00:00Hello and welcome to the Answer Room, the quiz where we're so generous, we give all
00:16our players a 50-50 chance on every question. It's as simple as that, and here is how it
00:21works. Every question has two possible answers. In this example, we've got James Bond and
00:26James Blunt. Questions will make their way down the run, and our players just have to
00:31swipe whichever way they think. So we've got Release the Song, You're Beautiful, I'm pretty
00:36sure that's James Blunt, and I win the value of that question. If, however, I got one wrong,
00:41Married Tracy DiVincenzo, James Blunt, I got it wrong, so I lose that same amount of money,
00:48and it's as simple as that. Let's meet the teams taking on the Answer Run today.
00:53I'm Mike, this is Kyle, we're from Manchester. I'm Kate, this is Adam, and we're from Suffolk.
00:59I'm Andy, and this is Lynn, and we're from Northern Ireland.
01:03Welcome everybody, welcome to the show. How are you feeling? Great. Great stuff. Excited? Nervous?
01:10Yes. Fair enough. And who's this, Lynn? This is Edna, she's my hearing dog. I have a late-onset
01:16hearing loss, so Edna alerts me to the doorbell, cooker timer, alarm clock, fire alarm. Fantastic.
01:23So placid as well, just chilled. She knows I've got treats in my pocket. Fair enough,
01:28that's how they treat me at this job as well, to be fair. Well, look, we're going to get to know
01:32you all as we play the show, but right now, let's find out who's going to be first to take on the
01:38Answer Run. Here's your qualifier question. Fingers on buzzers. The biggest-selling song
01:44in the UK in 2023 was Flowers by which... Kate and Adam? Miley Cyrus. Miley Cyrus, of course it was.
01:51Come on down and let's play the Answer Run.
02:00So welcome to the Answer Run, Kate and Adam, how do you know each other? We're twins. You're twins,
02:05okay, so you've known each other a while. Quite a while. Yeah, fair enough. And how old are you?
02:0929. 29 twins and you're still best pals? Yep, just about. Just about, that's good. I've got
02:16twin daughters myself, so she's giving me life goals here, so we're still pals. What do you both
02:21do? I'm a nurse. I'm a web developer. What sort of nurse are you, Kate? I'm a tissue viability
02:26nurse specialist. All right, tell me a bit about that. So it's very complicated, we look after
02:31complex wounds, pressure ulcers, and we also help to educate the general public, the patients,
02:36and also the staff members on how to look after. Wow, proper stuff there then, wow. The gorier,
02:41the better. A bit gorier, okay, fair enough. So have you got any interests away from work?
02:48So I like to crochet blankets for my friends. This jumper's not one of yours? No, it's not,
02:52but I have started a cardigan because I've got fed up of doing all the baby blankets.
02:56Okay, fair enough. Adam, have you got any special interests that might help you in a quiz?
03:00I like to travel, so I'm quite good at geography, like flags, capital cities, that sort of stuff.
03:04Flags comes up an awful lot, people get really into flags. My brother's a bit of an obsessive
03:08on the flags. Lovely stuff. Now you have got first choice of categories, and they are...
03:16We've got Lincoln, Washington, Mercury, Apollo, Lion, Tiger. I'd say my best one would be Lion
03:22and Tiger. Should we do Lion and Tiger? I don't really know Lincoln, Washington, that's probably
03:26going to be... I mean, they're presidents, but yeah, mainly presidents. Well, they're presidents,
03:30they're also places, of course, very different places. Mercury and Apollo. I mean, we could do
03:34Lincoln, Washington, but Lion, Tiger is probably the best, the more broader thing for us to play
03:38with, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah, we'll do that. Okay, so we're going to go for Lion and Tiger. Let's
03:43prep the answer up. You're going to swipe left for Lion and right for Tiger. Now, the questions come
03:50out in a random order with different amounts. Obviously, the harder the question, the more it
03:54is worth. If the question reaches the bottom of the answer run before you give me an answer,
03:58that will count as an incorrect answer and you'll lose that money off your total. You've got 15
04:03questions, you've got 90 seconds. We'll put a clock up for the viewers at home. Your time starts now.
04:101968 Judith Carr story about an animal that came to tea. The tiger that came to tea, of course.
04:17The Feet in the title of a 1974 number one single by Mud. Oh my word, I have no idea. Lion? Should we go Lion?
04:23Let's give it a go. Tiger Feet. Oh, of course. Richard Parker in the novel The Life of Pi. It's a tiger, isn't it?
04:31On the boat? Yeah, tiger, that's right, on the boat. Depicted on the national flag of Sri Lanka. Yeah, yeah.
04:38Oh, that landed on your lap, didn't it? £500. Appears on the club badge of Millwall football team.
04:44Uh, it's the den, isn't it? You sure? Yeah. Good deduction, well done. In the nickname of Richard
04:51the First. Lionheart. That's right, Richard the Lionheart. Animal in the Chinese Zodiac. Tiger, isn't it?
05:00I think, yeah. Tiger. Androcles removed a thorn from its paw in a George Bernard Shaw play. I think it's Lion.
