Cold north-westerly Arctic air will continue to be funnelled across the UK bringing below average temperatures, a bitter feel for some, overnight frosts and even snow. How long will the cold air stick around?

00:06days. There's also a threat of overnight frost, hail and even snow.
00:12Plenty of sunshine though on Thursday, but a scattering of showers will develop. These
00:16will be mostly in the north and west, but will become possible quite widely during the
00:21afternoon. Some of these showers will be locally heavy, bringing hail and thunder, and may
00:27also be wintry over the Scottish hills.
00:30Staying dry and clear on Thursday night, and temperatures will drop quite widely into the
00:35single figures, possibly even to minus temperatures for some rural and elevated areas.
00:41Under light winds and these cold temperatures, some patches of frost may form.
00:47A cold start to the day then on Friday, but it will be a drier day in general with plenty
00:52of sunshine. Cloud cover will tend to thicken across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland,
00:57bringing outbreaks of rain towards the end of the day.
