00:00Watch as this black bear takes a casual stroll along a popular lake shoreline.
00:04This surprising moment happened in South Lake Tahoe, where a black bear wandered along the
00:09shoreline, paying little attention to beachgoers. Bears in the Tahoe Basin, especially those with
00:15access to human food, can weigh a quarter of a ton, double the size of a bear on a natural diet.
00:21After its beach stroll, the bear didn't stop there. It waded into the water,
00:25taking a refreshing swim near the pier. Though black bears typically avoid people,
00:30those accustomed to human presence may tolerate close proximity.
00:34The bear did not seem to be bothered by the people nearby,
00:37but wildlife ecologists say this type of behavior is very unusual.