05:09No, I don't. Yeah, go Lion. It is Lion, well done. Elsa in the 1966 film Born Free. Yeah, sure. Yeah, I think so.
05:18That's right, Lion, well done. The UK moth with dark spots on its orange hind wings is called
05:24the Garden Black. Yeah, it's a tiger, yeah. Tiger Moth. Mentioned first in the lyrics of Raw by Katy Perry.
05:34No, tiger. Oh! Worth £500, unlucky on that one. Aslan in the Chronicles.
05:42Kate! I don't know. Oh, no. The pressure of it there. It did, it did. Adam, you were so sure. You should have gone for it.
05:51I should have gone for it. Yeah, that's it. Oh, that was so unlucky. Oh, wow. Kate, Adam, that was solid though, wasn't it?
05:57We were doing all right until then. We were doing all right. Do you think you'll change tactics moving forward?
06:02You might do a bit of swiping next time, Adam? I think so. I might do, yeah. Tiger Feet. I was surprised you didn't
06:07know that one until I said it out loud. I think when I said it, you went, oh. Yeah, I've heard of it. I know it now.
06:11Yeah, a bit before our time, though. It was a bit before your time, yeah, but this is a quiz. There'll be many
06:16questions from before your time, so. That's true. A flag question, can you believe that? That was nice. I enjoyed that one.
06:23That was a beauty. And for big money as well. And to be clear, it is random. That was totally random, that flag question
06:28come up, but we do get them every couple of episodes. The Millwall Football Club answer you. There was a
06:33good deduction there. Yeah, it's the Den, isn't it, there? The Den, and then that led you to Lyon.
06:38Very good. Kate and Adam, £1,250. That's a great round one. Off you go. Thank you.
06:47Time now for another qualifier question. So, Kyle and Mike and Ian Limp. Fingers on buzzers.
06:54Canines and incisors are types of what structures? Kyle and Mike? Teeth. They are teeth, of course they are.
07:01Come on down to the answer room.
07:08Straight in there, guys. Knew that one. Yeah, straight away. I saw Edna's ears prick up there when we said that.
07:13How do you two know each other? We're twins as well.
07:17This is my son. Your son, all right. Okay, lovely stuff. And what do yous do?
07:23I'm studying for my PhD in chemistry in Manchester. At Manchester Uni, yeah, great. What about you, Mike?
07:28I'm just coming up on retirement from the civil service. Oh, wow, brilliant stuff. Well, congratulations.
07:33Thank you. What are your plans then, post-retirement? You got some big plans? I think my wife has for me.
07:39A garden. Lots of stuff to keep me busy, but we like traveling. Great stuff. We've just got a motorhome last year,
07:47so we're planning, hopefully, with a trip around Europe. Oh, wow. So, that's what we're... Hopefully, it'll come together.
07:54Yeah, incredible, incredible. What about you, Kyle? What would you like to get up to in your spare time?
07:58I'd like to do a bit of rock climbing with my lab mates. I bake, I like coffee, I play chess.
08:04Just kind of a bit of everything, you know. Quite the catch, aren't you, Kyle? He's a very good cook.
08:10And a good cook as well? He's a very good cook. What's your favorite sort of cuisine? Oh, Italian.
08:14Italian? Yeah, got to be. Got to be. Pasta, pizza, focaccia, I mean. So, a scientist at university,
08:21and then you sort of bring that home with you a little bit and, like, experiment in the kitchen.
08:25Yeah, exactly. Like, baking is more of a science than... Yeah, well, quite, yeah. Certainly, it's not the way
08:29I do it, but yeah, I'm sure it is. I'm sure it is. How would you describe each other to somebody?
08:34I know this might sound a bit cringy, but he's one of the nicest people I know, like, genuinely.
08:41He's a really, really good guy. Because he's obviously been brought up right, hasn't he? Well, hopefully.
08:45We like to think so. What about you, Kyle? Yeah, no, I mean, what can I say about this guy? He's raised me and
08:51he's just been the most supportive dad whenever I was playing rugby, be it every single game,
08:54drive me to every single training match, and just, he's always been there.
08:59Lovely. Well, let's hope you're still this close when we finish the game.
09:04Now, you are second up, so you've got two categories remaining, and they are...
09:10Lincoln, Washington, Mercury, Apollo. I think Mercury, Apollo could go quite...
09:15Yeah, I mean, I have lived in America. Yeah. Lincoln, Washington. Yeah.
09:23Not really presidential, but with maybe some place names. It's the first round. Stick it in.
09:29What do you reckon? Let's go Lincoln, Washington. Lincoln, Washington. Okay. So, Lincoln, Washington.
09:34Let's prep the answer room. We're going to swipe left for Lincoln and right for Washington.
09:39You've got 15 questions, 90 seconds on the clock. We'll pop a clock for the viewers at home,
09:43and your time starts now. US president who delivered the Gettysburg Address. Abraham Lincoln.
09:49Car company that has made models called Continental and Navigator.
09:55Lincoln. A character in Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical Hamilton. That's right, it was Washington.
