00:28Marjorie rolled over so her back was toward Brian. Her panic had rendered her speechless.
00:34It's been so many years. Surely Eric won't be able to find out the truth now.
00:40I need to stop scaring myself, she thought, trying to calm down.
00:44But no matter how hard she tried to comfort herself, she spent the entire night awake with
00:50anxiety. She had a sense that she would be exposed soon. It was like the future was already haunting
00:56her. Early the next morning, Richard went to Bridget's home instead of sleeping late as he
01:02had expected. She was exercising in the garden. Her mother brought Richard a cup of coffee and
01:09apologized for the previous day. He smiled and waved off her concerns. It's fine. Eliza hesitantly
01:16played with her own mug before asking, why do you want Bridget to work with you so badly?
01:22She's interesting. She's different. She lives freely worrying about social norms.
01:28He answered. She laughed and nodded. They sat in silence for a while,
01:33watching Bridget out the window. Eventually, she spoke again.
01:38You seem to be very close with Emma Miller. I saw her last night. She's stunning. And her husband.
01:45She said, trying to sound casual. Is there something you're trying to say? He asked.
01:51Giving her a curious look. Please take good care of Bridget for me. She said. She's strong,
01:59but I couldn't stand to see anything happen to her. He raised his eyebrows.
02:04Won't you be here to look out for her? He asked. She didn't respond.
02:09The previous night's event had made her realize that there were some things she needed to face.
02:15He looked at her unfocused gaze and realized she must have a hidden story of her own.
02:20He had no idea how much they had in common. Soon after, Bridget finished exercising and
02:26approached them. What did my mom say to you? She asked him curiously. I guess you should
02:33ask her about that. He responded. I have keys to your new home. He said. Since you're officially
02:40on the payroll. I arranged an apartment for you. She looked at him suspiciously. Are you
02:47trying to train me to be something else? I signed on as a stunt double. So don't expect me to do
02:54anything else. She said. I won't. He said. That's it. The same morning, Marjorie's anxiety had
03:03overtaken any rational thought she might have had. Forgetting the commotion that she had stirred up
03:09over her relationship with Emma. She went to her son's home under the guise of bringing soup for
03:14Emma. Although the soup wasn't enough to repair their relationship, Emma was willing to talk to
03:19her mother-in-law. She invited her in but remained wary. Somehow, she thought, I don't believe that
03:26Marjorie is here just to bring me something to eat. When they entered the living room, Marjorie
03:32spotted the scripts on the coffee table. Are you preparing for another role? She asked. There's no
03:38need to beat around the bush. Is there something you want to say to me? Emma asked. Marjorie craned
03:46her neck to look around the house. Is Eric at work? She asked. Emma nodded. Yes, he has a meeting to
03:54discuss a film collaboration. Emma carefully watched Marjorie's face, curious as to what her
04:00endgame was. Marjorie didn't say anything at first. She went into the kitchen to grab a bowl and a
04:07spoon, but Emma just looked at her blankly when she tried to give them to her. What? Are you worried?
04:14I poisoned the soup. Marjorie asked, but her anxiety made her tone too serious for it to
04:21sound like a joke. I just finished breakfast. I'm not hungry, but I'm sure I will enjoy it later.
04:28Um, I replied. Okay. Marjorie said. She put the soup away and rinsed off the dishes, putting off
04:37talking about the real reason she had decided to visit. When she rejoined Emma on the living room
04:43couch, they sat in awkward silence while Marjorie figured out how to ask her question. Has Eric
04:50talked about me recently? If he has any questions, he can come to me directly. He doesn't need to
04:57investigate in secret. Marjorie blurted out, investigate in secret. Emma asked, what are you
05:06talking about? Marjorie froze. He hasn't mentioned my name change, she asked. Oh, that. Once I asked
05:17John why you had a different last name, but he never answered. He said I needed to ask his father
05:24about it. Emma replied. Marjorie let out a sigh of relief. So he's asking about my name because
05:32Emma was curious. She thought, don't worry about me. Just focus on yourself. Marjorie told Emma
05:41her temporary relief over finding out that Emma had been the one asking questions was quickly
05:46replaced with worry over the disaster that could still unfold. Okay, Emma said. Is there something
05:54else you wanted to talk about? Marjorie frowned. Emma's reaction made her feel like she had already
06:01discovered something. I need to get rid of her to prevent the truth from coming out. Marjorie
06:08realized. She glanced at Emma's baby bump hesitantly before reminding herself. That's not really my
06:15grandchild anyway. Now that her panic had subsided, Marjorie went on the offensive. Don't ask Eric
06:23about me anymore, she snapped, her mood changing rapidly. She stood up and strode out of the house
06:30without waiting for a response. But once she was outside, she realized her attitude change would
06:36make Emma more curious. Now what am I going to do? She thought just outside her own front door.
06:44She grabbed a sharp rock and drew the edge against her arm. By the time she walked through the door,
06:49she was tearing up and clutching her bleeding arm. What happened? Ryan asked as he rushed over.
06:56I guess Emma was still angry. Can you believe how she reacted? She pushed me so hard after I
07:04offered her soup that I stumbled and cut my arm on a knife. Marjorie replied. She's a terrible person.
