthood,
00:08narrating them as if they were in front of a live audience.
00:11There are excerpts where he talks about the camera with bipolar characteristics
00:15and moments in which it only bores the audience, almost without expression.
00:19He comments that he has always wanted to be known, knowing that he was created for better things,
00:23even though the audience does not react to his words.
00:26There is also a sequence in which Bronson is shown in a badly wounded bandage
00:30while violently treating the guards, which indicates his aggressive attitude.
00:34Even in this disturbing scene, Bronson's character laughs loudly,
00:38to later show a credit card that says that this film is based on the truth of that story.
00:44He comments that there was nothing wrong with his mind while he was a baby,
00:47but as a child he already started to steal, and that is something that would anger his colleagues from the class,
00:52and often argued, and in arguments he would always win.
00:56He even beat one teacher, hitting him with a table because of anger.
00:59Bronson had arguments at school, which always ended with his mother calling him,
01:04but she ignored his arguments.
01:06He explains that although he was always a violent child, he was not so bad,
01:10because he always had his own rules.
01:12He got his first job in a restaurant, but he knew very well that no one was around.
01:17However, he gladly shared his earnings with a colleague he had feelings for.
01:20Bronson claims that he was born under the name of Michael Petterson,
01:24but he was later changed by his well-known alter ego, Charlie Bronson.
01:28The authorities tried to detain him during his youth, but Bronson would return him to the police.
01:33In one of the arguments, he even goes so far as to open the police's ear.
01:37In 1974, in England, he and his former partner, Irene,
01:41moved into a couple in a cheap house after they had a baby.
01:45It seems that Bronson enjoyed, or at least tolerated, his new family life.
01:49After a few thefts and rapes in the mail, Bronson was sentenced to seven years in prison,
01:54and his mother hopes that this time will be reduced to maybe four years.
01:58Bronson is behind her in front of his wife, who will never see him again.
02:02Contrary to what many think, Bronson at first goes straight to prison,
02:06but he immediately laughs as a narrator,
02:08now playing the role of a clown in a disguise,
02:11and saying that he has always imagined himself as a comedian.
02:14For him, the cell was like a hotel room, where he walked in circles through an empty space,
02:19cut off from the world every 365 days of the year.
02:22He has an episode of anger while refusing to do his sewing job,
02:26which is why many guards beat him up.
02:28Bronson's behavior during the prison service made him quite popular among other prisoners,
02:34but he also had a rougher encounter with the guards,
02:36which gave him new jobs like serving tea, which he did pretty well.
02:41While serving, the prisoner gives him a compliment,
02:44his jokes, and for the first time someone says something nice about him.
02:47This comment leaves him in awe.
02:50Bronson calls himself the most violent prisoner in Britain,
02:53considering prison to be the perfect place for him.
02:56He shows newspaper articles that show Bronson as a madman out of control,
03:00and as a glorious prisoner he wants to become.
03:03The only thing he didn't like was the constant change of prison,
03:06recalling his stay in Parkhurst, where he lived just like a king,
03:10even with his constant conflicts with the guards.
03:13He enjoys his new way of life,
03:15so that he can end up in a mental sanatorium called the Funny Farm,
03:19a place where people cover their faces with a blanket,
03:22and where he needs four men to control him.
03:24During his stay, Bronson plays the role of a mental patient very well,
03:28and is subjected to forced medical treatments,
03:31which leave him under sedatives most of the time.
03:33During recreation, one of the patients tries to talk to Bronson about his pedophilic outbursts,
03:39but Bronson can only growl and spit as a sign of rejection.
03:44He makes a few attempts to escape in a confused state,
03:47which humiliates him and leaves him incapable, so he can't even walk normally.
03:52One of them was during a night out, on which he barely walks,
03:55and when he moves, a member of his gang tells him to come back with the others,
03:59while Bronson can't do anything about it.
04:01Faced with his confusion about the magnitude, Bronson has an idea,
04:04and that is to kill one of the patients of the clinic in order to return to prison.
04:09Otherwise, they are lunatics, and he chooses the pedophile who talked to him earlier.
04:14This attempt fails, but he manages to give them 26 years of a woman
04:18who he considers unfair because he has never killed anyone in his life.
04:22He does this as a seductive performance,
04:24explaining that he did not receive a trial for this prejudice.
04:27On the screen, Bronson shows a scene of a protest on a cow he made in the city
04:32and explains that the system cost tens of millions of pounds in damages,
04:35and now he considers himself the most expensive prisoner in Britain.
04:39After these riots, he is declared mentally healthy and released,
04:43and he wants to know what the world offers him.
04:46His last meeting in prison was to get his things back,
04:49which are a watch, a leather card holder, and a comb,
04:52and the last joke was about Bronson's baldness.
04:56He met his parents again, who moved to a new house,
04:59and showed him where he will sleep now.