10:03In the name of the newspaper that broke the Watergate scandal. The Washington Post, well done.
10:09Surname of actor Andrew, star of The Walking Dead. Andrew Lincoln, I don't know.
10:16It is Andrew Lincoln, very good. Good guess. Birthplace of Roxy music singer Brian Ferry,
10:21for 500 pounds. I will say Washington, because I think he's from North America. That's right,
10:26Tyne and Wear. EFL League One football club nicknamed The Imps. Lincoln, I'm going to go Lincoln.
10:36Lincoln, very good. Singer and former member of Mystique, Sabrina Blank. I would go Washington,
10:44yeah, I have no clue, so I'll say Washington. Nice, good guess, well done. Daniel Day-Lewis
10:49played the title role in this film. Abraham Lincoln. Great actor, love his work. Is a UK city.
10:59An original 1215 Magna Carta has been displayed in a castle here. Castle in Washington.
11:05Lincoln Castle. Sure. It is Lincoln, very good. Greens said to have been worn by Robin Hood.
11:12Washington Green, Lincoln Green, Lincoln Green, I mean...
11:19You were timed out there at the end, so that was lucky. What would you have gone for?
11:21I think I would have said Lincoln. Lincoln Green, you'd have been right.
11:25But it's only 50 pounds, so not too bad, is it? Especially with that figure, 2,100,
11:31that was unbelievable. Well, I don't want to, you know, I don't like to presume. How many were
11:37guesses, do you reckon? Probably 50-50. Some of it is luck, I appreciate that, but I think some of
11:43it's educated guesses, isn't it? You get to a point where you think, well, it's not a Washington
11:47car. Brian Ferry, I didn't know he was born in Washington, but I remember his accent, and I'm
11:52thinking he's northeast, and I know Washington. That's how the game works. You knew the Hamilton
11:58question, have you seen that musical, or just know where? No, I just know what it's about. You know
12:02what it's about, so you know enough, George Washington's in that. Mike, you were straight
12:06in on the Washington Post, the Watergate scandal. Yeah, I remember that. Do you remember?
12:13From the movie, I'm sure. From the movie. Washington Post would be a famous newspaper. Yeah, of course.
12:18Well, at the end of that run, you've added £2,100 to your prize pot, well done.
12:28So, two teams have played, which leaves one team left.
12:32Andy and Lynn and Edna, come on down to the answer run.
12:37APPLAUSE
12:45Andy and Lynn, nice to meet you both. What's your relationship? Oh, we're married.
12:48Well, no, I've never met her before in my life. No, fair enough. How long have you been married?
12:5235 years this year. Ah, we'll have a round of applause for that, won't we? That's impressive.
12:5735 years, what's the secret? Well, I'll ask you, Lynn, what's the secret?
13:02LAUGHTER
13:05Patience. Patience, yes.
13:08Think alike. Fair enough, that makes sense. 35 years, amazing. And any other family?
13:13Two daughters. Yeah. Holly lives in America, she works in Washington. Wow. Oh, so that would have
13:19been a good category for you, then. Yeah. And Bryony lives in Belfast. Ah, lovely stuff. And
13:24what do you both do? I'm semi-retired. OK. I was a police officer in the Met. Oh, wow, OK.
13:31And what about you, Andy? I am a civil servant. Oh, right, OK. Spy, yeah? Yeah, basically,
13:36yeah, just stick with that one. That's what I go for every time, a civil servant. But would a spy
13:41say that they're a spy? Well, exactly. Away from work, then, what do you like to get up to? Lynn,
13:47I presume you've got a bit more time now. What are your hobbies, interests? I like crime novels,
13:52things like that, but I also read a lot of biographies. So even after being a police
13:55officer, you're semi-retired, you think, I'm still going to keep up, aren't you? Yeah, I'm always
13:58thinking we should write a book, Jason, on the TV set, Lionel Judi, or something like that. Yeah,
14:02maybe. You could be our lead actor. Absolutely, I'm there. I need a job after this finishes.
14:08All right, let's have a little look at the category you've been left with.
14:12Mercury and Apollo. Is it the one you would have picked? Oh, absolutely not. OK.
14:18What would you have gone for? Probably Lincoln, Washington, I think. Yeah, all right. Well,
14:22you know what? You just never know. Yeah, you just don't know what comes up. Not at all,
14:25not in this show. You've got 15 questions all about Mercury and Apollo. Let's prep the answer
14:30run. You're going to swipe left for Mercury, right for Apollo. You've got 90 seconds. We'll put a
14:37clock up for the viewers at home, and your time starts now. Alex Gray's gladiator name in the
14:43rebooted game show? I'm guessing Apollo. Yeah. No idea. Right. Correct, Apollo, for 200 pounds.
14:50Known as the messenger of the gods in Roman myth? Mercury, well done, that was worth 500.
14:57In the title of a 1984 single by Adam Ant? Apollo, Apollo. Apollo 9.
15:06Planet closest to the sun? Mercury. Mercury, left. Well done, Mercury.
15:13NASA space program that sent the first humans to the moon?