07:12I don't want her anywhere near our son. And do you know that she was engaged before meeting Eric?
07:18She only married him to get revenge on her ex-boyfriend. He began fumbling as he held a
07:24towel to the cut. I don't know what to do, she said, trying to prompt him into action.
07:31She won't get away with this, he promised as he stormed out the door.
07:35Episode 622 A Fake Affair
07:39By the time Brian arrived at Eric and Emma's house, she was no longer home alone. Richard
07:45had stopped by to deliver the final part of The Realm to her. Brian assumed the worst when he
07:51saw them talking together. This is what you do while you're pregnant. Sleep around while Eric
07:57is at work? He asked angrily. Emma looked at him in confusion defensively, resting her hands on
08:04her belly. Richard tried to diffuse the tension and held up the script. I think there's been a
08:09misunderstanding. We just work together, he explained with a smile. Brian suppressed his
08:16embarrassment, determined to continue his rampage. Well, what did you do to Marjorie when she stopped
08:23by earlier? He asked. Emma became more confused. I don't understand what you're talking about,
08:31she replied. You don't understand. He yelled as he lunged forward with his hand raised.
08:38Richard stepped in between them. What do you think you're doing? Richard snapped. Brian pointed an
08:45accusatory finger at Emma. Do you think I'm dumb enough to fall for your innocent act?
08:51Eric might be taken in by you, but I'm not. Richard stared blankly at Brian. What are you
08:57talking about? He asked. She attacked my poor wife. She came home covered in blood, Brian
09:04answered. Once, when neither Emma nor Richard responded, Brian threw up his hands in frustration.
09:11I'm taking her to the doctor now, but this isn't over, he said before storming away.
09:18Richard and Emma stared at each other in dumbfounded silence for a while.
09:23Well, did you attack Marjorie? He asked. Somehow, I'm having trouble imagining you as the violent
09:30type. She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration. What do you think? She replied.
09:37I doubt it. Which means she finished his sentence for him. She was crazy enough to cut herself.
09:45Clearly, she's up to something and she's dragging her husband into it. Are you going to talk about
09:50this with Eric? He asked. I don't think I'll need to, she said. If his mother is crazy enough to
09:57say that I cut her, she'll make sure Eric knows about it some way or another. As Brian took
10:03Marjorie to the hospital, he made a fuss about the matter to anyone who would listen. Before long,
10:10all the press in New York seemed to know about the incident Marjorie had invented. Pretty soon,
10:17the entertainment news was putting out exaggerated headlines. Brian Robertsfiles
10:22charges after Emma Miller assaults his wife. Emma attacks Eric's mother. As pregnancy made
10:29her crazy afterfight with daughter-in-law, Marjorie Roberts is in critical condition.
10:35It didn't matter whether Emma had planned to involve Eric. There was no way he could miss
10:41the headlines. He rushed home to check on her, worried that she had been injured in
10:46the reported conflict. I'm fine, she insisted. She rubbed her face at his anxious expression.
10:55Eric, he wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin on top of her head.
11:00You don't need to say anything. I've seen the headlines, he said. Just ignore it, she said.
11:08We know it's a lie. But they both knew they couldn't just ignore it. Although Eric's parents
11:14had been absent for the majority of his rule over the entertainment industry, they now were
11:19demanding attention from anyone who would listen if he didn't get them in line. It could destroy
11:25his career. The one thing on their side was that Marjorie already had a reputation for bad-mouthing
11:32her daughter-in-law, which made her claims against Emma questionable. But the injury on her arm
11:38was hard to ignore. It didn't take long for Eric to come up with a plan.
11:42But before he could put it into action, someone stepped out to defend Emma online.
11:48Marjorie is a liar. I saw her cut herself. I can't believe anyone would believe her after
11:53she tried backstabbing Emma. They posted the thread, turned into a flurry of responses.
12:00Show the evidence people demanded. It's not like a Marjorie has evidence supporting her claim.
12:06Someone pointed out, there's no way Marjorie is crazy enough to cut herself,
12:11right? Someone asked. It wouldn't be the first time she's done disgusting things for her own
12:17gain. The original poster replied. Marjorie paled as Brian read the posts out loud to her,
12:24knowing exactly what the person meant. He scoffed. How could people make up something like that?
12:31Why would anyone believe them? He asked. She took the phone from him to read the discussion herself,
12:38looking for a clue to the identity behind the posts. While she hated what people were saying
12:44about her, she was confident no one had seen her. People continued to pester the anonymous poster,
12:50curious to find out what other big secrets Marjorie was hiding. It wasn't until several
12:55hours later that the original person posted again. All the post said was, I'm taking back
13:02what belongs to me. Marjorie tossed her phone aside as fear gripped her heart. What's wrong?
13:09Brian asked. Don't let them bother you. She ignored him and curled up on the bed as she
13:15thought about the post. She started to worry. That person can't still be alive, she thought.
13:22Can they? Although her focus had shifted to the mystery person,
13:26Emma still had her sights on Marjorie and wasn't planning on letting her go.
