00:00What do you make of these comments from Trump?
00:02Well, let's start with the California thing.
00:03I mean, it simply is not true.
00:04He was saying if the votes were counted fairly,
00:07he would win California.
00:09As you rightly point out, obviously,
00:10Ronald Reagan in 1884 won.
00:12George H.W. Bush won in 1988.
00:16Since then, a Republican has not won statewide,
00:18and he will not either.
00:19He knows that, but as just one more way to amplify his,
00:23really has been a frustration for him
00:27about the popular vote.
00:28I think that's what he's talking about here.
00:30Obviously, California, the largest state,
00:33and it contributes to his losing the popular vote.
00:37But beyond that, I think the more important thing is
00:40if he goes to Springfield, Ohio,
00:41that confirms what we were talking about earlier,
00:43he's trying to keep immigration alive,
00:46front and center in this campaign conversation.
00:49He believes that that is something
00:51that can sort of gain ground
00:53that he was unable to do at the debate.
00:55But imagine all that would do for that town of Springfield.
00:59Let's bring in Donnie O'Sullivan
01:01to the conversation as well.
01:02And on the topic of Afghanistan, Donnie,
01:06and then you can leap off on whatever fact check
01:09you see of import on this, because there is a lot.
01:12He said, and seemed to indicate,
01:14that there were 18 months in his presidency
01:17where there were no casualties in Afghanistan.
01:20That's not true, this was a period of time
01:22that actually spanned his presidency
01:25and Joe Biden's presidency.
01:26But he also seemed to rebuff suggestions
01:29that he had politicized the deaths
01:32of American service members by then going on
01:36to politicize the deaths of US service members,
01:40saying just as if Kamala had shot them
01:43with a pistol in her hand.
01:46Brianna, I mean, I think just taking all
01:49of that press conference and what we've heard
01:51through the last few days, I mean,
01:52we're really through the looking glass here
01:54when it comes to, you know, you mentioned schools
01:57in Springfield, Ohio being shut down
01:59because of these conspiracy theories.
02:01One thing that did stand out to me there
02:03towards the end of what we took from the press conference
02:08was he was asked about whether he would start
02:10posting it again right after the election.
02:13He did start posting it again regularly
02:16on ex-formerly Twitter.
02:17Of course, he was kicked off of Twitter after January 6th.
02:22He is now back on the platform, thanks to Elon Musk,
02:24but he isn't posting regularly.
02:26I think that highlights something important here,
02:29which is, you know, easy to get lost
02:32in all the developments that is happening,
02:34is that the role of Elon Musk has in all of this, right?
02:37Because Laura Loomer, who most Americans
02:40probably have not heard of until this week,
02:43she was effectively cancelled.
02:45She was kicked off Twitter years ago.
02:49Musk brought her back.
02:50She now has millions of followers.
02:52Her posts are going viral all over the world.
02:57She has become and been made relevant in part by Elon Musk.
03:01And of course, you can see over the past few weeks,
03:03all the other ways that Musk has been helping Trump
03:07actively promoting posts
03:08and also hosting discussions with him.
03:11So I think that that's just one thing to mention here.
03:15And just back to the idea that Trump doesn't know really
03:21what Laura Loomer is about,
03:23you don't have to dig hard for these posts.
03:26I mean, it's literally,
03:28it's every second post is something toxic,
03:32is something racist, is something hateful from Laura Loomer.
03:38Daniel Dale, I mean, you've followed Trump
03:41and some of these dubious claims better than most.
03:44What did you take from that press conference?
03:48I thought you all did fantastic fact-checking, truly.
03:50You barely need me on this panel anymore.
03:52The California claim was absolutely-
03:54Fact-check accurate.
03:54I think it was great.
03:56I think, but the California claim is bonkers.
03:58Like, it's one thing to say,
03:59I would have won a Pennsylvania if the count was honest.
04:02The count is of course honest in swing states too,
04:05but he lost California by 5 million votes, about 30 points.
04:08So even under the wildest imaginary conception
04:11of voter fraud, election fraud in this country,
04:13that's still bananas.
04:15He said again, as he usually has,
04:17that ISIS was defeated in four weeks during his presidency.
04:20In fact, the ISIS caliphate or so-called caliphate
04:23was declared liberated about two years into his presidency.
04:26He spoke of supposedly thousands of people
04:29being murdered by migrants under Biden-Harris.
04:31There have been some homicides
04:33in which undocumented people are accused.
04:35I don't have a precise number,
04:37but it is nowhere near thousands.
04:39He said again that Venezuela is emptying jails, prisons,
04:42to somehow deliberately let criminals
04:45come to the U.S. as migrants.
04:46Even his own campaign, let alone experts,
04:49have been able to substantiate that.
04:50The experts say it's just not true.
04:52And Brianna, you fact-checked the claim about debate polls.
04:54I think we can get more specific.
04:56He said he has more than 90% support.
04:59More than 90% of people in one poll said he won the debate.
05:02What the heck is he talking about?
05:04Those are junk, unscientific polls,
05:06like polls where some media outlet posts on X
05:09on social media saying, who won the debate?
05:11And anyone in any country of any age
05:13can flood that so-called poll and say who they thought.
05:16It is the scientific polls that you cited,
05:19the ones by major pollsters, CNN, YouGov, Leger,
05:22that all found that Harris was supported
05:25by the overwhelming majority of people
05:27who watched that debate.
05:30It's even fellow Republicans, though,
05:32that maybe didn't participate in the poll
05:33but spoke to CNN and said that they were disappointed
05:35in his performance, but he is really selling the idea,
05:38trying to sell the idea that he won on Tuesday night.
05:41Yeah, you guys, thank you so much.
05:43Daniel Dale, you are absolutely necessary, by the way.
05:46Donnie and Jeff, thank you to you as well.