15:17Apollo. Yeah, Apollo. Apollo, very good.
15:22Album prize won by Ezra Collective in 2023? The Mercury Prize.
15:30Greek god twin of Artemis? Apollo. Apollo. In the title of a BBC stand-up series first shown
15:39in 2004? Live at the Apollo. Live at the Apollo, never heard of it. Type of barometer? Mercury.
15:47Mercury. Rising in the title of a 1998 Bruce Willis film? Oh, it was Mercury Rising, unlucky.
15:56Women's professional basketball team based in Phoenix? Apollo, Apollo. Oh, it was Mercury,
16:04that was 500, a big one. Name of the drum horse in the coronation procession of King Charles III?
16:09Mercury.
16:15What would you have gone for? Apollo. Yeah, Major Apollo, the horse was called,
16:20formerly called Ed. Who knew? So, £1,150, nothing to grumble at though. That's good.
16:27Any of those questions that you probably would have got if you'd have had a bit more time,
16:29do you think? The Bruce Willis one I'm annoyed at because I've seen it. Mercury Rising. Yeah,
16:33Mercury Rising. It's the pressure, isn't it, I guess, of being up there. And the women's
16:38professional basketball team, Phoenix, bit of a guess? No idea. Yeah. No idea. Phoenix, Mercury.
16:42Mercury Prize, you knew that was a music prize, that was an easy one for you. And live at the
16:46Apollo, of course. Yeah, never seen it. It's a great show, I heartily recommend it,
16:51some of my dear pals on it. A very cool style, you two, though, just very meticulous, there was
16:56a little bit of conferring, but you were very focused. So, £1,150 in your prize spot,
17:02that is a cracking start, well done. Thank you. Thank you.
17:10So, at the end of round one, let's take a quick look at the totals. Andy and Lynn
17:14have £1,150, Kate and Adam £1,250, but in the lead with £2,100 is Kyle and Mike.
17:25So, now it is time for round two, teams. You've seen how important it is
17:30to get that first choice of category. When you step up this time to the run, the money goes up
17:36as well as the pressure, because at the end of this round, unfortunately, one of you
17:40will be going home. Let's see who is going to get first choice. Fingers on buzzers.
17:46In 2024, Sarah Snook won a Golden Globe for playing Shivroy, in which, Kate and Adam?
17:53Succession. It is Succession, well done. Come on over to the Answer Room.
18:04Is that a series you've seen? Yeah, I've watched it, it's really good. Yeah, it's a good show,
18:07isn't it? It's very good. Okay, well, look, you have seen how important it is to get this right,
18:11you were there the first time. Round one, you added £1,250 to your prize pot, that money is safe for
18:18now. So, if you won some money today, what would you spend it on? So, we'd spend it on another
18:21holiday together. So, you've had a holiday before? Yeah, we've done inter-railing around
18:26Europe and we've done the Inca Trail in Peru. Fantastic. So, do something else and whatever
18:32money's left over, I'm getting married next year. Are you really? Lovely, congratulations,
18:36lovely stuff. And so, is that booked in, you've got a date? Yeah. So, you just need a bit of
18:40extra cash to pay for some bits? Yeah. All right, well, let's see what we can do. Free bar, yeah?
18:44Well, who knows? All right, now you need to concentrate, because now what happens
18:50is each question has two different amounts, a higher amount and a lower amount.
18:54If you're feeling confident, go high, not so sure, go low. In round two, there are three new categories
19:01and they are... We've got EastEnders Coronation Street, Machu Picchu, Taj Mahal, Harry Styles
19:08and Louis Tomlinson. I mean, talk about clementine. I mean, we have been to Machu Picchu. Yeah. I feel
19:14like it's got to be that one. It has, because I'm not a Coronation Street or EastEnders fan.
19:19Yeah. And, I mean, one direction, but, yeah. Maybe we'll pair into one, don't you think?
19:24I think we're going to have to go Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu. All right, Machu Picchu, Taj Mahal. Let's prep
19:30the answer run. So, you're going to be swiping left for Machu Picchu, right for Taj Mahal.
19:37You've got 15 questions. We'll put a clock up for the viewers at home and your time starts now.
19:43Is that a higher elevation above sea level? Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu, well done.
19:49Rediscovered in 1911 by US explorer Hiram Bingham. For £200, Machu Picchu.
19:55Appeared in the 2004 film, The Motorcycle Diaries. It's got to be, man, got to be Taj Mahal.
19:59Oh, that was a big one. Was commissioned by Shah Jahan. Taj Mahal. Good, Taj Mahal.
20:09It's closer to the equator. Machu Picchu, surely. No, I think it's, I think it's Taj Mahal. Is it? In India.
20:15Oh, it was Machu Picchu. Lies beside the Yamuna River. It's worth £1,000. You could really get
20:22back into this. Very good. £500 for Taj Mahal. Can be visited by hiking the Inca Trail.
20:28100. Yeah. Machu Picchu, you remember that? Was completed first. Machu Picchu. Got to be.