05:02Bronson finds out that many things from his childhood
05:04have remained in his old residence in Luton.
05:08Bronson talks about his lover Jack as he knows everything,
05:11so he could help him get his things back.
05:14Bronson travels to Luton, where he meets his luxurious lover Jack,
05:17who runs a brothel where he is greeted as an exotic figure.
05:21There, all the ladies approach Bronson and offer him a cocktail.
05:24There was also a well-known figure from Bronson's life in Luton,
05:27a former prisoner who praised Bronson's hair while serving tea.
05:31This guy offers Bronson a job that requires a new artistic name.
05:35After his name was shortened to Charlton Heston,
05:38his partner offers Bronson a job as an American actor,
05:41which he accepts.
05:42Now Bronson looks like an exotic dancer on a pole,
05:45and in the end he cries because it is the first time he has seen a naked woman in several years.
05:49One morning he talks to a girl named Allison,
05:52who works with his lover.
05:54She praises his curls and muscles, and kisses him passionately.
05:57Bronson allows it and then makes her his lover.
06:01His new job consists of fighting on farms and with small people.
06:05He wins without much effort,
06:07sometimes by indulging in swearing like urinating on the opponent.
06:10Despite the fact that he does not have such a big initial pay,
06:13Bronson decides to continue.
06:15He even fights several opponents at once and defeats them for the fun of other people.
06:19He comes to the point where he defeats the dog with his bare hands.
06:22One day, Bronson confesses to Allison that he loves her while she reads,
06:25but she confesses that she loves Brian,
06:27her boyfriend who has a motorcycle.
06:29For Christmas, Bronson robs a goldsmith and takes Allison's ring.
06:33She warns the seller, and after the robbery,
06:35the frightened seller says not to call the police for about 15 minutes.
06:40Allison is in front of him and tells him that she does not love him,
06:42because he has no ambition,
06:44and then Bronson offers her the ring.
06:46Unfortunately, she says that she will go for Brian,
06:49leaving Bronson with a broken heart,
06:51but she still congratulates him.
06:53Later, she tells the audience that the robber actually called the police 15 minutes later,
06:58so Bronson will probably return to prison after 69 days in prison.
07:03When asked what he did during those 69 days,
07:06Bronson replies that he built a kingdom,
07:08which the prison manager considers a stupid answer.
07:11Returning to the cell,
07:12librarian Andy Love leaves Bronson something to read,
07:15but Bronson locks the door and calls the other guards,
07:18because he has a new slave,
07:20whom he threatens with a whip and a dog.
07:22Knowing that he will go to save the slave,
07:24Bronson begs Andy to help him cover his naked body with vaseline
07:28to make it easier to deal with those who come for him.
07:31However, Bronson did not survive everything.
07:33He was badly wounded and transferred to a new cell,
07:36and now he has a sprain.
07:37The prison manager tells him that he will die if he continues with his attitude.
07:41After a few words of praise from Mr. Daniels,
07:44his art teacher, who also teaches Spanish art students,
07:48Bronson enjoys drawing, especially in bird figures.
07:52The teacher tells him to find the missing part,
07:55that is, the one that does not belong there.
07:57The animated sequence shows a little of Bronson's confused thoughts
08:01until he talks to the prison manager,
08:03who wishes him success in the new artistic field,
08:05although it seems that Bronson does not accept it in a good way.
08:09Thanking Mr. Daniels,
08:11Bronson reluctantly gives a sample of his work to the governor.
08:14His teacher talks about new projects,
08:16but due to a lack of communication,
08:18Bronson finally attacks him from behind,
08:20believing that Mr. Daniels wanted to use his talent.
08:23After that, the audience cheers for Bronson on the stage,
08:26but he leaves the place after a few seconds.
08:29Bronson is afraid in a black art room,
08:31after attacking his art teacher,
08:33he pretends to the guards that he will kill Mr. Daniels,
08:36and when the prison manager asks him what he wants out of the room,
08:39Bronson answers that he wants music.
08:41He keeps his teacher tied up and covered under a blanket
08:44while he plays classical music outside.
08:46Now he is busy making handcrafts and painting Mr. Daniels' face,
08:51but after a few moments,
08:53Bronson thinks that he has finished his artistic work,
08:55so he tells the guards that they can come in and save his artist.
08:58He is prepared for direct combat.
09:00Although Bronson is fighting,
09:02the guards eventually control him until he falls to the ground.
09:05The text on the screen shows that the real Charles Bronson
09:08has been in prison for 34 years,
09:10of which 30 years in a cell without a release date.
09:13Bloody Bronson is shown inside a small cage
09:16that he is not allowed to sit in,
09:18and he makes sounds of pain.
09:20A couple of guards close the door,
09:22which will give Bronson a last breath of fresh air
09:25before he leaves him alone.