20:36Machu Picchu, well done. 15th century. Has more annual visitors. That's a tough one. Taj Mahal.
20:46You'd expect so, wouldn't you? Taj Mahal. Appeared in the 2023 film, Transformers,
20:51Rise of the Beasts. I think Taj Mahal, something's telling me. Okay. Oh, lucky. You lost £500 there.
20:59Occupies a larger site area. I wouldn't know. Let's go Machu Picchu. You were right too.
21:06Well done. That was worth £400. Home to a population of llamas and alpacas. You remember
21:11seeing those guys? Oh, well done. Still got it at the end there. Very good. Oh gosh. I tell you what,
21:18that was tough. And you've been there. Yeah. My goodness. You thought we'd know more answers,
21:23wouldn't you? I know. To be fair though, you know, the big one there was about Transformers rather
21:27than Machu Picchu. Yeah, so you just don't know what's going to come up on the answer, Ron.
21:31The Motorcycle Diaries was Machu Picchu. You've not seen that, I presume. No. There was a bit of
21:36a disagreement on the equator question. Yeah. Yes. And you're meant to know your geography.
21:41Yeah. It was a tough one. It was a tough one. Sorry. I know what you mean. It does feel like
21:45the Taj Mahal might be closer, but yeah, I know what you mean. And then the Transformers one. That
21:48was a mean one there in the middle. But I've got to say, £1,250, it might be all right. Well done.
21:54Fingers crossed. Thank you. So, Kate and Adam, two identical scores from round one and round two,
22:03which gives you a prize pot of £2,500. Well done. Who is next to face the answer, Ron? Here
22:11comes another qualifier question. Fingers on buzzers. Kyle and Mike, Andy and Lynne,
22:17what green vegetable is a principal ingredient of the dish Eggs Florentine? Andy and Lynne?
22:24Spinach. Spinach it is. Very well done. Come on down and play the answer, Ron.
22:33Andy and Lynne, if you won some money there, what would you spend it on? We would really love to go
22:40to Japan. And it would be fabulous if we could chase the cherry blossom up through Japan. So
22:45that would be our dream holiday. That would be absolutely incredible. Yeah. And what about you,
22:49Lynne? Is that your dream as well? Many years ago, Jason, I was a black belt in karate, but I never,
22:55ever made a championship in Japan. So it's always been something I'd like to do. A black belt in
23:01karate as well. Yeah. So nobody messes with you, Lynne. A long time ago, though. Is that the real
23:06secret to a long marriage? Knowing one of you has got a black belt? Yeah, exactly. I reckon you two
23:13are pretty chuffed that you're here because these are two very different, very specific categories.
23:19Let's have a look at them. EastEnders Coronation Street, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson. Are you big
23:25One Direction fans? Oh, huge. I know a few Harry Styles songs, but not many. And what about your
23:31soaps? Andy, you love Harry Styles. Oh, I base my entire style upon him. I remember the first
23:39episode of EastEnders, and that was about when the interest peaked. Okay. What do you reckon?
23:45I don't know. EastEnders Coronation Street? Let's go for it, yeah. Yeah, we'll go with the top one.
23:50We'll go with the soaps. Okay, let's prep that. So swipe left for EastEnders, right for Coronation
23:56Street. You'd be surprised what's gone in, just osmosis over the years, you know, part of popular
24:00culture. We've got 15 questions. We'll pop a clock up for the viewers at home. Your time starts now.
24:06Set a record as the world's longest running TV soap. Coronation Street. Coronation Street, well
24:11done. And you've got the highest amount there, 400. Created by Tony Warren. Coronation Street.
24:16That is Coronation Street. Go high if you're sure. Its theme tune was
24:20composed by Eric Spear. This is worth £1,000. EastEnders.
24:26Oh, unlucky, it was Coronation Street. Sarah Lancashire plays Raquel. Coronation Street,
24:30wait for the figure. Very good for 200, it was Corrie. Has a kebab shop called Prima Donna.
24:39EastEnders. Yeah. Oh, it was Coronation Street, unlucky.
24:44Won the inaugural BAFTA for best soap. EastEnders. EastEnders it is, we're back,
24:52£250. Adam Woodger is one of the original cast members. EastEnders. That's right, Ian Beale.
25:01One of the pub's landladies had the cash raise, get out of my pub.
25:07Very good, it's Barbara Windsor. Featured a great Dane dog called Schmeichel. That was EastEnders,
25:12wasn't it? Yes. No, it was Coronation Street. Named after Peter Schmeichel, the goalkeeper.
25:18Ian McKellen appeared in the show as Mel Hutchwright. Go. Coronation Street, that was a
25:24big one, 500, well done. Claire Sweeney joined the cast in 2023. Coronation Street. No idea.
25:32Coronation Street. Coronation Street, mother of Tyrone Dobbs.
25:36Oh, tough one that, tough one if you don't know. But it did pretty well, 900, it's not zero, is it?
25:44It's not nothing. No, it's good. Let's have a little go through some of those questions and answers.
25:48Yeah. So the theme tune composed by Eric Spear, that could have gone either way, I suppose, that's
25:52Coronation Street, that famous trumpet. The kebab shop Prima Donna. Which sounds like something from
25:58the East End. Yeah, I guess so. My general rule of thumb is if it's slightly humorous, it's probably
26:03Coronation Street, so out of the two. And the Great Dane called Schmeichel, named after Peter
26:10Schmeichel, keeper at Manchester United at Manchester City, so that makes sense. You might
26:14remember that East Enders Ethel had Little Willie, was her dog back in the day. So Annie and Lynn,
26:20you've banked 900 pounds, back you go. Well done. Thank you.
26:27So Adam and Lynn, we're going to add that amount to what you won in round one, which takes
26:32your prize pot to £2,050, which unfortunately means that you guys can't quite match Kyle and
26:40Mike and Kate and Adam, no matter how Kyle and Mike do in this next round. So we're gonna have
26:45to say goodbye to you guys, I'm afraid. That's great, thank you. I'm so sorry, you had a good
26:48time. Yeah, it was good fun. Kyle and Mike, you guys get to play the answer run. Come on over.
26:55Okay, Kyle and Mike, so you're through. For you guys now, it's all about building up that pot,
27:00getting as much money in as possible. What would you spend the money on? Well, to be fair, I'm 25,
27:05you know, I've got a long time girlfriend, there's a lot of stuff sort of coming up,
27:09houses, thinking about engagements and marriages and stuff. So I'd like to get my lovely partner,
27:14Alexa, a nice ring. Oh, wow. Is that the first time she's found out about that?
27:19No, we've had some discussions about it. She's like, you better come home with something.
27:25But no, she won't be surprised. And she's called Alexa, that's got to be...
27:28Yeah, I mean, it's an absolute nightmare. We've changed everything in the house, any...
27:33Of course, you'd have to, wouldn't you? Poor girl, every time it's mentioned.
27:37Other smart devices are available. Of course, yeah, quite right, thank you there.
27:42So, Kyle and Mike, you've got a lot of money, you've got a lot of money,
27:46Of course, yeah, quite right, thank you there. What about you, Mike?
27:50Well, apparently I'm helping to buy Alexa's ring as well.
27:55No, Kyle's just starting out in life, so we'd like to try and help them out
27:59best as possible. And if there's a little bit left over for myself, my wife and my daughter,
28:04for like a European trip or a city break or something.
28:08OK, well, look, let's see what we can do. You have been left with this topic.
28:14Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.
28:16I'm under pressure, because Alexa's a massive Harry Styles fan.
28:19Oh, is she? I'm under pressure here, yeah.
28:21And my daughter was a big One Direction... She was a youngster when One Direction were at their height,
28:27so hopefully something might have gone in.
28:29Maybe, maybe it has, let's see. Let's prep the answer run.
28:34Swipe left for Harry Styles, right for Louis Tomlinson.
28:39You've got 15 questions, 90 seconds on the clock.
28:42We'll pop a clock up for the viewers at home, and your time starts now.
28:46Was a judge on the 2018 series of The X Factor.
28:48I think it was Louis Tomlinson. I think Louis Tomlinson.
28:50It was Louis, well done.
28:53Made his debut for Doncaster Rovers Reserves in 2014.
28:57It was Louis, for 400.
29:00Has tattoos including the Green Bay Packers logo and the word Pingu on his left arm.
29:04For 600, it's Harry Styles.
29:06Was the first to have a solo UK number one album.
29:09Should we go low? Low, Harry Styles.
29:13It was Harry Styles.
29:16Launched his 28 fashion clothing line in 2023.
29:19I have no idea. It's worth £1,000.
29:21Let's go 500, Louis.
29:24Very good, it was Louis Tomlinson.
29:26Was the subject of a 2023 documentary.
29:28All of those voices about going solo after One Direction.
29:31Harry Styles, yeah. Yeah, Harry Styles.
29:34It was Louis Tomlinson.
29:36It's all right, it's all right, it's all right.
29:37Has won more Grammy awards.
29:39Harry Styles. It is Harry.
29:42Played Alex in the 2017 war film Dunkirk.
29:45400, yeah.
29:46£400, Harry Styles.
29:49Had a UK top 10 hit single with Steve Aoki called Just Hold On.
29:53Oh, Just Hold On, it's Harry Styles.
29:55It was Louis Tomlinson, lucky.
29:57Oh, I'm not in trouble for that.
29:58His first solo UK number one single was Sign of the Times.
30:01Harry, Harry Styles.
30:02Absolute banger it was too, it's Harry Styles.
30:04Was the first member of One Direction to become a father.
30:07I'm going to say Louis Tomlinson.
30:09No, I think it's Harry Styles.
30:10It's to go low to Harry.
30:11Yeah, sorry.
30:12It was Louis Tomlinson.
30:14Was born in Redditch, Worcestershire.
30:16Oh, that's all right.
30:18That's not bad, yeah.
30:20OK, what would you have gone for on that last one, worth £500?
30:22I would have said Harry Styles
30:24because Louis Tomlinson, I think, is from Doncaster.
30:26Yeah, there you go.
30:27You're just quite right on that one, unlucky.
30:30But I've got to say, lads, for a couple of fellas
30:32saying you know nothing about One Direction,
30:34I think you might have been maybe secret One Direction-ers
30:37all these years.
30:38I'm saying nothing.
30:40A lot of that info has obviously gone in.
30:42Kyle, you're allowed home, back to Alexa now.
30:44Thankfully I'll be let in whenever I get back.
30:47But a few that you got wrong there,
30:49All Those Voices was a Louis Tomlinson documentary
30:51about going solo.
30:52The single with Steve Aoki was Louis Tomlinson as well.
30:55And Louis was first to become a father,
30:57which I think you might keep saying, weren't you?
30:59Sorry, apologies, I overruled.
31:00Do you know what?
31:01Sorry, Louis.
31:02Oh, not at all.
31:04I think what I've worked out from there
31:05is that the pair of you are very much Team Harry Styles.
31:08Oh, yeah.
31:08You seem to know much more about Harry than it is Louis.
31:11Fair enough.
31:12Well, look, that is a cracking amount of money.
31:14£1,500, well done.
31:16Back you go.
31:22So we are going to add that £1,500 to your round one total,
31:26which gives you a pot of £3,600.
31:29Well done, guys.
31:30Which means with Kate and Adam on £2,500,
31:34Andy and Lynn, £2,050 is just not enough to get you through
31:38to the head-to-head today.
31:39Not far off, though, but there was a bit of a tough selection
31:42of rounds there, wasn't it?
31:43Yeah.
31:44You've been ruining Harry Styles and Coronation Street.
31:46I knew most of those.
31:47Did you as well?
31:48Oh, no!
31:49I picked the wrong one, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry.
31:52Oh, Edna's ready to go, look, she knows we're off.
31:55It's lovely to meet the three of you, all the best.
31:57Andy and Lynn and Edna, everybody.
32:00APPLAUSE
32:03Kyle and Mike, Kate and Adam,
32:05you are going through to today's head-to-head.
32:11Here is how it's going to work.
32:13The head-to-head is all about being in control.
32:15Both teams will face the answer run at the same time.
32:18Whoever is in play will answer questions
32:20until they get one wrong.
32:22Once a wrong answer is given, play will switch to the other team
32:25and that will keep happening every time somebody answers
32:27incorrectly to decide who will start the round.
32:29We're going to play a qualifier question.
32:31Fingers on buzzers.
32:33Rebecca Adlington won gold medals competing in which Olympic sport?
32:37Kyle and Mike?
32:38Swimming.
32:39Swimming it was.
32:40Come on down to the answer run.
32:49OK, Kyle and Mike knew that one.
32:51Knew that one.
32:51All right, well, look, it means you are going to start
32:54in control of the answer run.
32:55Today's head-to-head category is...
33:00OK.
33:02What do you reckon?
33:04Specific, is it?
33:06Well, it's 100 years in it, but I know you mean it.
33:08It was just in the past.
33:09There are 15 questions and this time you've got two minutes on the clock.
33:13Remember, keep answering correctly, you will stay in control.
33:17But as you can see, Kate and Adam there hovering in the shadows,
33:20ready to pounce.
33:22Once again, each question will have two values.
33:25So if you're feeling brave, go high.
33:27Not so sure, go low.
33:29Answer run, get yourself ready.
33:33Swipe left for 1750s, right for 1850s.
33:37Kyle, Mike, your time starts now.
33:40Construction of the Suez Canal began...
33:421850s, I think, low.
33:451800, 1859 it was.
33:47The first post office pillar box was installed in Britain.
33:501850 low.
33:51Low, 1850 low.
33:53It was 1850s, well done.
33:56Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews was founded...
33:58You're the golf man.
34:00Low, we'll go low.
34:01Go low, 1850.
34:03Almost on the clock.
34:04You went high and wrong, unfortunately.
34:06Let's swap over.
34:08That was 1754, would you believe?
34:11OK, so quite some way to make up here, guys.
34:15But it can be done.
34:16Start the clock.
34:18The Gregorian calendar was adopted in Great Britain.
34:21I'm feeling it's 17, but I don't know.
34:24Go low, go low.
34:26Go, go, go, go.
34:271752, well done.
34:30Big Ben chimed for the first time.
34:3218...
34:34I'm feeling it's 17.
34:35OK, go.
34:37Stop the clock.
34:39It's 1859.
34:40Let's swap over.
34:44OK, can you hold on to the lead and the control?
34:48Start the clock.
34:49The British Museum first opened...
34:51I think 1750s, but we can't be low.
34:53Low, 1750s.
34:551759.
34:57Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born...
35:00Let's go high, 1750s.
35:04Nice.
35:04It was 1756.
35:06Charles Dickens started a series of public readings of his works.
35:09Yeah, 18.
35:101858.
35:13Alexander Hamilton, First Secretary of State to the US Treasury, was born...

35:201770, yeah.
35:21Neanderthal fossils were first identified.
35:23I would say low, 1850s.
35:28It was 1856.
35:30Benjamin Franklin conducted his famous kite experiment.
35:331750s.
35:34Low, 1750s.
35:351752.
35:38Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease on the St James' Gate Brewery in Dublin.
35:421750s.
35:43Low, 1750s.
35:45Nice.
35:46Well done.
35:48The end of the Mughal Empire.
35:52Britain, odd.
35:53Let's go low here.
35:54Low.
35:55Good, well done.
35:56It was 1850s.
35:57W.G. Grace played his first match for West Gloucestershire Cricket Club.
36:01I think it's 1850s.
36:02We'll go low.
36:05Oh, just stuck that in there.
36:07Well done.
36:07Take that.
36:10Wow, great teamwork, that.
36:12Really was.
36:12Yeah, covering each other's bases.
36:14Nice.
36:15And what an amount as well, 8,500.
36:18Amazing.
36:19You lost control at one point, but you quickly regained it,
36:21and you weren't letting it go again, were you?
36:23Trying hard.
36:25Great stuff.
36:26Kate and Adam, come on forward, you two.
36:29Oh, what a shame.
36:30You just couldn't get back in there, could you?
36:32They were smashing it.
36:32Sorry, guys.
36:33And it all rested on the chime of Big Ben, unfortunately.
36:371859, would you believe, yeah?
36:39History is not my strong point.
36:40Oh, well.
36:41You'll never forget that, though, that will be in there forever now.
36:45Kate and Adam, thanks for playing along.
36:47Sorry to see you go, but well done.
36:48Kyle and Mike, we'll see you in today's final.
36:50So, Kyle and Mike, how are you feeling?
36:53Nervous.
36:54Yeah?
36:54Yeah.
36:55Do you think you'd get here?
36:56No, no, no.
36:57It's just that.
36:58You're here for a nice day, aren't you?
36:59But what a lovely thing to do, father and son bonding.
37:01Yeah, for sure, definitely.
37:03That's actually part of the reason why we're doing it.
37:05Yeah, it's a great idea.
37:07It's lovely.
37:08I couldn't think of anything worse than doing something with my dad like this.
37:13Now, if you won today, remind us what you would spend it on.
37:16Kyle, would you spend it on your dad?
37:17If you won today, remind us what you would spend it on.
37:20Kyle's just starting out in life, so I'd like to help him out with a house deposit
37:23and a little bit left over to take my daughter and my wife on a city break.
37:27A little trip.
37:28OK, well, let's see what we can do.
37:30We are playing for a pot of £8,500.
37:36All that stands between you and that money is one final run.
37:40This time, when you give a correct answer,
37:43the question will turn into a gold block.
37:45You've got just 90 seconds.
37:46You need to answer eight questions in a row,
37:48then your stack will reach the jackpot line
37:50and you'll be taking home your hard-earned cash.
37:53If at any point you get an answer wrong
37:55or if one of the questions hits the top of your stack,
37:58you'll see them all tumble down and you'll have to start again from scratch.
38:01So your thinking time actually gets shorter the better you do
38:05and the higher your stack gets, so just keep an eye on that.
38:07If at the end of the 90 seconds you reach the halfway line,
38:10we will give you half of your winnings.
38:13So, let's see the all-important final choice of categories.
38:19Monica, Rachel, X, Y.
38:21OK, I mean, it makes you think friends,
38:24but they're not all going to be about friends, so, like...
38:27X, Y. What could X and Y be?
38:29It's so... I mean, we're just...
38:32You choose, because we're no friends,
38:35but then X and Y is so random.
38:38You choose. Do you want to?
38:40Is that what you would take?
38:41X and Y is so random.
38:44OK.
38:45I just feel like it's just going to be people that you might, like...
38:49OK, let's take it, let's take it. Monica and Rachel.
38:52Monica and Rachel. OK, let's prep the answer run.
38:55Come on, eight and a half grand, come on.
38:58Swipe left for Monica, right for Rachel.
39:00We'll put a clock up for the viewers at home.

40:46Yeah.
40:47Oh, lads, you were there two or three times there.
40:50I thought you were really going to do it.
40:51Yeah, so did I.
40:53Oh, man.
40:55Yeah, gutted, that's all I can say, Jason.
40:58I've got it for you, I can feel it.
41:00Oh, that's a shame.
41:02Yeah, it's all right, it's all right.
41:04So close there, so close.
41:05There was just a couple of questions there that you...
41:08Yeah, we just...
41:09..were unsure about.
41:10I mean, they are very, very random and...
41:12It's 50-50, it's all you can do, you know, we had to...
41:14You either know it or you don't, or it's a best guess.
41:17Yeah.
41:18Well, look, you've been great players, you should be really proud of yourself,
41:20it was a great amount and you definitely father and son goals
41:24for a lot of people, I'd say, it's great to see you both.

41:29Well, you definitely did, well done, guys.
41:31Kyle and Mike, everybody, thanks for playing.
41:32Thank you, thank you very much.
41:33I hope you've enjoyed the show at home,
41:35we'll see you next time when three more teams take on the Answer Room.
